We have found a nice campsite on Brac in Croatia. On this island there are at least 10 campsites, most of which are located in the village of Bol. Now in the low season, many are closed, even though it is 20-22 degrees in the air during the day, bright sunshine and around 20 degrees in the water! We think there are three open campsites here in Bol right now. We are staying at camping Kito - we have no idea if this campsite is better or worse than the other campsites, but it is a cosy little place.
Kito camping on Brac
Camping Kito is a relatively small campsite here in the village. sphere on the island Brac. There is a tiny roadside reception building, a number of pitches for motorhomes, caravans and tents under the olive trees and a small service centre.
Today we discovered that you can go further behind the service house (yes I know, we have been here for a week or so!) and there was a super nice garden and an open room under the roof, where there is probably usually a restaurant in the summer. The owners are nice and accommodating and it is very quiet, at least in October.

High season vs low season
It's very different living in a campsite in the low season and in the high season. In the summer there are certainly a lot of people here at camping Kito, but now the occasional car comes here. Right now it's us and two more small motorhomes/vans - one from Austria and one from Slovenia. and yet this is one of the few open campsites on the island!
Like a car park
There is an ongoing olive harvest around us, but if it weren't for that, it would sometimes feel like we were alone in nature. We must say that we like this type of campsite - far from pools and musical entertainment. What kind of campsites do you like?

Anne Blomgren says:
hello
Fantastically nice to follow your journey. We ourselves have been in Croatia with a motorhome several times and unfortunately have to go during the high season as we have a 13-year-old with us. Two years ago we were also on the island of Brac and stayed at the small campsite Kito. Very nice little campsite, but crowded during high season. During the evenings, the restaurant was open, and it served really good food. But we were so hot, and it was a very long hill on the way home from the beach Zlatni rat. The beach was beautiful, but it was full of people, windsurfers and party drinks etc. We think it looks much nicer in your pictures during the low season. Great that you have such nice weather!

It looks cosy! It looks like you will continue to have nice weather for a while! It's raining a lot here now, but there will probably be many more warm days here in between the showers!

Have fun and enjoy....

Must say that you really HAVE a holiday:-) I mean that after a week discovering the road behind the service house must be a record of enjoying and lazing around right where you are = you HAVE a holiday.
I've never seen an olive crop and I'm soooooo jealous, especially since I love olives - and I don't mean those wrinkled, pitted things stuffed with peppers...
We don't camp, but we don't like loud, touristy hotels/areas. Musical entertainment à la Tom Jones in tourist centres requires earplugs, as do children's club activities - among other things.
Having said that, I must say that there must be something for everyone. You and Peter enjoy each other, as do we. But if you are looking for entertainment in the form of flamenco dancing, hideous Humperdinck/ABBA copies and want to dance to mediocre country western music, then... A nightmare for you and us. Heaven for others...

Oh, how cosy it sounds. And you are lucky with the weather too, I see. I also check your weather when I see weather forecasts. Today there may be snowfall in the evening here in Norrbotten. But we have had an unusually long and beautiful autumn so it's just a matter of adjusting mentally. Something you can wait with a good while longer. Have a nice stay down there in the south.

Anne Blomgren, we understand exactly what you mean! We have travelled with Peter's sons when they were younger and had to adapt to the holidays. In Europe, it's good if you can aim for June/July rather than August as most Europeans have a holiday in August. Until 1 or 7 July you can even get low season prices in many places! Interesting to hear how it is right here in the summer! Understand that the hill is tough in the summer heat!!!
Åsa, we also had a period of rain, but now it's almost all sunshine! 🙂
Rolle and Carina, yes, it's nice not to be crowded too much! 😉
BP, haha, you put your finger on it! Yes, we have probably become quite lax... 😉 We also love olives, but they can be of very different quality and it is difficult to know... Peter says that you eat the first harvest and then use it for oil and other products? You also have a good point about getting along with each other. That's what we do. Otherwise you might prefer some entertainment as you describe so perfectly? 😉
Henny, it is difficult to find someone who is right in the forecasts but now we have fantastic weather - even better than they promised! Glad you had a nice autumn! Snow sounds exotic 😉

Looks very cosy and nice to be able to relax and take it easy. You may need that to keep the migraine away. Enjoy the warmth because soon you will be up to darkness and cold. But today is a sunny and nice day, even though it was only 4 degrees this morning.

Ama de casa says:
Your campsite there seems perfect - one that we would enjoy too. Small, two- or three-star, cosy campsites are best. The big ones with lots of activities and stars tend to be rather uncomfortable and impersonal.
Nowadays I like more and more hotel camping too, to be honest 😀.

It's idyllic, judging by the text and pictures. It might be nice for you to unwind with a real holiday before you head north.
Here at home the beautiful autumn continues and I am now looking out at yellowed birches and a clear blue sky, 10°.

Elisabeth, nice of you to think about my migraine! Yes, it is of course good to take it easy sometimes, and sooner or later the cold will come anyway 😉.
Steve, in a way we have holidays all this year, but it actually feels like a bit of an extra holiday right now!
Ama de casa, we like the same type of campsites I think! (Even hotel camping can be nice ;))
Lennart, nothing wrong with that climate, is there? 😉
Johan Persson, we think exactly the same way!

It's a real treat to find these little oases where there is plenty of space. Nowadays we don't camp and haven't done so to any great extent, but it reminds me a bit of boating. And we never stayed at a jetty close to other boats, other than for a few hours to stock up on food, soap a machine, shower in hot water and fill water and petrol.
When it comes to camping, I want to have space around me and not have neighbours five metres away...
I understand that you are enjoying yourself now and it's nice to have an off-season.

That's how we like it when we stay at a campsite. A little bit of shade, old stone houses and small gardens.
