Bol is located on the island of Brac, which is the third largest island in the Croatian archipelago. Brac is surrounded by the Adriatic Sea and can be reached by ferry from Split on the mainland to the town of Supertar.

Bol on the island of Brac
The village of Bol on the island of Brac, located on the south side of the island, is a small harbour or fishing village with a beautiful promenade. Several nice beaches, including the famous Zlatni Rat beach, and nice restaurants make Bol on the island of Brac a holiday paradise.
In the village of Bol on the island of Brac in the Croatian archipelago.
Island Brac is one of the more popular islands off the coast of Croatia and can be reached by ferry from Split. The ferry docks in Supetar, the largest town on the island, and to get to Bol you then have a 50-minute drive on winding mountain roads.
Another option is to take a ferry from Makarska to the town of Sumartin. Bol is the main tourist resort on the island of Brac in Croatia and is best known for its specially shaped beach Zlatni Rat.
Things to see and do in Bol
Bol is really a super cosy little village with charming stone houses, restaurants in a nice location by the water and some small shops with clothes and holiday items. You can take several different boat trips Or you can go snorkelling, diving, windsurfing and kitesurfing. Above all, of course, you can sunbathe and swim - preferably on the beach "Zlatni Rat", which has actually been named one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Beaches Zlatni Rat
"Zlatni Rat" means "Golden cape" and is world famous for its beauty. Time and again it has been included in lists of beautiful beaches, including being named the best beach in Croatia by Lonely Planet.
Exploring Bol
The first thing that strikes you when you walk in and around Bol is how incredibly beautiful it is everywhere. The beaches are charming little coves, the sea is crystal clear and the pine trees are intensely green.
Most of the houses are made of stone and look like they are straight out of a medieval film. Therefore it was a bit funny and unexpected when we suddenly came across some very different houses with special graffiti painting! Shortly afterwards, it was time for a paradise beach again...
Bol in low season
Until the end of October, you can expect quite a few things to be open in Bol. Dey is of course not as busy as in summer, but there are still shops, restaurants and boat hire companies open. As October turns into November, things get worse. Boat hire companies close and many restaurants close or only serve beer.
Camping in Bol
What about camping? Since we couldn't find a campsite to begin with, we slept the first night in a car park, in our camper van. When we woke up this morning, a car stopped outside our motorhome and a man asked if we wanted to come and stay at his campsite? Of course we did, so now we are staying at the nice little year-round campsite Kamp Kito.

How clever to go around and attract customers to the campsite! Hope the sun comes again soon!

BP, it's supposed to be sunny according to the weather reports so we believe in it 🙂 Yes, when we asked at the tourist information centre they only sent us to closed campsites so this was better 😉.
Steve, I'm sure they needed a few more customers, but it worked out well for us 😉.
Lennart, how wonderful that you are on the road! What is the goal?
Åsa, yes, I don't know if it was a coincidence or a method, but it was clever! 😉

Extra fun to follow you now. It is precisely Brac that we will visit this summer! Thanks for the tip about Bol then! We will stay in Supetar. And of course make an excursion to Split!
Warm greetings,

Now I can finally catch up with the blog. We have only had free wiwi and they have been very limited. The tourist offices usually have, but sometimes you have to pay even there.
You seem to have done a lot and you should probably go to Croatia in late summer or early autumn. This season brings a lot of wind and rain.
You don't seem to have bathed for a while....is it too cold in the water?
In any case, you find nice places and we note them .... you never know, maybe it will be where we go next autumn.
Yes, this is the time of year when they usually fill up most of the campsites.
Here in Spain we have never before experienced so many motorhomes, as now. We head south tomorrow have a good time on your journey home, which may take a while if I understand you correctly 🙂.

Maggan and Ingemar, nice to hear from you! Yes, there can be a lot of wind and rain this time of year, but at times it is warm and lovely. It is probably good to swim (we saw a bunch of people swimming for a long time today) but we want more sun to do it. We will see if there will be any more opportunity before the season is over 😉 And yes, many campsites close 15 Oct. There are also those that are open all year round, but you have to check in advance to be sure. We also saw an insane amount of motorhomes in Spain and Portugal last winter. Have a good trip!
Solan, yes, but isn't it? 😉

The sun will probably come too!

Anna in Dubai says:
ah so cosy... want to jump into the photo and just be in some small, cosy place and run around. I didn't think of the big city for the occasion. Tall buildings and all that shiny stuff. I want small, cosy, cough, rain, candlelight, blankets...
It will pass soon enough.

agnes in Lund says:
We also liked the many small beaches a bit east (if I remember correctly) of the centre. Stayed a week in Bol a couple of years ago. Nice jogging path out towards Zlatnirat. Wonderful beach there - but expensive sunbeds 🙂.

Lennart, it is raining today but the sun will come, so we wait and hope 🙂 .
Ama de casa, right? 😉
Anna in Dubai, can really understand you! We usually get tired after just a few days in any big city, and then there is not even much gold 😉.
Agnes in Lund, thanks for the tip! Funny that you have been here! We will look around more when it stops raining! 😉 Right now, by the way, the sun loungers at Zlatni rat looked a bit abandoned 😉.
