Sights on Brac in Croatia! Brac is a beautiful island in the archipelago off Split in the Adriatic Sea. Here you can climb the highest mountain Vidova Gora (778 metres above sea level) and get a great view of the famous Zlatni Rat beach.
Other attractions include the stone carving town of Pucisca, the olive oil museum in Skrip and the sandy beach of Lovrecina. Come along and experience the sights of Brac in Croatia!

Car hire in Croatia
You can of course drive around with a motorhome on Brac, but since it feels much easier to drive on the winding roads (and to park wherever you want!), we chose to rent a small car today. We rented the car via Adria Tours Bol and had to pay 460 SEK for a full day + petrol. At 9 o'clock in the morning we left Bol. Well, did we find any sights then ...?
The highest point on Brac
The mountains on Brac are high and the highest point, Vidova Gora, is 778 metres above sea level. This means that it is also the highest point among all the islands in the Adriatic Sea.
You can drive all the way up and you have a fantastic view, including of the famous beach. Zlatni Rat. Unfortunately it was foggy when we were up there and it was difficult to get good pictures, but if you are in Brac we highly recommend a visit here!

The stone carvers of Pucisca
In the cosy little village of Pucisca there is a stone carving school. Here the students work with real orders and cut stone with the help of supervisors. When we arrived there, it was full of activity and lots of young guys were working with stone inside the school's doors.
According to Adria Tours, for an insignificant amount of money you could come in and see the work, but there was no one to pay and the students were not overly interested in our visit. Maybe it's different in high season?

Additional attractions on Brac in Croatia
Are there any other attractions on Brac? Yes, there is a Olive oil museum in Skrip (closed at the moment because the owners are harvesting olives) and a sandy beach in Lovrecina (yep, sandy beaches in Croatia are so rare that they count as attractions).
For our part, it was a trip to Supetar to stock up on food at Lidl. On the way, we picked up a hitchhiker who was on his way home from work, as.... stonemason! What about the famous lamb restaurant? Yes, it was lunch there and we will tell you about it tomorrow!

Renting a small car is perfect for getting around!
We usually do that as well, or a small "Bike" 🙂.
What a nice view from the mountains 🙂
Take care and enjoy.....

driving around by car at the destination is great! Though I prefer not to drive myself... 😉.

Thanks for the nice tour of Brac. The view is absolutely fantastic no matter which "motif" you choose. Oh the weather is a dream with you. Stay there, I just say.
So Lidl has even found its way to Brac. Is there anywhere in Europe where there is no Lidl? No, I don't think so.
One thing you forgot to tell me. What kind of car did you rent? A small Nissan perhaps? Yes. I know that you don't have a driving licence and that the car is white. But Peter might know what he was driving;-)

We rented a small white "soapbox" on our last trip to Spain. We went up into the mountains and on roads that would have been impossible with the motorhome. There is always haze or fog when you have to shoot from a high level... Good pictures were taken despite this....

Rolle and Carina, we have not rented a car before on the trip, but now it felt like a good fit!
Maria, I don't even have a driving licence, but Peter is happy to drive 🙂.
BP, we haven't found Lidl in Albania or Macedonia, nor in Corsica, Sardinia or Sicily... Peter says the car is a small Chevrolet (I had no idea) 😉 .
Solan, it was sunny down there... but still hazy at the top 😉 We usually drive just about everywhere with the camper, but it was a little nice to not have to fuss with it and think about where to park. Peter called the little white thing alternately "backpack" and "go-kart" 😉.

BP says:
Answer : I knew it - that you didn't have the slightest idea what car you were driving. Oh thanks for Peter being on the bait. Oh, I didn't know that Chevrolet made such cute mini things either - so it evens out;-)
PS. Peter's FB page is cool! So much fun that you were selected to go to Finland:-))))) DS.

How nice to join you on your excursion. And renting a small car and getting around the island seemed both good and easy. Great pictures!
But now I have a tip! Yesterday we met a Swedish motorhome family here in the area with what I think is a very large motorhome, a Carthago (picture will be sent to your mail) and they had a space in the car where they stored a motorbike that was used for transport when they did not want to move the motorhome. Maybe something for the next trip.
Also saw other motorhomes and sent a thought to you in today's post.
Keep up the good work.
We also enjoy the nice weather and +25 at the end of October is perfect.
Still sitting out on the terrace....

Ditte, how nice that you thought of us when you saw the motorhomes! Carthagos are big (and nice). We could never have driven around Corsica and down all the small roads with one 😉 Motorbike is smart, and many others have bikes with them. Unfortunately, the weight restrictions on motorhomes of our size are quite restrictive, so we can't pack anything more... at all;)

It was still smart, to rent a car so you still have time to see everything you want to see when you are still there:)
