Yesterday, the travel booking site Travellink invited Swedish travel bloggers to a blog event at the Sheraton in Stockholm. We got to listen to presentations about three interesting travel destinations in Europe and meet the entire elite of Swedish travel bloggers. And then there was an award ceremony!
Table of contents
Presentation of destinations
Four different interesting destinations were presented at the Travellink event, with short lectures and films, brochures and delicacies from the different regions.
Marche, Italy
Marche is a region in Italy located on the east coast of central Italy. The capital of the region is Ancona and you can fly here directly from Stockholm - or drive a motorhome, of course. We learnt that the region has been awarded the best motorhome destination in Italy! In Marche there are plenty of local food producers, and we got to taste several delicacies from here such as hams, sausages, cheeses and baked fried olives with meat filling.
Courmayeur, Italy
Another exciting region in Italy presented was Courmayeur. This region is located on the Italian side of Mont Blanc and offers, among other things, an interesting destination for skiing. There is also good Italian food with some French inspiration, since the destination is so close to the French border.
Czech Republic
Czech Republic we have visited before and we agree that it is a country that has a lot to offer both in terms of nature and culture. During the event, we learned that the Czech Republic is the country with the most UNESCO world heritage sites per inhabitant and that it is very popular with "beer spas", i.e. spas where beer is used both externally and internally! In addition, we got to try Czech white wine that tasted really good.
Latvia
Finally, we had a presentation about Latvia, which was very interesting because we are actually flying to Latvia. Riga on Monday! Among other things, we learnt that there are plenty of exciting festivals in Latvia. We also heard about modern Latvian cuisine, which is no longer just meat and potatoes, but focuses on lighter dishes with locally produced ingredients. We hope to tell you more about this soon!
Collection of travel bloggers
The most fun thing about this type of blog event is that you get to meet a lot of other travel bloggers! The Swedish travel bloggers had really come together and we met many of our blogging friends.
It was so much fun and rewarding to meet all the "blog colleagues"! We would have liked to stay longer afterwards to talk even more with everyone, but had to rush on to the next event (which we will tell you more about soon). At least we were able to attend the award ceremony, when Annika Myhre from the blog Travel Friday won the prize for "Travel Story of the Year" and Lola Akinmade Åkerström won the prize for her Instagram account. Congratulations, we say!

We were invited but thought the travel cost was too high:):)!

Of course it was a very nice and rewarding evening! And fun to meet so many travel bloggers at the same time.
Now it's time to start planning your next trip, and there are plenty of options.
Have a nice trip to Riga and of course I am waiting for your report.

Cecilia says:
It's great to meet you. It's fantastic that so many people came.
Now we look forward to the next event!
Riga is a great city, was there 4 weeks ago. The food is delicious and affordable. Also Latvian beer, incredibly good! Look at the fine Jugend architecture and all the awesome churches!
I have to go to the Czech Republic and go to a beer spa, it was the funniest thing I've heard of, brand new too,
Lasse, it's worth coming to the events. Travellink will arrange for bloggers to be able to travel affordably to Stockholm.

Mr Steve says:
Great event with like-minded people. Fun to get tips on new exciting travel destinations.
In the 1990s, I worked a lot with Latvia when I was project manager for a SIDA project in which the Swedish Prison Service was to assist in developing Latvian correctional services, especially for young people in prison. I mostly worked with the youth centre in Cesis, a town less than 10 miles north of Riga.
At that time, Latvian cuisine was completely alien to lighter dishes. It was all about large and sturdy portions. It will be fun to read about the change.

Lennart, I understand you! If I was in Southern Europe, I would also find it expensive. But if you are closer sometime it is definitely worth coming! 🙂
Ditte, great to see you again! Too bad we were in a bit of a hurry, but I'm sure we'll see you again at another time!
Steve, interesting to hear about your experiences in Latvia and Latvian food! We are looking forward to walking some new experiences and telling you about them!
Cecilia, it was great to come! Interesting to hear about the destinations and fun to meet all the bloggers. We will gladly come again! Thanks also for the tips about Riga!

Anja says:
Riga is very nice and now there is probably a Christmas market too! Can be a little rockier with the boat than when you go to Tallinn (kind of risk of seven seasick sailors...), but maybe you fly? There's nothing wrong with the food if you just google a little before.... Thanks for the travel blog links!

BP says:
What a professionally organised blog event! WOW! The only thing I had hoped for was that you would take home the prize, but you can't get everything in life;-)
We have been to Riga and Jurmala four times. We love the city and the 20 minute train journey to Majori (Jurmala) is really worth it if you have the time. The food I remember as very varied and with all the cuisines of the world. There was also nothing wrong with the domestic food, apart from the disgusting beetroot soup.

Across the board says:
Great fun to read about! It's a bit far to travel from Tranås on a regular workday so I couldn't join in, despite the invitation.
Have fun and maybe we'll see you some other time.

Settle for a little more smaller format???

Fantasy travel, the same, very nice to meet again! 🙂 We are of course looking forward to the Riga trip and promise to return with a report! 🙂
Lina, you're welcome and thank you for the lovely words about our blog! Hugs
BP, it was actually professionally organised, we must say! We have heard about Jurmala and it sounds interesting, but I don't think there will be time there (fairly packed programme). The food will be interesting, but we will probably avoid the beetroot soup then! 😉
Anja, glad you like Riga! We will fly and Christmas market is booked! 🙂
We fully understand that it is a bit far to travel! But we will surely see you at another time! 🙂
Rolle and Carina, please join the Swedish travel blogs network if you want to receive similar invitations and connect with other travel bloggers! Just google it, and you'll find it!

Very cool thing to be part of - fun! Now I guess you have to return to Italy and do what you did not have time for. Who knows, you may have to take another year, horrible thought 😉 By the way, I thought that "beer spa" sounded very exciting, maybe something to try ....

My selfish self is happy that you are home in Sweden again so that we can meet for real and not just via comments on the blog and Insta... What a fantastic year you seem to have had. Looking forward to talking more next time we meet.
And thank you very much for the congratulations, I was of course very happy about the prize!
