Moving into a houseboat

Now we have come home from Riga and today it was finally time to move into the houseboat! How does it feel? Actually really good! We are incredibly happy with our 1 year round trip to Europe and it is fantastic to move back to such a beautiful environment.

Our houseboat

Our houseboat located in Pampas marina in Solna, Stockholm. The boat is originally a passenger sloop from the 1930s, which has been remodelled on several occasions. We bought it in 2013 and rebuilt it extensively in 2014. Most of the time we have lived in the boat we have renovated, but now we will actually just live here!

The surroundings are fantastic - water, birds, about 100 nice houseboat neighbours (in 40 houseboats) and only a few minutes to the metro. We think there's no better way to live, and it's certainly easier to come home from a long trip when you live like this!

Coming home and unpacking

We have spent the whole day today unpacking and getting organised. When we arrived at the houseboat it was clean and tidy, but totally empty of stuff. Our belongings were in cardboard boxes in a temporary storage room in the marina, as our usual storage room is not available. water damaged. We have driven cart after cart of stuff to be able to move into the boat. Then we have finally been able to celebrate with beer and prawns... How good!

We have had a lot of problems with the Internet (both the prepaid card from Comviq and the stick in the houseboat), but we hope to get it sorted out soon. We still have a lot to tell you about Riga (not least about all the fantastic restaurants), so we'll be back soon!
