Last Friday we took the train to Arboga to pick up our motorhome FREEDOM. The motorhome has been indoors this winter and our kind friends Thore and Catta in Arboga helped us take it to the inspection in the morning before we arrived. Unfortunately, the motorhome did not go through at once, and it suddenly became very urgent to get spare parts ...
Inspection of the motorhome
The camper van did not pass the inspection, and we were told that it had uneven brakes and bad brake pads. Thore was kind and promised to help us change to new pads the same day, but could not find any in the whole of Arboga.
He called us three hours before our train left Stockholm and said we had to get brake pads in Stockholm and bring them with us. We promise that we were on the move! It wasn't easy, but we succeeded in our mission and finally got on the train.
In Arboga we went straight to FREEDOM and changed the brake pads fast as hell. Then there was a re-inspection, and it was green and approved. Many thanks to our good friends for the help! By the way, have you seen their cool Independence motorhome?
Cleaning up and ready for the road
Our motorhome has been through a lot and to be honest, there are a few flaws here and there. The wrapping is scratched from driving on narrow gravel roads with dense vegetation and various repairs would be needed: the foot step is not usable, one of the stove plates is broken, a window is cracked and repaired with glue and so on.
Most things will have to wait a little longer, but now the car is inspected and ready for the road! We have also cleaned and washed the motorhome, both inside and out. Tomorrow you can see us on the road - from Arboga to Stockholm!

Lena & Jan says:
Beautiful, is it when the cleaning / fixing desire comes, inspiration is important but strange that only when it burns in the knot (as my grandmother said) THEN it gets done, you should also have a little luck sometimes as now when the parts were available immediately. Wondering if you feel seaweed sometimes, now that you are rolling on solid ground? Cool cars the friends have!

How lucky you were to have "stuck in" as it were. Not so easy to get spare parts in a short time.

It's great that spring is here - even if it feels doubtful when I look out the window!

Ditte says:
Good job to get the parts in such a short time and that you also got everything organised before the new inspection.
Looked in and saw Independence and thought he looked a bit like Freedom.
Understand that you have some work to do to restore the Freedom after the long journey because it was difficult there in places.

Shetlandsfrun, well it should be spring anyway... the fact is that it both snowed and hailed in Arboga yesterday!
Lena & Jan, you do get a bit more efficient under time pressure 😉 Nowadays it rarely rocks outside the boat, but in the beginning when we lived there the office at work rocked 😉.
JoY, it was a bit stressful you could say, but Peter called around and it worked out... but we didn't have much time to spare 😉.
Travelmania, you often work best under pressure! And spring, well it should be here, but yesterday there was snow and hail in Arboga 😉.
Marina, it's a bit doubtful when we look out too, but we decide it's ours anyway? 😉
Ditte, you are absolutely right that the motorhomes are similar! It's actually exactly the same model and even the same year model. Then there is a slightly different exterior design... 😉.
Lennart, thank you! 🙂

Talk about a great start to the motorhome season.
It's hard to believe what you write about defects. It looks brand new in the pictures.
The names Freedom and Independence suggest a similar motorhome philosophy.
I wish you an exciting and fruitful season on the road.

Biggeros, it's great to have friends who are there for you and who you can trust! Very nice that the inspection is done now and that we can be out and about again 🙂 ðŸ™'
Steve, haha it's so funny that you write this! We laugh a little ourselves when we see the car in pictures because it looks almost new. But we promise that it is not so when you look closer 😉 The foil is worn, scratched and discoloured. At some point we will have to re-dress the car.

Welcome back outside. Better late than never. Surely there must be some marks left from such a journey as you made. We ourselves are too scared of the car to make such a journey.

Ama de casa, the maiden voyage from Arboga to Stockholm went well, even though it snowed and hailed unnecessarily much 😉.
Frankie & Co, thank you very much! 🙂
BP, yes it was on the hair actually. Nice that we have a motorhome that is inspected and ready now!
Matts, thank you! Yes, better late than never! I understand that you want to take care of your car, but for us the most important thing is that the car can take us to the adventures we want to experience. When we have the opportunity, we try to fix what needs to be fixed!

Solan, I don't know if I believe that a picture never lies... 😉 What is the photographer's view on that? (If I also increase the contrast a little bit in the picture, it immediately looks even blacker and fresher ;)).
Aila, yes now we can run it again and it feels great! 🙂
Deciree, isn't it cool, the bamobile? 😉 Thanks and you too!
