We've been home this weekend enjoying the sun on the deck (when we haven't been inside working on the blog - I'm muttering a lot about complicated html coding at the moment). There has also been a walk along the beautiful Hornsberg beach.
Walk along Hornsberg beach
On Kungsholmen, on the other side of the water from our houseboat, is Hornsbergs strand. In the past, there were industries here and a sand and gravel arrangement. Today, Hornsbergs Strand has become an attractive area with expensive apartments and a fantastic promenade with barbecue areas, swimming areas and an outdoor gym. When we walked past the day before yesterday, the lawns and piers were full of people enjoying the sun.
Herring lunch without herring on deck
For our part, we decided to enjoy a herring lunch on deck. When we were already sitting on the potatoes, we realised that the herring was old, so we decided to have a herring lunch without herring: boiled potatoes, eggs, gravlax with courtmaster sauce and bread with a good strong cheese, and beer and nubbe of course. How has your weekend been?
Lennart says:
Now we have really got great weather.
The bushes are growing rapidly.

Ditte says:
Summery and beautiful pictures from an absolutely lovely Stockholm.
And now it feels like "everybody is out of the house".
It's great that Hornsberg's beach has been revitalised and made beautiful because the location along Lake Mälaren is really nice and it's a pleasant walking path.
Even the whole of Söder is buzzing with life, indeed the whole city. And there's also ESC on the way.
cosy to now be able to sit outside and eat. Perhaps it was lucky that the herring did not arrive, given the seagulls' interest.
Happy Sunday!

What wonderful days you have. Just like we have here at Getingstorp.
I was curious about that herring lunch.

Lennart, wonderful in every way! 🙂
Ditte, it certainly feels like everyone is out. And there are so many boats passing through here! Are seagulls particularly fond of herring...? 😉
Steve, I understand that you are also having great days now. Real summer!
Anette, indeed and great timing for the holiday! 🙂

What a beautiful walkway. Living by water has provided peace and quiet for people throughout history. You deserve it with all your commitment and I think you appreciate it too.

Yes, it is nice on Hornsbergstrand nowadays. You have again stood in the same place as me to take pictures. 🙂 But now it's a year since I took photos there. He he...

Haha! As it can be - luckily it's possible to improvise. Who needs that herring, really? 😉
The weekend has been nice, but much more grey than in Sweden 🙂 .

What a fantastic picture from Hornbergs Strand, which we visited last year and liked very much.
Oh it was a heavenly luck that you had salmon at home, even more luck that you could also fill the nubber glass;-)
We have just enjoyed the seventh consecutive day of fine weather. Let's hope it stays that way!

Lovely, lovely Stockholm! You have captured the atmosphere.
Sthlm is called the Venice of the North, but for me Stockholm takes the prize!

Matts, there's something special about water and we're always drawn to it, whether it's a houseboat or a motorhome! And we always appreciate it, especially after all the work we've done on the boat!
Comsi Comsa, glad we find the same places 😉.
Ama de casa, haha, no why should you have herring on a herring lunch...? Seriously, I like herring, but it turned out well anyway 😉.
BP, glad you like the picture! (It's Peter who took it, I know, he usually gets some extra good pictures ;)) And it was lucky that we had the salmon. Potatoes and nubbe would have felt a bit like that... simple, haha.
Alexandra, oh it sounds fun! Or maybe hard, haha?
Ruth in Virgina, Stockholm is nice! And haha, maybe not as common in the US with a cheese with a cheese slicer all the time 😉.
Elisabeth, yes it has been a fantastic weekend! And of course Stockholm is beautiful! Glad you like our pictures!
Jan and Marita, absolutely fantastic summer weather. Glad you like our pictures 🙂

Stockholm has so many beautiful spots, we have realised this now since we have had children living there for quite a few years now. The capital is definitely not just asphalt as you might think when you live in Värmland. It looks like you have found a nice place at Hornsberg beach. Really nice in order it seems to be.

Lived 15 years in a houseboat at Hornsbergstrand from 86. Then it was an industrial area and a sandpit.

Wonderfully lived in a houseboat on Hornsbergsstrand from 87 and 15 years onwards. At that time it was an industrial area and a sandpit. Moved from there when the youngest daughter of four was three years old. Wonderful boat neighbours.

Deciree, we love living by the water, fantastic!
Helga, we are having a good time on the houseboat 🙂 !
Inga Magnusson, I agree with you! Many people seem to think that Stockholm is just asphalt and high-rise buildings, but that's really not the case. There are many beautiful places!
Helene Jernberg, oh thank you so much for your comment, what fun to read! Did you live on the Hornsberg beach side (not in Pampas marina)? Were you disturbed by the construction there at that time? Were there many houseboats there then? Do you know where the boat you lived in went? Very interesting to hear about the history!
