You may remember that I dropped my mobile phone in the toilet some time ago? I was very happy that it survived, but apparently it just had a few extra months of life. A few days ago the phone died completely. And when I got a new one, all the unlikely problems with verification codes started ...
New iPhone - but no Apple ID
Fortunately, I was able to take over Peter's son Robin's old iPhone 5. All good? Well... The problems started when I tried to log in to the new phone with my Apple ID. Not only did I need an email address and password, but suddenly I needed a 6-digit code - which was sent to my dead mobile phone!
I called support and they tried to help me reset everything. Do you think it worked? No, because I had to confirm my identity with my bank card, which I had already replaced, it was not possible ...
New Apple ID - but no iCloud
Now there was only one solution according to the support team: get a new Apple ID. Not much fun, as you'd have to throw away all the old apps, but there wasn't much choice. I got a new one and logged in to the appstore with it.
But what about iCloud? I called the support team again and was told that I need to have the mobile phone's original receipt to get authorisation to log out of iCloud and switch to a new Apple ID. So, really?
New apps - but can't log in to accounting software
I now have a working mobile phone (without iCloud) and have re-downloaded all the apps. But I still can't write any invoices. The accounting programme's verification app (which I had to re-download) requires some kind of password to get started. Will it never end ...?
Verification and security are all well and good, but surely you should be able to change your phone? And when you do, must should you buy a new one? I'm very happy with my inherited iPhone 5, and I'm glad it's being used ...

Yes, gosh, you can get grey hair, ugh - for all the codes.
I have an iPad and I've scratched my head a few times over codes and verifications, otherwise it's great.
However, I love my Samsung Galaxy S6, not so many codes at all.
But, it's all about buying new, I think, sigh.
Good luck <3 maybe it will work out.

Goatfish says:
Yes, all the codes and verifications can make your hair turn grey.
And I wrote a comment here just now, it disappeared 😉 alas.
In short, I have both an iPad and a Samsung S6 and there is a difference. Apple wants a lot more controls.
Take care <3

Geddfish, yes you can get grey hair for less!!!! I guess they want you to buy new, but it's rather crazy really. And it is sooo hard when comments disappear...! Thanks for writing it, there was a whole bunch of comments in the spam for some reason. I usually check regularly, but now several had ended up there, for some reason. I approved your first one too, so you won't have problems next time you comment.

But you can go crazy for less. I wonder if it is the same on iPhone and Android or if it is different. I have a Mac that I'm super happy with but the iPhone and I, we never became real friends....

Further proof that I'm doing the right thing by opting out of iCloud ....
Codes and verifications and f.. and his aunt. I agree with you. When there are simple and ready-made programmes for identification. Can't believe they can start using that instead. .

I'm getting tired just reading this. I suddenly feel extra happy using my phone just for calls and texts.

Ama de casa says:
What a hassle! Almost makes you long for the old phones with number discs. You know the ones that were stuck with a cord in the wall... Or maybe you don't long for them, but it was undeniably less complicated 😉.
Hope everything works out!

Across the board, Geddfish writes above that there are less controls on android, so it is possible. I myself have only had iPhone. I like them very much when they work, but this makes me gaaalen ...!
Ann-Sofie, I have also "opted out" of iCloud now, or however you look at it, haha. This was just too much if you say so....
Steve, in this particular situation it would be good... (Although I like having the internet with me, I must admit,)
Ama de Casa, yes, you could say that... And this is the worst thing about today's technology. It's fun when it works, not so much fun when it doesn't...

Gah! Our oldest daughter dropped her mobile phone in the toilet too but it recovered... But now I know what to expect...

I actually couldn't read the whole thing, I was so tired. I hate that. Ugh and poor you! Speaking of mobile phone hassle, I read on a Facebook forum for Swedes living abroad that you can't get a mobile phone subscription if you move back to Sweden until you've worked there for six months (not that I'm going back, but that's impossible!) Here you just have to step in and get a subscription!

When my phone was stolen, I "just" had to get a new phone, a new SIM card and log in to my Windows account. Done! Took a few minutes.
And EVERYTHING was still there and all the apps were there except the photos. I my customer had not made an auto-update to OneDrive. I have it now and it's so smooth!!!
It was a positive experience amidst the misery of having a burglary.

What a job! How frustrating! Phew! The phone should just work...
I would suggest that you book an appointment in Täby at the Apple store and get help on the spot. Most things can usually be arranged there. I have been there a couple of times with my computer and have been super satisfied. In addition, the help has been free of charge.

Oh sigh and double sigh. Now I know why the husband is reluctant to replace his old iPhone 3.
Also, kudos to you for not following the trend of always having the latest models but settling for the five. Actually, I also have the five.
A hot tip: Go to the Apple Store in Täby centre, they work wonders. They are incredibly service minded and skilled.

Znogge, hope the daughter's phone lasts longer!!!
Åsa, haha, I understand you! I would also have liked to have avoided all that information... So weird about the subscription when you move back!!!
Emma, sun as sun, oh so nice that it worked out so smoothly and easily!!!!
Ditte, we have also been there before and were satisfied. This time we visited a dealer in town and they said there was no point in going to Täby with this problem... They gave us the phone number for support!
BP, thanks for the tip about Täby. We have been there before, but this time we got phone support instead. Hopefully it works better for your husband to change... but it's important to change before the old one breaks, I think 😉 Having the latest model is not the least bit important to me... 😉.
Lennart, can only agree!!!

Sounds like the commercial on TV when the father has to pick up his child from daycare. He can't do it without filling in a lot of documents. I'm losing patience myself!

Katta, well, when it can't even be solved with support help, you wonder what's wrong?

OMG today's connected society requires its woman (man) when there are accidents of various kinds with mobile phones and tablets, there should be less hassle, at least if you stick to the same supplier, switching should be painless. I use the iPhone 5s and am completely satisfied. If I replace my phone, it will be because Elin wants a mobile phone and I actually refuse to buy a new smartphone for a 10-year-old.

Åsa in Åsele, I actually had the iPhone before (4s) and have now switched to the iPhone 5. Shouldn't be so complicated... But since I inherited the phone from my son and don't have a receipt, they refuse to let me log out of my Apple ID. Soooo stupid I think! The phone is intact and bought by another family member - it's good that it will be used!!!????

Ann-Sofie says:
But if the bonus son writes a receipt for you. Then it should work, right?

Lots of other stuff and some concrete says:
Yes, it's not easy!
We got new mobiles at work and I had to ask my son for help... How many different usernames and passwords can you manage to keep track of?
Hope you can sort out the rest too!
