Now we have checked in at St George Residence - a real luxury hotel in Budapest. This hotel is in a great location on the Buda side of Budapest, just a few minutes walk from the Fisherman's Bastion and the castle. The hotel is luxurious, but above all it feels like you've moved a few hundred years back in time. Cool!

Travel with a busy programme
What a programme! We are in Budapest on a press trip, and the schedule is hectic to say the least. From the time we landed in Budapest at 14:30 yesterday until we got back to the hotel at 01:00 at night, it was full steam ahead.
First all the bloggers had to be driven around to their different hotels in the city, then we had time to check in and have a quick look at the hotel before it was time for the welcome dinner, which ended with a guided pub crawl... So far we can tell you about the fantastic hotel we checked in at!
Luxury hotels in Budapest
We are staying at the beautiful old hotel St George Residence. When we entered the room we thought it was for a king or queen or something, haha. Too bad we can't spend more time here! We won't be spending any more nights in Budapest, because during the day we will move to Pécs in the south-eastern corner of Hungary. You know that we love this kind of old. The furniture has a history and we like that, but one night is more than nothing.
Hotel environment and basement vaults
When holidaying in Budapest, you can take the opportunity to stay a little extra luxurious, as the prices are good. The last time we were here we stayed at Hotel Presidentand we were amazed at how much luxury we got for a reasonable price. This time we are staying at the St George Residence, and it really is a fascinating and impressive place. The building is 700 years old, and you can tell when you go down into the basement vault!
Location of the hotel
It's three minutes to the Fisherman's Bastion, the castle, the best views of Budapest and the Danube. In the evening, when they light up the city, you just have to bring your camera.

My German teacher (and tandem partner in German-Swedish) comes from Budapest. Maybe I should take a little road trip with her to experience Budapest from a Hungarian angle, would probably be exciting! Those ruin bars sound exciting even though I do not want either beer, spirits or drinks 🙂.

Matts, we can agree that the portions are large! Both for lunch and dinner we have received very good food, but also very large portions!
BP, haha, I (Helena) actually took this picture, but iofs on Peter's initiative that we would go and take pictures. Love that you guess! 😉
Lanclin, that sounds like a great idea! And I actually ordered a Coke at the bar 😉.
