Food and drink at Stora Nolia

The Stora Nolia fair in Piteå has an entire hall dedicated to food and drink. We found it yesterday and it was impossible to leave empty-handed, so to speak.

Feast on cheese and sausages

When you walk around the Food & Drink hall at Stora Nolia, you can really indulge in cheeses, sausages and other goodies. The various exhibitors stand close together, and at each stand you can sample - and of course buy. There are lots of different cheeses, different types of smoked meat, sausages (such as elk sausage, reindeer sausage, wild boar sausage and deer sausage) and even things like bread, olive, nuts and sweets.

Ost Stora Nolia — At the Åsbergets gårdsmejeri stand, we got to try the super good cheese Blå Astrid and a tarragon-marinated feta cheese made from goat's milk.

Ostar — We also found a really good cheese with lots of flavour at the Stompetoren stand.

Naughty nuts — At "Naughty Nuts", there were not only nuts but also pastries and dried fruit.

... or beer, wine and pintxos!

In the centre of the large food and beverage hall is a beer and wine tasting area. It offers both beer and wine, as well as different types of pintxos, which are like tapas on bread.

Local beers from Tjers bryggeri in Överkalix, Beer Studio in Umeå and Pite bryggeri in Piteå.

The cheerful and friendly girl in the Pintxos bar Tapas de Papá told me how to deal with the stress of a broken cash register in the middle of the rush....

Was anything taken home?

Of course, we couldn't resist shopping! We got several good cheeses, wild boar sausage, smoked pork, large capers and gahkku (Sami flatbread), which resulted in a fantastic buffet dinner. Of course, it was not completely free to shop at the fair, but everything tasted very good.

Oh so much good! Reindeer sausage... Mmm... And so many other tasty things too! 🙂

But I can't help but notice the sign: "Weak drink". That doesn't sound like a strong card... Haha!

My grandfather always had Svagdricka out in the barn in a big lady's jean. Memories... 🙂

I agree with Ama and her memory of the weak drink. It was the same at home. There was no alcohol, but the weak drink was available on special occasions, bought from the "brewer". 😀

Ama de casa, we also saw the weak drink thing... I can't believe we found a "clean sausage" haha.

Geddfish, glad you have memories of sword drink! It is a completely unknown drink to me, except that I have heard the word ...

Jenn, pintxos (or pinchos?) are not bad!

Znogge, it was not particularly cheap at the fair, but it was a real luxury dinner! And we still have some left in the cupboards too...;)

So nice with a lot of good cheeses and sausages. We would also have indulged and shopped there. We walked around Skänningemarknad the other day and what we brought for Ellen was cheese and sausages, and good bread!

The price can be completely ignored when it comes to food at fairs. But if it tastes good, it usually costs a little more. Sometimes much more!
I had definitely learnt a lot here and I was pleased that there was a wide range of local products.
I was tempted, so today there will be a look down in Hötorgshallen and surely some will come home with me.
Nice to have a Spanish element at the fair, but maybe it was Swedish-inspired tapas that were served....
A bit of what we call 'picking food'.
The dinner looked enjoyable!

Ditte, the pintxos bar felt a bit Spanish and there were also other foreign elements, but the biggest focus is probably local food! We have been told about even more local specialities, we will see if we have time to try 😉.

Nils-Åke, no it is not cheap! But as I said, good 😉

Across the board, it's very easy to get stuck in that particular hallway ...

Johanna, yes, I have understood that it is in Umeå every two years, so I can understand that you have been to the fair from time to time!
