We had thought that we would have time to experience the summer in the houseboat. Now we have flown around more than we thought perhaps - in Hungary, the Czech Republic and Poland - but we have still had nice summer days in the houseboat in between.
Everyday life in a houseboat
During the hottest days we have been swimming a lot. Peter jumps in directly from the deck and I (being a bit more hardy) use the bathing ladder that we have attached to the bridge. One day when Peter was swimming he realised that he should scrub the hull a bit. Then he took the opportunity to clean the small windows at the bottom as well ...
On another day, staff at the marina tested the emergency bridge, which is located underwater at the entrance. It is supposed to be able to be raised in case of fire, and must of course be tested from time to time. Not that hoisting it up is particularly fast, but it works anyway. And a poor perch got stuck on the way up ...
Serbian barbecue dinner in Stockholm
Sometimes we do some excursions from the houseboat too, and just before we left for Poland we were invited to a Serbian (!) barbecue dinner with our newfound friends Marko and Petra (who run the great lifestyle blog Pellas Inspiration) There were lots of good sausages, cevapcici, grilled vegetables and various sauces. Sooo heavenly good!
Marko, who is from Serbia, and Petra, who has been there many times, also told us about ski resorts and spas and all sorts of interesting things in Serbia, so of course we are now curious about travelling there. Have you or someone you know been to Serbia?

Great summer life!

Oh such cosy days! It is really a dream for me to be able to wake up and just take a dip outside the house if you feel like it! And jumping into the water is something I myself "learnt" this summer, haha! Have to hold your nose though 😉

Ama de casa says:
Haha! It was undeniably a different way of fishing 🙂 So good that there is such an emergency bridge, hopefully it will never have to be used (for anything other than fishing).
No, I've never been to Serbia, and I'll admit that I've never dipped myself in the sea here at home this year... I wonder if I'm leading the bathing pot brigade? 😉

Solan says:
The temperature in the bath? +22°? Looks great, lively on a boat... 🙂 🙂.

Ditte says:
Sure, it's nice to live right by the water and take a dip if you want to.
(For me it's too cold though...)
There has been some travelling this summer for you, but it can be combined with life on the houseboat. Good variety!
I haven't visited Serbia but I'm sure it's exciting. Maybe it will be a trip there for you.
And dinner with friends and Serbian food looks good.

Lennart, summer here is great! 🙂
Jenn, I'm impressed by anyone who dares to jump in like that (even those who hold their nose ;)).
Nils-Åke, that sounds like a nice (and tasty!) get-together 😉.
Diana's dreams, in summer it's extra nice here!
Ama de casa, maybe we should start fishing for dinner with that dock, hehe, and increase the household budget a bit 😉 I usually think I'm a bit of a hot tub myself, but it was so hot here for a few days that you just HAD to take a bath 😉.
Solan, it was 22 degrees last time we measured! You must come by some day! We are just a little bad at being at home at the moment, tomorrow we roll towards Piteå ...
Ditte, I usually think I'm a hot tub and I also don't want to bathe when it's too cold, but I think 22 degrees is probably quite reasonable actually ... But that's different. My mum takes a bath when it's much colder, and I wouldn't do that ...

Lena in Wales says:
How lovely it looks on and by your houseboat!
Yes, you really have been around for a while, must be nice to be home now, especially when you live as nicely as you do.
I'm also back home in Wales, but soon I'll be on the road again.
Have a nice day!

Lena in Wales, yes it is a bit nice to be home again. But it does not last long! Tomorrow we drive towards Piteå and the Stora Nolia fair 😉 Where are you going?
Steel city Anna, right? 😉
Lena, yes it is!
Steve, we don't have a bathtub inside the boat, but we have one outside 😉.

Goatfish says:
Haha, I have a bathtub inside. And, of course, I have Vänern a few hundred metres away from me, but I haven't bathed there yet, too many people. The sister-in-law lured me into the Öland Sea, and I was the first to take a dip. It was actually warm.
You look like you're having a great time - and so am I, I'm licking my wounds on the balcony, haha 😉 (a lot haha, here 😉 ).
😀

Veiken says:
Cosy worse! It is important to take advantage of the opportunity. Some people will do any job for a little fish on their plate.
Is it so clean in the marina that it's ok to swim? It looks that way anyway!
03 August 2016 - 15:54
Veiken says:
Incredibly cosy! Swedish summer is unbeatable!
Some people will do anything for a little square on the table! 😉
I wonder how clean it is inside the marina - for swimming I mean!

We have been swimming a lot in the lakes of Småland this year!
Have a nice trip to Noolia.......

You are never bored in the Marina. There's always something going on.
It wasn't exactly small portions that your friends served up. It's fun to try dishes from different countries.
Unfortunately, I do not know any people from Serbia.

Matts Torebring says:
I do what you do, climb into the water. I went diving once when I was a kid and had a belly flop, it was very painful. Since then, I prefer to climb down the ladder. It's great to swim in deep water, free of rocks and children playing.

admin says:
Geddfish, you have both a bathtub inside and outside! 😉 Oh, so there are so many people in Vänern? Yes, it will be when it is such a nice summer! Here it is mostly those who live who swim, but on the other side, at Hornsberg's beach, it is usually crowded.
Veiken, on the other side of the water, at Hornsberg's beach, they have made bathing places so it is certainly clean. Just in the inlet to the marina there can of course be many boats so I don't know if it will be perfect bathing water really, but it's enough for a few swims per year I guess 😉 .
Rolle and Carina, it's nice to have the water nearby when you really want to take a dip 😉 And thank you so much!
BP, haha, no it's really never boring here 😉.
Matts, a belly flop doesn't sound fun... I don't know what to blame, I'm just a bit hardy when it comes to water, but I still like to take a bath sometimes 😉.

How nice you have it. And lovely to have a bath.
We had dinner at Sjökrogen on Tuesday and then took a walk on the piers and saw your nice houseboat. Really cosy in the harbour with all the boats, life and movement. And delicious food at the restaurant.
The boathouse with the chandelier is just too lovely.
