Good end to our holiday

So we spent a week in Poland with our friends Lennart and Beata, who have a holiday apartment there. You may remember that things got a little unnecessarily dramatic when Peter and Lennart went sailing on a catamaran? Fortunately, they got their revenge!

We bought new fasteners for the mast in Gdynia and when the mast was mounted they set off again. This time the wind was pretty good and they got a lot of speed during a successful catamaran trip!

We also had one last, very nice, dinner with Beata's sister and her small family. Even though the family doesn't speak English (and even though our Polish is very limited) we have a good time every time we meet, with the help of gestures and Beata's translations.

Why summer holidays in Poland?

This time we visited our friends Lennart and Beata in Poland, but we have also been here several times on our own in our motorhome. We think the Polish coast is a great place for a summer holiday. Here are five reasons to holiday on the Polish coast in the summer:

  1. It is close to - You can fly cheaply with Ryanair from Skavsta to Gdansk or you can take your car/caravan with you on the train. ferry with Polferries (from Nynäshamn or Ystad), ferry with Unity Line (from Ystad), TT-Line ferry (from Trelleborg) or StenaLine ferry (from Karlskrona).
  2. It is cheap - Restaurants are often only half the price of what they cost in Sweden. It's nice to go out to eat when it doesn't have to cost a fortune!
  3. The beaches are fantastic - The sandy beaches are long, and you can choose between exclusive Sopot, tongue of land Hel or countless smaller places such as Rewa or Dziwnow.
  4. There are plenty of campsites - The campsites are affordable and located all along the Polish coastline, we have written about the campsites we have visited.
  5. There is much to see - If you're staying near the coast, you can check out the historically interesting city, for example. Gdansk, charming Gdynia or visit the castle Malbork.

Is there any reason to not What about summer holidays in Poland? Well, it would probably be the weather in that case. If you're lucky, it's fantastically nice and warm in the summer, but it's a bit like in Sweden - if you're unlucky, it can rain and get a bit cold.
