The big Elmia Husvagn Husbil fair not only showcases caravans and motorhomes, but also a lot of accessories. We've been on the lookout for new and clever camping gadgets. Here are six things for your camping holiday that you didn't know you needed.
Table of contents
New gadgets for your motorhome or caravan?
During our tour of the fair, we found a number of gadgets that piqued our interest in one way or another. Stay tuned!
1. prosafe caravan alarm
Prosafe is a modern alarm for your motorhome or caravan from JR Alarm Centre. You get all the alarms directly to your mobile phone and you can check the status of the motorhome or start the fridge or heater from home. The price is €11,900.
2nd Tennessee barbeque smoker
You can make a barbeque just like in the US, with a "smoker" where the flavours are enhanced with smoke from the smoked chips. The details include a large front shelf with space for grilling equipment and a large thermometer. The grill is available from Landmann and the price is SEK 7995.
3. lithium power supply
A small handy box that contains everything possible at once: 12 V - 100 ampere lithium battery, inverter, intelligent charger, DC-DC booster and something called "integrated distribution". The box comes from Reimo and is sold through Leisure Accessories and Campingvaruhuset. The price is about SEK 26,000.
4. Turn your bike into an electric bike
Do you have a bike but want an electric bike? Then you can bring your regular bike to Elcykelexperten and have it converted into an easy-to-pedal electric bike. The price is SEK 7300.
5. Switch to LPG gas
If you want to replace your regular LPG cylinders with a fixed installation with cylinders to refuel LPG (which may be easier if you are travelling for a longer period in Europe), you can do so with Alugas. The price, including installation, is between €8,000 and €10,000.
6. toy car
As a little bonus... If you can't afford to buy a new motorhome/caravan, you can pick up a small mini version. We found these at the KAMA Fritids stand, but they're probably available elsewhere too.
Have you also visited the Elmia fair? Did you find any smart camping gadgets?

Matts Torebring says:
The best thing that has happened this year, is the standard installation of a combustion toilet in the new Kabe Imperial... This and the installation of the LPG tanks on the "Slide out" are among the smartest things that have happened in recent years.

Mr Steve says:
Maybe I should get a toy house car for the grandchildren.

Lena - good for the soul says:
Haha, a lot of things that you can't live without 🙂 Fun for those who get started on such things of course.
Have a good Sunday!

Marina says:
...many things there are...! The closest motorhome I have come is probably the children's playmobil variant that was purchased at some point, but it was probably so fancy! (Maybe a little short of space, but still...)

Snows says:
There are apparently a lot of things that you shouldn't do without 😉.
11 September 2016 - 10:13
Ditte says:
Imagine how much you can need.... without realising it.
But the electric bike? Then I can buy one for the same price and still have the "exercise bike". But a good business idea perhaps....

Lena says:
The combustion toilet very interesting as well as the slideout for LPG bottles!
Thanks for great blogging during the fair!

So many smart things there are! Years ago we visited the Elmia fair on a couple of occasions, yes it is interesting, or was.
I enjoy watching technological developments. But electric bike, no, I'm not there yet either 😉.

Matts, yes, we did see that toilet, but we never went there and asked much. Sounds like a very smart solution!
Steve, haha, why not? 😉
Lena, there is a lot of stuff! Some things are really smart, but you have to choose. There are a lot of things that you can probably do just fine without as well 😉.
Marina, at least Playmobil is cheaper than a real camper van 😉.
Znogge, there's a bit of everything at this fair, I can assure you!
Ditte, there are both cheaper and more expensive electric bikes. Maybe they're a good alternative if you've bought a nicer regular bike and don't want both?
Lena, I agree that the combustion toilet sounds interesting! Maybe something that comes in more motorhomes in the future? And I'm glad you enjoyed our blog! There will be some more posts in the next few days.
Geddfish, yes there is a lot of clever stuff! If we're going to have bikes in our motorhome, they'll probably have to be foldable... Electric bikes certainly seem to be popular with many people!

åsa in åsele says:
The KAMA Fritids stand seems most in my price range 😉.
An electric bike might be something 😉

Ama de casa says:
There is so much stuff out there these days. And expensive! At least I think so.
Those KAMA make cars for the AMA, I think 😀.

BP says:
I have never actually seen a toy house car. Even I could imagine one of those. Then I thought of the Tennessee Barbeque Smoker. I thought that most of the time it is already crowded in motorhomes. Oh to bring the monster-sized Smoker....

Shamrock says:
I will check out Playmobiles. The nephews' birthday is coming up

Lots of other stuff and some concrete says:
I looked at the toy house cars...
I found, in my opinion, very nice plates in the same place. They look just like porcelain but are of course made of plastic. Too bad you can't buy on site but have to find a retailer.
We stopped by your place on Saturday a little before one but unfortunately you were not there at that time. Maybe it was lunchtime. But we saw your motorhome out there!
Greetings Agneta

Not only is it cheaper, it's easier to park too 😉.

Åsa in Åsele, things that have to do with motorhomes tend to cost...
Ama de casa, anything to do with motorhomes costs, whatever it is... Think it's the same with boats?
BP, there are construction vehicles 😉 .
Shamrock, they are nice! Would love to buy if I had someone to buy for 😉 .
Lots of other things and some concrete, oh so you were there? Too bad we didn't see you! Yes, we were probably at lunch then. Was there almost all Saturday otherwise. Glad you found nice plates!
Marina, haha, yes definitely!

Inga M says:
Hmmm... thinking that you need a motorhome of a good size for all the stuff you "must have" :-))

I was curious about the nice blankets in the first picture. Are they on the market now, and if so, from which retailer? Are there other products with similar motifs?
