You don't go to the Elmia fair just to look at new motorhomes and accessories, but also to meet friends, socialise and have fun. And we can promise you there's a good turnout! This is what it looks like when there is a party at Elmia Husvagn Husbil.
Dance evenings at Elmia
Both Friday and Saturday dance evenings were organised in Entré Syd (i.e. where we stood with our table) at Elmia Husvagn Husbil. Dance bands are not really our thing, but we looked past yesterday and must say that it was a good move, with full on the dance floor. It was Rezar with Lotta who played.
Oktoberfest at Elmia
In the tent outside the exhibition halls, Oktoberfest was organised for three evenings. What a draw! I don't think I've ever seen people letting loose so much to songs like "My hat has three edges" (in German) and choruses like "falleri, fallera". The food wasn't great (half a grilled chicken with a pretzel is a German idea, right?) but what's the point when you can drink beer and dance all night?
Elvis is alive
Best of all, though, was the more unofficial "Elvis" show outside one of the big American motorhomes at the fairground. We arrived just in time, when the lights were switched on around the Elvis sign on the back of the motorhome and the people lined up around it. The Elvis show has apparently come back year after year and we understand that people like it. Elvis on the road - could it get any better?
Lennart says:
Elmia is one of the highlights of the year!
Popular, festive and full of spice!

It was nice to meet you at the fair!!!

Across the board says:
Elmia is really a highlight. Always as fun, even though it was the eleventh time in a row this year 🙂.

BP says:
Put it this way - I would probably have left before the dance and show evening. But I understand that most motorhome owners who are a bit older like such entertainment;-)

Matts Torebring says:
Elmia is this year's big Wheel Eve. It's just so much fun. We have so much fun anyway, so we have never been to "After Work".

Alexandra says:
Haha I would have liked to see Elvis. It seems that Oktoberfest was a little more fun than the barbecue buffet. I would have gladly skipped it in retrospect and had a little more rest time haha (I'm not like the pensioners who can keep going as long as possible). It was great fun to meet you anyway! ?

Lena - good for the soul says:
Hahaha, the crazier and crazier the more fun! Fun with full speed! Now you probably need to come home and rest a little. Or a lot 🙂

Lennart, really a highlight! Hope we can come back!
Krisztina, you too! It's great that you wanted to come and talk to us!
Criss-cross, wow, impressive number of visits you made!
BP, the Elvis performance was so nice 🙂 .
Matts, I can understand that. It's nice just to spend time with the people around you!
Alexandra, the barbecue buffet really sounded way too expensive!!! The food at the Oktoberfest was not worth the money either, but at least there was some fun partying.
Lena, now we need to rest! (But tomorrow I start a new full-time job... ;))

Freya says:
Varied entertainment, but where are the punk bands that could have attracted me? 😉
11 September 2016 - 23:23
Anette says:
What a rush? Have to admire the woman in the high-heeled red shoes dancing away on the lawn.
You seem to have had a great time.

Freja, haha, we didn't find it unfortunately 😉.
Anette, she was admirable, and kept going for quite a while 😉.

Mary of Rövarhamn says:
You are too good. One thing I wonder, you as we move in several worlds. Where do you feel most at home/what is the most fun? ELMIA, or like MATKA/NBE. No diplomatic answer now, but honestly?

nils-åke says:
Elvis was the best entertainment.

Mary af Rövarhamn, what a great question! I MUST answer somewhere in between (it's not a diplomatic answer! ;)) We have tried to explain our niche in the words travel-adventure-camping. We like the more adventurous and exploratory travelling. Motorhomes are perfect for that and many motorhomers travel that way. Then there is another side of camping (such as seasonal camping with a caravan) where we don't feel as at home... And we like to travel in more ways - flying, backpacking... Elmia and motorhome bloggers feel in a way most at home BUT what we get at such as NBE / Matka is about blogging and strategies in the blog world on a completely different level. We are super interested in that, and you don't get any of that at Elmia ...
Nils-Åke, agree!!!

Mary of Rövarhamn says:
Ok. I think I get it 🙂 Passion vs work. Heart vs brain. Sometimes you manage to satisfy both sides. Sometimes not. Love, Linda

Ama de casa says:
Haha! What a move! 🙂
Fast is Elvis - just a week ago we saw him in Las Vegas 😉.
12 September 2016 - 16:14
admin says:
Mary af Rövarhamn, yes, it is a bit like that, heart vs brain. Good description! Hugs to you
Ama de casa, that Elvis must be fast as the wind (or maybe he has a flying campervan ;)).

Elisabeth says:
Great to be involved through you!
