Are you keen to travel this autumn? Maybe a weekend or a slightly longer trip to one of the cheapest big cities this autumn? FOREX has just presented an up-to-date city index, with prices in relation to prices in Stockholm. We present which cities you should visit if you want to live, eat and shop cheaply this autumn.
Stockholm has an index of 100 and all other cities have been given a number in relation to it. We present some cities where prices are about half, or even less, compared to Stockholm. There are also more expensive cities that have dropped significantly in price. Paris has fallen to an index of 76, and London has dropped from 122 to 107. The most expensive holiday destinations are in Reykjavik (155), followed by New York and San Francisco.

I see that I am travelling in the cheap part of the world. This is good because the more I can travel 🙂 .
Next week we will be travelling to Manila.

Nice cities, all of them.
I can imagine visiting most of them in Europe, some of which we have visited.
But it won't be this winter!

We're going to Fuerteventura in November and that's probably the only trip we'll make this autumn. However, I would like to go to Vilnius. ?

We will probably take the motorhome south! But we have friends in New York and kids going to Lisbon and the Philippines.

Anette, it does make it easier to travel more if the prices are not too high. Wishing you a nice trip to Manila!
Lennart, there are many interesting cities in Eastern Europe, which are also affordable. We have also visited some of them, but we still have several left!
Diana's dreams, how fun that you booked new trips! Must go in to you and check 🙂
Alexandra, Fuerteventura will probably be a great break in dark November! Vilnius I was in just over 20 years ago ... would love to go back now!
Nils-Åke, great to travel south with the motorhome! Lisbon was also reasonably good in price according to the index, but a little higher than the ones I listed.

Åsa says:
I read somewhere that Lisbon is probably the cheapest in Western Europe, plus it's the sunniest capital in Europe. And noticed. I'm staying here, but you already know that.

Oh, how I wish there were finances, opportunity and chance to go away, like just over a weekend would be nice... but right now it's just to like the situation, however sad it is 😉.

Ama de casa says:
There is so much you want to do and see! 🙂
I think we might have a trip coming up. Right now 🙂
Have a great start to the week!
PS: The rodeo was on Saturday. Yesterday we took it very easy 😀.

Ditte says:
We have Madrid coming up and dte regardless of the price level. But the fact that tea is fairly cheap is no disadvantage. Otherwise, I have visited half of the cities on the list in Europe.
In the world, Cape Town and Seoul are waiting for me and I have visited the others. And some cities in Asia have had multiple visits.
On the other hand, I don't feel that the price is decisive for travelling, but the destination itself.
It's always fun to see how different cities are ranked.

Åsa, Lisbon had a pretty good index too and is a charming city! (But Berlin actually had a lower index ;))
Znogge, welcome to Stockholm! Stockholm is a nice city (albeit with a slightly high price index ;)).
Steve, in October we have a new trip coming up!
Åsa in Åsele, yes, sometimes it is just as you say to like the situation. Wishing you a nice week!
Ama de casa, haha ok then, but it seems like something is ALWAYS happening on your blog, if it's not a dramatic cliff, it's a rodeo 😉.
Ditte, I agree that there are many factors other than price that are important, but if you have a limited budget, the price can play a role 😉.

Matts Torebring says:
When I've had the most stressful time, I usually dream of driving out with the campervan to a spruce plantation in the forest and feeding a Bullfinch or a Talgoxen and just sitting and watching them. The big cities do not attract me. Ugh, I was boring and disgusting now, but honest.
19 September 2016 - 18:44
admin says:
Matts, it's good that you can have different opinions, and the big cities are crowded anyway, so it's perfectly fine for you to join the kids in the woods instead 😉.

Always exciting to see which cities are the cheapest! I was surprised that Skopje was not high on the first list then. It is one of the cheapest cities in Europe in my experience. Maybe Forex hasn't included Macedonia? That cities in Russia are also so cheap was surprising!
Of the cities on the first list, I would love to visit Bucharest. I have heard that it is a very interesting city!

I have a lot of cheap cities left to visit, especially in Europe, and many of them are on my list of cities to visit and it's always good to have something to look forward to.

I would like to try to get a long weekend somewhere in Europe this autumn, and of the places you list I am probably most curious about Belgrade, Ljubljana and Bucharest. But I would prefer to combine Ljubljana and Bucharest with a longer trip in Slovenia and Romania. We'll see what happens in the autumn - there are so many places to choose from 🙂.
