We received a question from one of our readers wondering what motorhomes are available for large families with children, i.e. families with up to four children. We have of course accepted the challenge and looked for family motorhomes with 6 belted seats here at Elmia Husvagn Husbil.
We thought it would be difficult to find motorhomes with 6 belted seats, but we actually found such motorhomes from four different brands here at Elmia Husvagn Husbil. In addition, the sales representatives of two more brands told us about family motorhomes that they could not show on site. Perhaps you have tips on other motorhome brands that sell motorhomes with 6 belted seats?
Table of contents
Rimor Seal 9
The Rimor Seal 9 is 7.3 metres long and weighs either 3.5 or 3.65 tonnes. There are actually 7 belted seats and 6-7 beds (the seventh is probably best suited for a small child). The motorhome is equipped with rear bunk beds and costs £549k.
Sunlight A70 and A72
Sunlight has two models with 6 belted seats: A70 and A72. Both cars are 7.3 metres long and weigh 3.5 tonnes. The real difference between the two models is that the A70 has a high double bed at the rear while the A72 has a bunk bed at the rear. The price is the same for both: €573 thousand.
Carado A 461
The Carado family motorhome with 6 belted seats is 7.3 metres long and weighs 3.5 tonnes. This motorhome is equipped with rear bunk beds and the basic price is €535,000.
Bürstner LYSEO A 700
The Bürstner Lyseo A 700 is 7.10 metres long and weighs 3.5 tonnes. This motorhome also has 6 belted seats and is furnished with a high double bed at the rear. The price is €539,000.
Laika Ecovip with alcove
Laika is not showing any motorhomes with 6 belted seats at the fair. Instead, the sales staff told us about the Laika Ecovip with alcove, which is available in a few different versions. These motorhomes are between 6.25 and 7.20 metres long and weigh 3.5 or 3.85 tonnes. The price is between €710,000 and €730,000.
Dethleffs Trend and Esprit Comfort
Dethleffs is not showing any motorhomes with 6 belted seats at the fair, but the sales representatives told us about two different models. The Trend Alkov is 6.50 or 7.10 metres and the Esprit Comfort Alkov is 8.6 metres. The Trend Alkov costs 633 thousand or 656 thousand and the mighty Esprit Comfort Alkov costs 1.02 million (Master Class 1) or 1.05 million (Master Class 2).

That's great! What research! "Everyone can fit". That's not always the case.

Thank you very much! For looking into this. Can you really fit 6 people in a 3.5 tonne car?
We were disappointed with Dethleff. They did not bring their big family car 9000.

Now, I have no experience with motorhomes, but it's fun to look into them and see all the fantastic interior design and thinking.
No wonder the motorhomes look like big elephants, haha!
Be well! /Gerd

The question is whether weights under 4-5 tonnes are sufficient for a family of 4 children...
But it's good that you checked... I'm sure it will help many...

Matts, it's great that motorhomes are also available for families with children. Most motorhomes seem to be built for mainly two people (with room for two guests).
Malin, thank you very much for your comment and point of view! I suspect that the load weight may be a problem, i.e. once you have loaded all the people, the weight space for loading stuff is probably very limited. The question is whether you can "weight up" them to a higher weight class? But then, on the other hand, another driving licence is required (unless you have an older driving licence, but in families with small children you probably don't have that).
Monica Bergqvist, it was a fun mission to look for family cars! There are more target groups than "active seniors" who want to travel by motorhome. What several people have pointed out (both here and on FB) is that the load weight in these motorhomes can be a problem. So check how many kilos you can load! Some motorhomes (I have no idea what applies to these) can be "weighed up" to a higher total weight, but then another driving licence is required.
Geddfish, yes they can be big sometimes, but then there are kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms in them too 😉 .
Aila, yes that is probably the important question here! I've answered a bit about this in the comments above...

At first I thought you had made a mistake under the first picture. Six beds I thought it would be. Haha! That says everything about my motorhome knowledge... 😉.

Mr Peter Rydh says:
An alternative is the elnagh baron 22 which has no less than 7 belted seats and is available up to 4250kg total weight, it should give a load weight of 1200-1300kg, as far as I know it is hard to beat and the fact that the construction is completely wood-free does not make things worse.

MOTORHOME HOLIDAYS & ADVENTURE says:
We have a Dethleffs Trend 7877-2 which we think is a perfect family car with 6 belted seats or for those who want space and proper living space. Our car which is model year 2018 has a load weight of 1373kg. Now I saw that Detlheffs reduced the total weight of the 2020 model year to 5000 from 5400kg, but then at least 973kg remains as a load weight. If the driving licence does not limit the weight.
