The trip down to the Caravan Club's member meeting in Kristinehamn was... much more dramatic than expected, but when we woke up on Saturday morning we were still determined to do the lecture about our campervan journey through Europe. Our friends Thore and Catta picked us up in their motorhome and we arrived at Husbilslandet half an hour before we were due to start the lecture.
Lecturing together
This was actually the first time we lectured together, and it was a lot of fun. We started by showing a map of our 1 year long trip to Europe and then showed pictures from the entire trip, from Normandy on the west coast of France all the way to Albania, Macedonia and Croatia. At the end we finished with some practical tips on what to consider when travelling with a motorhome in Europe.
We received many positive comments about the lecture during the rest of the day and a lot of questions about Corsica, Albania, what the trip cost, how it works with gas and so on, so it felt very fun. We also got some constructive suggestions, so hopefully we can make this and other lectures even better for another time.
Member meeting with 80-man choir ...
We stayed all day and evening at the Caravan Club member meeting, and we must say that it was very nice with a nicely organised programme. In the afternoon the Bast choir came, consisting of 80 (!) choir singers. The choir leader was really entertaining and we in the audience could not only listen, but also sing along and solve a music quiz, so it was definitely more fun than expected.
... and party
A little later it was time for a communal dinner (cold cuts with potato gratin, salad and bread) and entertainment by a band. In addition to playing and singing themselves, the band invited brave club members to perform various tasks - from singing with the band, to getting a drink, to playing on a washboard.
There was also a different kind of music quiz and we went all out with our table team "Superbock" (our Portugal-loving table neighbours were drinking the Portuguese beer Superbock). Despite a fierce battle, we didn't even come close to winning, but we had fun anyway.
We stayed in Thore and Catta's motorhome and on Sunday we followed them to Arboga, and from there we took the train back to Stockholm. We thank the Caravan Club for a very nice weekend! The motorhome (which is in the workshop in Kristinehamn) we will call about today Monday.

Elisabeth, yes that was lucky! And nice with a nice ending to a weekend that started quite tough.
Lena, yes it did, and it was very nice!
Deciree, yes it will be interesting to hear what is wrong with the motorhome. One hopes that it is not too difficult to fix ...

Fun to lecture about the most fun you can do and I can imagine that many were interested, My grandmother always said - "What the heart is full of, the mouth speaks" and then it is easy to talk about motorhomes and travelling 😀.

Mr Steve says:
This drama added an extra spice to the lecture. Further proof that motorhome life is eventful. Nice to end with a party anyway. And choir singing as well.

Anonymous (although I know who it is ;)), very nice to meet you! We talk more about Corsica in the future! 🙂
Across and across, that's exactly how it is! Motorhome and travel is the most fun we know, and then it's also fun to talk about 🙂
Steve, haha, yes it started a bit too dramatically ... but it was nice to have a good ending!
Lennart, yes indeed! It would have been extremely boring if we had not arrived!

It's always easier to talk about something you're passionate about.
And how fortunate that you were able to realise the plan despite the setback of the car problem, which is now almost fixed.
Oh, today is Halloween, I know, even though I don't celebrate it 😀.
HelloVinKram 😉

"All's well that ends well! and hope the Freedom is not in too bad a condition....
Good friends are worth their weight in gold and it's great that you were able to make it to the lecture. It was fun to do it together and I'm sure the audience appreciated hearing about your European trip because there is a lot to think about.
It was also a nice evening.
And home you came...
Fortunately, the train was in shape ...

Ama de casa says:
Wow, you must have arrived with your breath in your throat. I would have died of nervousness not being able to make the journey there...
Good on you for getting there and giving the talk anyway. Talking positively about motorhome travel when that unfortunate thing had just happened. I would have been pretty angry with the motorhome at that point.
In any case, it was nice, and Freedom will surely be healthy and well again.

Thank goodness you made it! We ourselves almost collided with a deer on the way home from Sala. Really unpleasant but luckily it went well.

Successful presentation and lots of people, perfect forum! A little plaster on the wound with the mess before, keep your fingers crossed that it solves with the motorhome and does not become too costly!

Luckily you got to have some fun this weekend at least! I myself know what it is like to stand on the roadside and wait for help, we in turn had to look for the vests, which were not where they should be ... now I immediately got an idea to put a warning triangle there too! Hope there is not much wrong with the motorhome and that you get it back soon! Continued nice week/Anette

Veiken says:
I'm glad you got here in time. It's no fun when dead things stop working. There's nothing you can do either. It worked out in the end and you were able to give your lecture!

Helena says:
Glad you could lecture anyway and hope it's not too bad with Freedom!

Congratulations on a successful lecture after all the trouble with Freedom. Oh what fun entertainment for the "pansies".
We hope that Freedom is well looked after by the Fiat workshop and that you can bring him home before the snow storm that SMHI has threatened.
PS. Heavenly nice jacket you have Helena! DS.

Fantastic journeys, thank you! And nice to see you today! 🙂
Geddfish, thanks for the info on Halloween, I got a bit confused there. Somehow thought it would be a weekend, but now I understand!
Anette Åhnbrink, yes it's good to have the warning triangle where you can access it ... we discovered that! The workshop hasn't had time to look at the campervan yet, so we don't know much yet ...
Ditte, yes the rest of the weekend was very nice! We are of course a bit worried about Freedom, but we'll just have to wait and see until the workshop has had time to look at him ...
Ama de casa, we laughed a bit at ourselves, we who would seem a bit experienced and didn't even know where to put the warning triangle, haha. Oh well, we got there anyway... 😉.
Fantasy Dining, oh what luck that we did not collide with the deer. You do not want to be involved in that!!!
Lena, yes, it was nice to have a nice weekend after that and other things to think about!
Nils-Åke, nice that you recognise some of the pictures! 🙂
The road, no you are really powerless when the car stops working so completely... Good that we arrived, now it remains to be seen what happens to the motorhome.
Helena, thank you, yes we were very happy that we could organise the lecture!
BP, thank you! And funny that you like my jacket! 🙂 The workshop apparently has a lot to do now (tyre replacements) so we'll see when they have time to look at our little baby....
Annika, yes the weekend was fun, and it was probably good with all the positive energy after the difficult start!
Matts, yes, it was nice that it went well and that it was so much fun. There was positive energy after all the misery on the nerve centre.

Steve, yes, that is indeed the case!
Camilla, it wasn't much fun when the campervan broke down right away, but now there's not much more to do than wait for a response from the garage ...
Hasse, yes a name is needed for the comment to go through 😉 Corsica is great!!!! 🙂
