Last Thursday, Peter visited the Senior Fair at Stockholmsmässan in Älvsjö. We had heard that many exhibitors in travel & tourism would be there and of course wanted to check the situation. And yes, many travel destinations were there!
Senior fair for the over 55s
The Senior Fair was held in Stockholm for the 22nd time on 18-20 October. Many different exhibitors were present, showing everything from clothes and comfortable shoes to glasses, insurance, SPA and, of course ... travelling!
Lots of travel inspiration at the fair
Peter thought it was a nice fair and came home with brochures from a lot of interesting destinations. We meet the different countries' tourist organisations from time to time, so there were some familiar meetings, but also many new pleasant and interesting acquaintances.
The question is always, where should you go next? Do you fancy one of the destinations below - or do you have another trip planned? Maybe you were at the Senior Fair and saw something interesting?

We miss both it and Kista!

Aila says:
Portugal is interesting. Seems so nice to winter there with a motorhome.

Ama de casa says:
No, I will definitely miss that fair, even though it is actually aimed at people like me. How did that happen? Where did the years go??? 😉.

I've never been to Cyprus, so why not?

Across the board says:
I didn't even know that fair existed Interesting for us 55+ hihi

Ditte says:
I didn't attend the fair, but fairs can be fun from several aspects.
South Africa is the one that most appeals to us. The other countries I have visited and some several times, but there are always places in countries you have visited that you have not seen. Unfortunately, time is not infinite....

Matts Torebring says:
We will probably choose countries with road access, or short boat trips, so we can travel with a motorhome and not have to book and not be able to travel when the time comes.

Evy Knoph says:
Well, I guess I can now count myself among the target group :-). Well. .don't know if any of them are particularly attractive to me..maybe Tallin and DM-bar then... Vilnius is probably the most boring city I've visited..but of course managed to sniff out some local market there too :-). Cyprus maybe sometime if you would go on a charter week or something.
Well spotted anyway!

Mr Steve says:
Malta, Estonia, Cascais, Cyprus bring back good memories for me and since I have finished travelling, I can live on travel memories. And of course, through Freedomtravel I can keep up with your journeys.

Lennart, you have other nice things to do! 🙂
Aila, we loved Portugal! The climate was nice there in winter, especially during the day!
Ama de casa, time has a tendency to go a little faster than you would like sometimes ... 😉.
Znogge, you always find some new destinations to be curious about!
Kors och Tvärs, this fair is being organised in several parts of the country, and we have just realised that there is a very large focus on travel in particular.
Ditte, time is not infinite, so there's always the matter of prioritising and choosing ...
Matts, travelling with a motorhome is often the best way to go!
Evy Knoph, did you find Vilnius so boring? I've been there, but it's a very long time ago and I was very young then, so I could probably imagine checking out the city again.
Steve, travel memories are always with you! And it's great that you want to "travel" with us! 🙂

Emma, sun like sun? says:
I'm not in that target group yet, have a bunch of years left but suddenly! you are there I guess. If you had a senior fair here on the Sunshine Coast, it would probably be well attended. Oh, now I was mean again.

BP says:
Nice that you also go to fairs and check the situation;-)
We have visited many of the destinations, but not Lithuania. The funny thing is that if you have visited a country/place a long time ago, you are really surprised when you go there again. What is left? What do you remember? How much new has been added? We call it "Walking Memory Lane".

Goatfish says:
I can't believe I haven't been to any of these destinations!
What would attract me is Malta and Portugal.
Maybe Cyprus too. I want sun and warmth.
Nice Sunday evening ♥

It's always inspiring to visit travel fairs, but it's a bit of a drag!

Lena & Jan says:
Well, too many colourful posters and brochures are not my/our thing! Rather inform myself/us via "real people" who have been there or write travel stories/blogs with self-experience ? ?

Mum C says:
There was plenty to choose from.

Emma, I'm not there either in terms of age, but the trips can be interesting regardless 😉 And I understand that some of those who have the opportunity (preferably seniors) move down to the sunny coast!
BP, yes a lot of fairs! 😉 Interesting what you say! Yes, I will probably feel that way if I go to Lithuania or Cyprus, places where I have been but where it has been several decades....
We really like Geddfish, Malta and Portugal! I have some strange memories of Cyprus because I broke up with my ex there, but I can't blame Cyprus for that 😉 Could be interesting to go there with new eyes!
Stare Ström, well that's easy to do... 😉 .
Lena & Jan, I absolutely understand what you mean! I probably like to look at fairs and so on, but when it comes down to it, it is blogs, forums and other personal descriptions that I trust the most!
Mum C, there are always lots of destinations to get curious about! 🙂
Deciree, I've heard about it before, but we didn't realise there was so much focus on travel.
Yvonne, thank you! We have been resting after various ailments and at the same time trying to catch up with work, as we have been behind.

Eva says:
As I (we) do not have a motorhome or caravan, we have no reason to visit such a fair.
But I can understand for those of you who are travelling around that fairs are exciting.
We travel in many other ways, there is a lot to see in our big world. If you have not been to Poland, I can highly recommend the country to you.
There are many beautiful things to see and many camping sites, for us Scandinavians it is cheap to eat etc. in Poland. There is everything you need there and the prices are plus for us.
Be well/ Eva

Eva, thank you for your comment! The senior fair has nothing to do with motorhomes or caravans 😉 Is it our picture with a motorhome at the top that makes you think we only write about motorhomes...? We will probably have to think about whether we should do something about that picture maybe! We write about travel both with and without a motorhome, and this year we have probably travelled the most without a motorhome actually. Right now we are writing about Malta where we spent a week just recently. Thanks for the tip about Poland! We have been there several times (both with and without a motorhome) and really agree - a nice and interesting country with a very good price range! Have a great time!
