It feels like we're just working and working right now. It's mostly exciting, fun and interesting work, but sometimes it can be a little too much of a good thing, so to speak. We will sit in front of the computers a lot this weekend ... When I write this, it is 03:30 and the new post should be out in two and a half hours.
Government missions
As many of you already know, I will soon be starting an new jobbut before that I have to finish my old job. I am currently compiling a report that is part of a government commission, which is due to be submitted to the Public Health Agency on Monday.
Our part of the assignment has been to summarise what the all international and Nordic research says about efforts to promote good eating and exercise habits in the population. A gigantic task really, and despite a systematic strategy and the help of three employees, we are not quite ready. We will be working all weekend, so to speak ...
Work with blog and lectures
Peter is busy starting to plan our lectures for this year. Caravan Stockholm 2017. He also works on the Monday posts for "FREEDOMtravelnews". Every Monday he will write about news in technology, digital media, travel and camping. What will it be about on Monday? Yes, it will be a surprise.
In other words, we will be in the houseboat working a lot this weekend. What does your weekend look like?
Lennart says:
Yes, it can be.
Here we run with 4:3 which means festivities Friday-Sunday.

Free from work this weekend?

Peter says:
There will be a lot of work here too, as holidaymakers around the world want to go on a cruise and someone has to design the equipment for the new boats that are on the way.
When it comes to cruise ships, it is high pressure and there are very interesting projects going on, it is all a bit fun to know (much) more about new projects that are only speculated about on the web! 🙂

Ama de casa says:
It looks like there will be a lot of sitting in here too, but not because of work but more because of the miserable weather. But they have been wrong before, the weathermen. Keep your fingers crossed for it 🙂
My goodness, what a lot of work - ALL the research? How do you even find that material? Good luck now on the riot then! 🙂

Go, go, go, go! It will be exciting to read the results later! ☺

Lennart, enjoy the festivities! 🙂
Lena, things tend to pile up sometimes 😉 Have a nice weekend!
Imelda, that sounds nice! Have a nice weekend!
Peter, oh then you make us curious! 🙂 Wonder what news is coming up...!?
Ama de casa, we've been seeing a lot of pictures of the southern storm on the internet and in the blogosphere!!! Well, how do you do it? We decided not to look at original research but only at systematic reviews of research. We started with selection criteria and then a librarian helped us to search research databases. The search resulted in several thousand hits, which we then went through manually to decide which knowledge reviews to include according to the selection criteria. We then reviewed and summarised the content of these ...
Anja, thank you! Phew, yes! It's almost like I also think it will be interesting. It is difficult to have time to reflect on the result while you are in the middle of the stress of the final spurt 😉 We have found a lot, I think, while it is of course quite comprehensive ...

What a challenge, your final job! Read a bit in the comments up here too, where you explain 😀.
Blogging on top of that, yes, it requires preparation. For both of you 😀.
The sun is shining today, again. I go out for a walk and around four o'clock I walk down to the city, to the installation and festivities. Apparently I've been elected Financial Secretary. Tomorrow is quiet, so I'm happy with everything.
Hugs on Hug Day?

Mr Lars Permelin says:
I can't say I have much to do. I will go for a walk with the vacuum cleaner downstairs, the upstairs was finished yesterday. Then a walk with Nellie, our little Cavalier. In the afternoon I thought I would print some pictures on the photo printer. It feels good, actually a bit luxurious, to have some selected pictures on real photo paper sometimes.

It looks like you will have a cosy work-in-the-boat weekend after all. Here in Vietnam, the rainy season is over and it's the last weekend before Tet, the New Year celebration, when everything shuts down.

Ditte says:
An interesting and exciting mission, but of course time-consuming. And now with a finish line on Monday. Good luck!
I'll try to get hold of the report eventually because this with food and physical/mental health interests me a lot. (I have a friend who is a professor of culinary physiology at KS/Huddinge and she has researched this in various contexts over the years so I have received some info on the subject).
Exciting also with both a new job for you Helena and other things happening around and in the centre.
It won't be the nice outdoors I had hoped for, the weather is not stable, but on the other hand, there are plenty of books and a wide range of nice restaurants. So we will manage.
Have a nice weekend.

Ending one job and starting a new one always means a lot of work, but I hope there will be time for some relaxation as well. Today I'm not doing anything special but tomorrow there will be a book circle. Always nice to discuss books with like-minded people 😀.
Happy Saturday!

Right now we're sitting by the ski track in Ulricehamn in a bright sunshine celebrating Charlotte Kalla's bronze medal. So much fun with such an event so far south and more than 55000 tickets sold... Tomorrow we will finish the Fotoklubben exhibition about "The city in the past and now" at Falköping museum and suddenly it's Monday and a new working week for those of us who still belong to the working class....

At 03:30 you wrote! Oh my god! Then at least I usually sleep deeply! Do not understand that you can blog at that time after working all day and half the night. Hope you get paid well for all the hard work and that your new job is less demanding - at least at night.
There is definitely no work to be done here during the weekend. Let's see what we come up with;-)

Matts Torebring says:
It is possible to work very hard for short periods of time. Unfortunately, I have had double working hours for a large part of my life. I had it worst in the 80s and 90s. I could sit behind the computer for hundreds of hours working on municipal tenders. But...!
After 12 hours at the computer, my head was so tired. Then I could take a forklift and move pallets in the warehouse. This was pure relaxation. My left eye was taking a beating after all the concentrated spreadsheet work.
A word of advice: don't give the computer more time, but make it feel good.

Anna says:
Exciting! Looking forward to hearing more about your adventures in and out of work 🙂 .
I myself am at Formex all day and will be packing up the stand after closing tonight. And tomorrow there will be outdoor activities with the children. Hopefully some long-distance skating.

It's nice to have a lot of work, but it can also sometimes be too much of a good thing. I recognise myself.
Hope you get a few hours of rest!

Henny says:
Don't get so stressed out that you hit the wall - that's easy to do if the job is fun. It can be too much anyway.
I will be on an SAS plane for eleven hours between Los Angeles and Sweden. Then just over an hour between Arlanda and Luleå, plus an hour by car to Jävre.
But on Sunday I will spend time with the Swedish part of my family. It will be so nice to hug them after three months of holiday. No risk of fatigue syndrome for me.

4000 kilometres, that's right! The blogging can suffer because it is a lot elsewhere, but it is probably the other job that is too much really ...
Across the board, thank you! 🙂
Geddfish, great weather today! I (unfortunately) haven't been outside, but at least I've seen it through the windows... 😉.
Lars Permelin, why don't you vacuum here too...? It would be needed 😉 And it's fun to be able to print photos on real photo paper sometimes! It's been a long time, but we've done it on a few occasions too.
Gun, that sounds wonderful! Unfortunately, I haven't had time to be outdoors, but at least I have seen the beautiful weather through the windows 😉.
Inga, interesting report! What else is happening at the Tet other than everything closing? How long will you be there?
Ditte, we submit the report to the Public Health Agency of Sweden on Monday, but then they will continue to work on other aspects of the assignment and the whole thing will (if I remember correctly) be submitted to the government at the end of April. You will probably only be able to read the reports then.
Znogge, a book circle sounds nice! I haven't had time to read for a long time, but I'm starting to long for it ...
Emma, I don't really like bringing my work home with me at the weekend, but at the same time I want to leave a report that I can stand behind, so ... well, that's how it goes 😉.
Deciree, hope you have a great babysitting weekend! 🙂
Britt-Marie, wow how wonderful it sounds! Wishing a continued nice weekend!
BP, I can admit that I did not work all night but was in with a houseboat neighbour for food and wine ;), but when we then came home at night it was time to write blog posts... And today I have really worked exactly all day... And good pay? Well, at KI it's more about performing and delivering products that you can stand behind, regardless of whether it happens to be in your spare time. If there is room in the work schedule, you can take time off some other day, but the question is whether I have time for that ... 😉 .
Matts, I absolutely agree with you! For short periods you can work really hard and a lot. If it goes on and on, it becomes very heavy ...
Anna, great to hear from you! I understand that you were at Formex! How did it go? Long-distance skating sounds cosy! You just have to keep an eye on the ice, but I'm sure you do!
Lena in Wales, I have worked all day today, but now in the evening we will probably sit down for a while in front of the TV! 🙂
Henny, then we will soon be able to welcome you home to Sweden again! It's been fun to follow your fate and adventures on the other side of the "puddle" 🙂.

Sounds intense but also fun.
I remember how much I worked while living in Sweden. In addition to a full-time job during the day, my father and I worked pretty much every spare moment in our spare time with our publishing house and other organisations we had.
I hope you have time to do everything before the end of your job.

As for new cruise ships that are underway, we will probably have to be satisfied with the fact that there will be a lot of new things in the future, the advantage of a "Non-disclosure agreement" is that you can find out a lot, the disadvantage is that you are not allowed to say anything! 🙂
Not only is the industry doing well in Europe and the United States, the Chinese also want more boats for cruising in Asia. The latest one that actually sails now is called Genting Dream, it starts from Hong Kong and I got the chance to visit it during construction at the shipyard in Papenburg.

Days by Johanna, yes developments in the world are interesting, but also worrying ...
Rolle o Carina, wish you a continued nice working weekend then! 🙂
Liniztravel, yes we got the email! (Have just been busy and have not had time to answer any emails). What fun that you come to the fair!!! We fix tickets, and yes we see you this week 🙂
Anne-Marie, it definitely sounds like you know what it means to juggle a lot!!! Book publishing sounds exciting!?
Peter, interesting that the Chinese are also investing in cruise ships, but maybe not so strange when you think about it! We will simply have to wait for other news until it comes 😉

Hi Helena, we are still in Vietnam until the 7th of February. Tet has been celebrated all January already, there are decorated streets and street parties with karaoke from one in the day and all night long, every day of the week. Then they burn gold paper in the streets. But the real weekend starts on 26 January. The Vietnamese seem to take Têt seriously haha I'll probably write something about it.

Good luck with all your projects (and remember to take some time off in between) 😀!
