We celebrated New Year's Eve at Wallmans in Stockholm with our friends Lennart and Beata. Here you are served a 6-course dinner in the lounge while the musical artists both show and serve. So, how was the food, show and party? Here is our review!
A really good show
The artists at Wallmans are actually really, really good! Maybe it's not so strange either. There are many young promising musical theatre artists and the competition is tough. Working at Wallmans is, from what I understand, the second best thing after working on the real musical theatre stages.
Three girls and three boys danced and sang and a fourth girl performed all sorts of circus tricks. The music was everything from pop to rock and tributes to all the great music stars who have passed away during the year. Great variety and good stage performances!
Good 6-course menu
You don't really choose Wallmans for the food, and we didn't have high expectations. But we must say that we were pleasantly surprised! The three starters (lobster soup, soy-marinated salmon and raw beef) were really good. The main courses (sole and beef fillet) were perhaps not quite at the same level, but were still clearly approved. The dessert (a plate with several different small desserts) was not wrong either. An unexpectedly good dining experience then!
New Year's Eve at Wallmans - what about the party?
A large counting machine counted down to the stroke of 12 and everyone toasted happily and wished each other a Happy New Year. Then the party broke loose. Or rather, since board the party would have broken out. We must say that the DJ played rather boring songs and the dance floor was not as crowded as it could have been. But at least we had a super nice evening! Have you ever been to Wallmans? What did you think?
Lennart says:
Wallmans is a nice place that we used to visit a lot before the motorhome life!

No, I've actually never been to Wallmans. I've wanted to for a long time, but it just hasn't happened. You seem to have had a good time.

Have never been to Wallmans. Is so rarely in Stockholm may be a reason.

Ditte says:
How nice! And I'm glad it's still going strong. The place has been around for a long time.
We have visited Wallmans a few times, but not at New Year and it's been a while.
It has always been nice and with food that was good considering that it is served between the performances and has to be transported from the kitchen to the tables. But the dance floor wasn't that busy then either.
As for the artists, many of the musical artists on the country's stages began their careers at Wallmans.
We took a trip to Copenhagen a few years ago and took the opportunity to visit Wallmans and it was also nice and full speed on the dance floor with good music.

Lennart, glad you were there too!
Lena, it was nice! Definitely worth visiting on occasion!
Nils-Åke, do not know if there are similar concepts in other cities, such as Gothenburg or Malmö? Wallmans is at least in Oslo and Copenhagen as well 😉.
Ditte, yes I suspect that Wallmans has been around for a while! And yes, I think it still holds!!!! 🙂 We got "live greetings" on the canvas from Copenhagen and Oslo during the evening 😉.
Christian, glad you also had a good experience! Will check out your link!

Husis blog says:
The owners were together at Wallmans in Malmö at the turn of the millennium and what the male owner remembers was good. Lately, the more musical female owner has been to Wallmans with her friends as she appreciates it more than the man... 🙂 .
But the owners are going to Stockholm in March, so maybe there will be a visit to Wallmans then....

Sounded super nice with Wallmans on New Year! I have only been to Wallmans in Malmö and it is quite a few years ago now. Just as you write, you do not choose Wallmans for the food, but definitely a great overall experience!

Husisblog, I was just wondering if Wallmans was in Malmö too! If it is still there?
Znogge, it was nice! Thank you very much!
Imelda, yes it will be an overall experience! 🙂
Eva, the dishes were fortunately small, so it was quite a lot of food actually. Wishing you a really nice 2017!
Geddfish, thank you very much!
Comsi Comsa, thank you very much!
Days by Johanna, yes it was a bit of a shame actually. You need good music to want to dance 😉 But it was nice anyway. Good continuation!
Steve, you too!

Fantastic pictures of the show! Great to hear that you were satisfied with the "whole package".
Have never been there, as shows and/or dancing is not really our thing, but as I said fun to check your great pictures:-)
PS. See that you are tinkering with the header. Good that you removed the black "death leaf". Personally, I think the "stripes" are too long. The centre image - is it camels and desert sand? The image disappears. The wing of the aeroplane is a bit bland and poor Freedom in the last picture gets lost in the "landscape". Maybe you should choose a layout that looks like your collage of food and drink that you posted yesterday. Sorry that I can't help but "interfere". I am professionally injured as you know. DS.

I love the concept of the dinner show.
Have only been to Wallmans once. Just as you wrote, it dies out a bit after the show. Probably because it's not a nightclub with late entry. Golden hits on the other hand is a completely different thing. Just as good a show and dancing until 3... 🙂.

Wish you a really good continuation of the new year! ☺ I myself have never been to Wallmans but have heard that the artists are good. Good that you had a fun evening anyway!

BP. yes we have been working on the header and changed about a thousand times, haha. Not easy! Now we have replaced the "flap" again ... don't know if you think it makes any difference? We do not want such a high header as the top images in the posts, but narrower. And then I want three images that in a simple way symbolise travel, adventure and camping ...
Kolonilotta, yes Golden Hits is probably better when it comes to the party afterwards! It's been a long time since I was there, but I imagine it was more of a drag... 😉.
Kattis, you too!

Was at Wallmans about 20 years ago?... may have to make a return visit! Glad that the show and food were good. Too bad there was no "drag" at the afterparty...?

I have never visited Wallmans. However, I remember visiting Berns a few times and watching shows. You are "out in the swing" sometimes. 🙂
Sweden still has a thriving music 'industry'.

Anne-Marie, we are not "out" so often anymore, but it happens once in a while 😉 .

Susjos says:
Well, I've visited Wallmans a few times, usually a good show, but the last time we were there with friends we got so little food that we had to stop on the way home and buy a flatbread roll!!!!

admin says:
Susjos, but oh, too little food was not good!!! We were easily satisfied with our six dishes, but at 02:30 I was still hungry again haha 😉.
