Good to have different tips when travelling. The Forex holiday index gives an average across the country and is completely wrong depending on which part of a country you intend to holiday in. You are simply generalising.....
Also, it feels a bit speculative at times....

When it comes to cards and card payments, it is very important to check the card you have. Many card issuers charge both a withdrawal fee AND a currency surcharge. Even within the EU, so be careful. In some cases, it can be expensive and up to 15-16% in interest.

Forex index is not good we think. Beats so uneven in the countries.
Withdrew 400 € in ATM became over 4200 SEK. Really felt cheated, no sv fees and low currency surcharge is the bank's advertisement.

Always good with tips 🙂
One disadvantage of living in a relatively cheap country is that it usually gets more expensive when you go away 😉.

If I'm not travelling, I'll have to save for something else and in another way. You often feel extra satisfied when you have saved for something you want to have/do.

Veiken, yes, I can understand that it can go wrong in some places. In some countries, prices are very different. In the Philippines, for example, Boracay is much more expensive than other places. But I still think that the Forex holiday index can give some indication.
Criss-cross, good to think about, can make a big difference!!!
Motorhome Helge, do you mean forex currency converter, or?
Ama de casa, yes it will of course be a disadvantage! But weekdays will be cheaper instead 😉
Steve, there is always something to save for 😉.
Geddfish, isn't it sad to come back from a trip and have a debt! Now, of course, I have to look in on you and see where you are going! 🙂
Jeanette, different countries are really differently expensive to travel in. I like to travel in slightly cheaper countries, then you can afford more 🙂.

Tips are always good to get but you also have to be careful because sometimes what seems cheap can be quite expensive and you usually get what you pay for. As for Forex, I am always doubtful because I have many times experienced that it is not at all true. And withdrawing money there/exchanging is usually much more expensive than doing it at an ATM on site. Of course, you have to check your card but I have for several years both in Europe and Asia (despite exchange fees) received significantly better rates on site.
We usually travel with so-called Plus services if we have to bring luggage and then there are no supplements either for it, lounges, food or drinks on board. But usually only hand luggage is included for shorter trips.

We have experienced not even buying an evening newspaper, because we have to save. How awful, today we don't save at all. We go with the best motorhome, on the best roads and pay all the fees that come with it. When we stop, we usually stay in five-star campsites. Imagine how good we have it!

Good tip, although it's a little difficult to understand how the tip of buying sun cream in Sweden fits on the list of savings tips - it's usually neither very expensive nor difficult to get hold of, in most destinations where it is needed.
Then I can miss one of the absolutely effective ways to save money on the trip, namely to choose a time for the trip when hotel prices are low. If you are tied to a specific holiday month, it can be difficult to choose, but for those who are able to be a little flexible, there is a lot of money to be made, for example by going to southern Europe in June instead of July-August. Another trick to save money in the middle of the high season can be to go against the grain and visit a city when everyone else is on the beach - in some cities with a high proportion of business travellers, prices can drop significantly in the middle of the holiday season.
As for Hotels.com, Disconta has a discount code of 10% this January. These codes tend to recur from time to time, but if you're planning a trip anyway, it can be an easy way to save money on your hotel booking.
