We've spent four days at the Caravan Stockholm fair, and among other things, we took the opportunity to check out all the hot new camping gadgets. Today we present 11 camping gadgets that are new, practical, stylish or just generally interesting. What do you think? Do you have experience with any of these gadgets? Would you like to have any of them? Or were you at the fair and saw another interesting gadget?
Table of contents
1. Collapsible saucepans
These clever pots and pans can be folded so that they hardly take up any space in your cupboards at all. Plus, you don't have to worry about jangling cabinets while driving. The pots are from Holiday Fritid, sold through various retailers and available in 1.5 litre (SEK 268) and 3 litre (SEK 295) sizes.
2. internet antenna
Is the internet reception at your campsite poor? Using an antenna, which you attach to the roof of your campervan, you can get much better reception. You connect the antenna to your 3G/4G router from your operator. You can find the antenna at Nordsat.se.
3. swivelling table
A small and practical table that comes standard with many campers, but can also be purchased separately. The base of the table is attached to a vertical wall and the table can then be rotated to place the table top where you want it at the moment. The table can be ordered from Camperways and costs €1295.
4. Glass in cool design
These stylish glasses, with thin gold stripes, are so new that they haven't had time to be priced yet - but they'll be available soon! The glasses are made of tritan and are thin and comfortable to drink from. Semona also has other great products for motorhome life, such as wine decanters, lidded bowls, colourful egg cups and melamine tableware. Check out the site to find your nearest retailer.
5. NEW Large GPS
Alpine's new, large GPS is customised specifically for the Fiat Ducato and is permanently installed, making it difficult to steal. Another advantage is that it is significantly larger than other GPSs on the market. In other words, it is easier to see the instructions while driving! The GPS is sold through Kama Fritid and costs SEK 15,995.
6. inflatable awning
Want an awning without having to spend a lot of time setting it up? Then a tent that you can inflate can be very useful. The tent can be attached to all motorhomes with an awning, is manufactured by Holiday Fritid and is sold by Campingvaruhuset, among others. The tent is available in different sizes and costs between SEK 10,000 and 18,000.
7th EZA Lithium battery
A lithium battery seems to make life easier if you want to ride often and for a long time. The battery recharges much faster than a regular battery - an hour of driving can be enough to recharge it once it's discharged. The EZA lithium battery is sold through JRL Trading and is available in two price ranges: £28,100 or £36,500.
8. bamboo plates
More and more camping gear is being made from eco-friendly natural materials. These plates, for example, are made from bamboo. I found them at the Kama Fritids stand, but I didn't get a price quote and can't find them on the website.
9. Massage parlour
Me and Malin Skinnar, from Malin Storyteller, would only try the massage pads at Trend Rehab for a little while - but help how comfortable they were! One of these is on my wish list now! The small massage cushion (to the right in the picture) costs 1295 SEK and the large massage cushion (which also massages shoulders and neck) costs 3790 SEK. Both can be connected to 12 volts, and require 48 watts.
10. Water purifier
Do you want to be able to drink the water from the tap in your motorhome and be absolutely sure that it is free of bacteria? Led UV light kills 99.9 % of all bacteria in the water, whether the water has been sitting for a day or a month. The product has taken a long time to develop and costs SEK 14,125, but on the other hand it lasts for about 20 years and can be moved from one motorhome to another. More information is available from Swedish GTC.
11. The book "Europe's beautiful roads"
This book is not entirely new, but I like the idea of highlighting beautiful roads in Europe. Driving on roads with fantastic views - that's one of the best things about motorhomes! You can find the book at Kartbutiken (note that the price in the picture is fair price), which also has many other interesting books such as Bordatlas, road atlases and Motormännens informative book "Discover Europe by car 2016-2017".
Cattis says:
Many interesting things that would also work outside of camping! I mean the massage cushion seems wonderful!?

Kattis, the massage pad was awesome! And it's definitely not just for camping ... 😉 ...

Accessories at trade fairs are not usually so extensive and at many fairs people have left disappointed with the lack of choice. It looks as if it has become bitter and that's a good thing. There is always something you want to renew, change or supplement.
For me, however, a water purifier is completely unnecessary. We clean our tanks a few times a season when we pour bottled lemon* into the water tank, swish it around, rinse it and pour in fresh clean water. Between our trips, we release the water that may be left in the tank and before the next weekend trip we fill up with new fresh water. We have been doing this for 16 years and always drinking water directly from our tap. IF we are not in the south and fill in water that does not taste good (chlorinated etc.) Then it is water for making coffee, brushing teeth etc. and drinking water is bought in bottles. It is also good to remember that you have your own "fresh" water hose to fill water with and that you let all the water run out of the hose before putting it aside - otherwise deposits can form inside the hose, which are not fun to get into the water tank.
* lemon is antiseptic

Anna says:
"chlorinated" water? All water is chlorinated, even Swedish water. People are not careful about what they put in their bodies. I find it hard to understand why people don't prioritise their health a little. What are all these gadgets worth when you feel bad?

Forb..... automatic-correction spelling.
Of course, the supply has not resented but improved 🙂 .

Ditte says:
A lot of fun useful gadgets that are also suitable for boating and even otherwise. The swivel table (like this) we had in the wooden sailboat and it was practical and of course it is also in a motorhome/caravan.
We carry a box that amplifies internet signals with us when travelling and if there are several of us sharing the internet, also handy. But we put ours indoors.
It's nice that bamboo plates have arrived here because we bought a set in China several years ago that have been in the boat and they are nice and quiet to eat on instead of the melamine ones.
Thanks for watching!

Ama de casa says:
Many clever things! Probably like the inflatable tent best - finally something that makes it easier for us tenters too 😉.
But man, everything is so expensive...

åsa in åsele says:
Fun news that also fits in a caravan 🙂
The glasses, plates and pots felt very contemporary,
Bamboo seems to come more and more and whether it is good for nature, bamboo bears and the climate I don't know?
Must google).

Anette says:
I realise it's been a while since we went camping, we did it a lot when the kids were young. Technology has progressed by leaps and bounds.
I have bamboo bowls and trays in my kitchen here in Bangkok, both stylish and practical.

Lennart says:
We've looked at inflatable awnings but haven't got round to it!

Deciree says:
You take really nice pictures 🙂 Now I wonder who is hungry for a new camera ... which of you 2 took these with which camera:)). I saw both of you when we met. There was still a little more camping accessories, it feels like this year. It was really fun:) Hugs

Goatfish says:
Oh, how wonderful to read about camping gear! It's been 5 years since we had the caravan, but it was so much fun with flexible solutions. We were early with an inverter, among other things. And had real glass and porcelain, with homemade decor, so that it would not shake.
The pots and pans, the internet antenna, the tent, the bamboo plates and the book on the most beautiful roads, all came to mind.
We enjoyed travelling on 'Marguerite roads' in Denmark.
Stuff?

Husis blog says:
Stuck with the pots and pans. But with me it is good load weight and also good space to store things, but on the other hand my owners are alone when it drives around so the owners probably do not need this purchase at the moment. The male owner often goes around among other motorhome owners and chats with those who want to chat and then you often get good tips on all kinds of things, everything does not have to be expensive but sometimes there are good "home solutions".

Matts Torebring says:
Excuse me! This time I didn't catch anything in the presentation. We are self-sufficient in most things, with over 17,000 products in our warehouse. We drink "Moomin coffee" and drinks in real wine glasses. This is after we got tired of scratchy plastic glasses.
But! Now we can't drive around anymore, with our "blue" chairs with a five-year warranty. We bought these for one of our first "German" motorhomes in 2003. We didn't like the cars at all, but the chairs are impossible to wear out. Now we need to invest in some chairs to match our nice new car.
I have a shaver and a kettle (Kabe) painted. We may have to switch to pots in the same style too? But will I be able to find chairs that fit? It will be exciting to look for. Ps. Now someone probably got sad at me again!

Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
I am not so easily influenced by advertising. Buy what we need regardless of lots of advertising. We have had our chairs since 2001 cost 1200 SEK each then but now we are talking about buying new ones. There are still spare parts for the ones we bought in 2001

BP says:
Yep, we've been to the same fair;-) Oh these collapsible saucepans I could definitely imagine for a regular household too - well, provided they come in orange, lime green or purple that is.
Then I also jumped when I saw the pile of all the map books. "Long live paper" so to speak. Oh, the number of books was actually bigger than I thought.
PS. You missed the "kidney heater" for winter campers without heating in the house picture;-) DS.

Holy cow, there are always too few accessories at the fairs, but this year I actually thought it was a little better! I'm glad you made it with your water! And yes, that "correct" spelling is a scourge ... 😉 .
Ditte, yes absolutely, many smart gadgets in motorhomes/caravans are also suitable for boating!
Ama de casa, as soon as something is made for a boat or motorhome ... it seems to get really expensive on the fly .... 😉
Åsa in Åsele, yes of course the gadgets fit just as well in the caravan as in a motorhome! (Except maybe the GPS then ...;)) You may return if you google that with bamboo! 🙂
Anette, both technology and design have advanced a lot! And interesting that the camping world also draws inspiration from Asia! 😉
Lennart, that seems pretty easy! We don't normally use tents, but when we travelled around Europe we got one to train in!
Deciree, there were a few more accessories this year? I (Helena) took these pictures of the accessories with my camera, the Nikon D5200.
Geddfish, we hear some people from time to time who absolutely want real glass in their motorhome/caravan, and that's fine if you pack them properly! 😉
Husisblog, nice to have plenty of space! What appealed to me about the pots and pans was actually that they don't seem to rattle. We always have to wrap our saucepans in towels ... 😉.
Matts, it's great that you have good stuff! No, since I don't sell any of this, but just thought it was fun to look for interesting stuff for a report, I have no problem with you being happy with your stuff...! 😉
Nils-Åke, now I don't know which advert you are thinking of, but maybe you mean that they showed things at the fair? I do not know if I am excessively impressionable, but sometimes you see things you get hungry for 😉.
BP, when I'm in the driver's seat, I think it's nice to have "real" books, and not have to depend on the internet working 😉 And yes, there was a shortage. The popular site book "Bordatlas" was out of stock when we were there ... The kidney warmer????
20 February 2017 - 23:07
BP says:
Okay, I'll post the kidney warmer on the blog tomorrow - if it fits the "Equality" theme, just so you believe me,
By the way - excellent and very diplomatic comment to Matts.. again;-)

We already have super nice dining chairs from Brunner (yes, very expensive), but I've still found the nice folding chairs from Kama (Urban something). They are on the want list. ??
21 February 2017 - 13:21
Deciree says:
Thank you for the answer Helena 🙂 I forgot what you said what it was for a model...but now I know I will google about it now...hugs 🙂
21 February 2017 - 14:39
admin says:
BP, I definitely have to check it out on your blog!!!
Anki, after I tried it, it ended up on my wish list too! 🙂
Eva, aren't they nice? Yes, they were called something special ... can't remember now ...
Deciree 🙂 .
