Yesterday I visited the "We Have a Dream" exhibition at the Fotografiska Museum in Stockholm with my new colleagues. The exhibition opened in December and is on display until 19 February. If you haven't already seen it, take the opportunity to do so while it's still there!
We Have a Dream
The message of the exhibition is that nothing is impossible for those who dare to dream and want to act. 114 portraits show people fighting for a better world - for peace, for equality or to fight violence, poverty, oppression or bullying. They are people of different ages, from different parts of the world and with different circumstances.
They are politicians, business leaders, writers, artists or ordinary people who have fled violence and oppression - or simply feel in their hearts that they want to help make the world a better place.
They are people who choose to help others over their own prosperity, and they are people who risk their lives to get their message across in blogs or through pictures. These are people who truly inspire! Albert Wiking's portrait photos are also very powerful.
Exhibitions at the Museum of Photography
"We Have a Dream" is on display at Fotografiska museet until 19 February. Right now, and until 5 March, you can also see Charlotte Gyllenhammar's exhibition "Night". I have to admit that I found it quite difficult to understand what she wanted to say with that exhibition, but of course, how one perceives art is different ...
Until 2 April, you can also see "In memory of Lennart Nilsson". Parts of the famous exhibition "A Child is Born" are on display again, as a tribute to the photographer who passed away this year at the age of 94.
Have you ever been to the Museum of Photography? Have you seen the "We Have a Dream" exhibition and what did you think?
Lena - good for the soul says:
Yep, been there once. Would love to go there again. It is always in my mind as a possible destination.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
What a great exhibition! We spent a morning at it in December and it was truly incredible. Very strong and beautiful portraits; while at the same time there was an interesting mix of people.
Fotografiska is often visited by us when we come to Stockholm, and Lennart Nilsson's pictures sounded interesting, as we are going up in a couple of weeks.
Not everything is beautiful and we didn't understand the greatness of Charlotte Gyllenhammar's art and photography. Britt-Marie Lundgren

Unfortunately not, but I'm going up to the capital on the 18th so maybe I'll get there on Sunday. A visit was planned last time but I didn't have time...

Jenn - forever abroad says:
I LOVED this exhibition - impossible not to be moved by it. Also mentioned it in a tip in January ( http://jennifersandstrom.se/2017/01/18/bra-saker-jag-last-lyssnat-och-sett-pa-nyligen/ ) In fact, I would like to order the book with all the pictures and stories... 🙂 ðŸ™'
In addition, I liked Diesel's advertising story that they also showed then. But didn't have enough time to check it out thoroughly because a ferry to Finland was waiting for us a few hundred metres away (really easy to take Fotografiska on the way to the ferry!).

Ama de casa says:
No, I have not visited that museum. However, last autumn we visited the museum at the place where the actual speaker - Martin Luther King - was assassinated. A very well organised museum that depicted the struggle of black people from slavery to the Obama days. Scary... Especially that it is still as it is.

Goatfish says:
The closest I have come is that I just bought the book by Martin Luther King. A long time ago.
Would have been interesting to see Fotografiska. And a dream is nice to have. Maybe sometime?

I've been to Fotografiska several times and think it's a wonderful place. However, I have not seen this particular exhibition.

Biggeros says:
Unfortunately, I have not been to that museum. As someone who is interested in everything related to culture and art, I would have been there now and seen the exhibition. I can imagine that you don't leave without a tear in your eye and not least touched.
All credit to Lennart Nilsson who has taken us through the course of the pregnancy with the help of beautiful pictures.

I have been to Fotografiska a couple of times, but not to see this exhibition. There is also a nice restaurant with a great view of the water and Gamla Stan.

I think your new job is off to a good start! Glad you liked the exhibition. I myself have set my sights on Lennart Nilsson, who I actually met irl. A fantastic person and photographer.
Have been to Fotografiska twice and just love the place. Not only the exhibition space itself but the amazing view as well. Not to mention the good sandwiches served in the restaurant;-)

Fotografiska is liked, not so often now when my sister moves "home" to Skåne. Will keep an eye out for Lennart Nilsson's that probably comes a little closer to us!

Husis blog says:
When I visited Stockholm a few years ago, the owners cycled around for a day and visited various museums, but I didn't hear that they were at the Museum of Photography. They talked a lot about the police museum but will give them tips on the photography museum as well.

How nice that you were at Fotografiska. Unfortunately I missed this exhibition, would have liked to see it. but much else I have seen there, Fotografiska is clearly a museum I like to return to quite often and usually look at one or two exhibitions at a time because it is easy to happen that it otherwise becomes too much to take in. And their restaurant is so good I think.
At least I have time to see Charlotte Gyllenhammar and Lennart Nilsson.

Steve, with all the negative news about "bad" and crazy people, it's liberating and nice to hear stories about people doing great things.
Britt-Marie, great that you also liked the exhibition! And it's interesting that you didn't understand Gyllenhammar's art either... But that's how it is with art, not everything suits everyone.
Znogge, it's easy to get busy ...
Jenn, agree that it is impossible not to be touched by it!!!! Smart to take Fotografiska on the way to the ferry 😉.
Ama de casa, that sounds interesting! Heavy topic indeed, but important, and in a way it feels very relevant again ...
Geddfish, Fotografiska has a lot of interesting exhibitions, although of course it can vary from exhibition to exhibition.
Biggeros, yes it was an exhibition that really moved me! The strong photos together with the texts ... impossible not to be touched!
JoY, yes, there are different exhibitions all the time. I haven't been to the restaurant ...
BP, yes but or how? I also think it was a good start 😉 The restaurant at Fotografiska I have missed unfortunately, so it will be next time!
Lena & Jan, I understand that you don't come here as often. Convenient if the exhibition comes closer!
Husisblog, I missed the police museum instead ... there are a lot of museums!
Gun, Fotografiska is a fine museum, although of course you may have different opinions about different exhibitions!
Ditte, it's hard to keep up with everything! I have missed the restaurant, but I have understood from the comments here that it is good.

The Fotografiska Museum is a favourite that I like to return to. Too bad I'm missing this exhibition. I'm going to Stockholm tomorrow, but it will be a packed schedule in Solna with work this time. Will plan a weekend in Stockholm here in the future 🙂.
Have a nice evening!
