Many dream journeys can be difficult to realise, but there can still be a chance, especially if you work hard at it. We have managed to realise a dream trip on the Trans-Siberian Railway and another to New Zealand.
Other dream destinations we still hope to realise at some point in the future, such as Japan, Northern Canada and Central Asia. Then there are trips that we know for sure we will never do, even though we would love to... Would you like to visit any of these places?
Table of contents
1. Narnia
In the land of Narnia, as told by C S Lewis, you can meet just about anything. After a while, you won't even be surprised when dragons, ice queens or talking lions show up. Wow, what I would blog and photograph if I could go there! The problem is how how to get there. As I understand it, you should be able to make the journey by fall into a blackboard ...
2. Pandora
Pandora is a planet filled with an intense green jungle, trees with magical powers, flying dragons and a human-like life form that lives in harmony with nature. Wouldn't it be cool to try flying a kite among soaring mountains? However, getting here involves two major challenges. Firstly, it requires a long space journey and secondly, the planet only exists in the film Avatar ...
3. Iceland in the Viking Age
Wouldn't it be interesting to hear the controversies in Parliament, board a newly built Viking ship or party with mead and song in 11th century Iceland? Unfortunately, no one has built time machines yet. You'll probably have to make do with films like "Vikings" or visit the Iceland of today!
4. county
Fylke is the homeland of the Hobs and is located in the north-west of Eriador. I would love to go here to see the charming houses with round windows and because the atmosphere at the parties seems to be great. In fact, you can see the houses in New Zealand, but unfortunately you won't be welcomed in by some cosy mob with big furry feet, as they only exist in 'Lord of the Rings'...
5. Paris in the 18th century
Imagine being in a ballroom with men in long floral brocade coats and women with huge skirts and high hairstyles. If you want to get around the city, you might have to stop a taxi. Oh how many photos we would take! Preferably some 360 pictures too, right? But that's the thing about the lack of time machines ...
6. Westeros
From the bustling streets of the capital, King's Landing, to the wilds of nature, Westeros is a vast continent. While Westeros may appear to be both criminal and dangerous, there are many famous places to see! Besides watching the film Game of Thrones or playing the game of the same name at InstaCasino, you can actually visit some of the filming locations around Europe.
7. Naboo
Naboo is a quiet and peaceful planet made up of pristine forests, towering waterfalls and fairytale towns with glittering domed roofs. The planet is inhabited by the nature and peace-loving Naboo people and their Queen Jamilla. Who wouldn't want to visit such a place? Too bad Naboo is out in space somewhere, and that it only exists in the film Star Wars.
Is there an unattainable destination that you dream of visiting?
Across the board says:
Cherry Valley in Nangiala - we'll get there soon enough....

You can wait a little with that trip, I think, but probably a nice destination in the end! 🙂

Agreed!

Pandora where we live in harmony with nature. Go there with freedomtravel and enjoy the balance of life. A lovely feature.
28 March 2017 - 7:46
Helena says:
Right? A group trip to Pandora would be something! 🙂

Ama de casa says:
We each have an unattainable dream destination. Anders wants to go to the moon. Won't happen. I want to go to Ullared. Won't happen either. Not if I want to go with Anders anyway 🙂 .
28 March 2017 - 9:47
Helena says:
Haha, I wonder what is more unattainable, the Moon or Ullared!? 😉
28 March 2017 - 13:56
Henny says:
What an interesting post. It really sets the imagination in motion. I'm glad you illustrated with pictures of contemporary places that really exist. I want to go to ancient Olympia and the Moorish Alhambra in Spain in its heyday when they invent a time machine. I have seen both in the present. I could certainly dream back there, but imagine being there....
28 March 2017 - 9:54
Helena says:
Glad you like our "modern" places! When travelling to something historical, I usually try to imagine what it was like back then... but imagine experiencing it for real!
28 March 2017 - 13:58
Marina says:
Since there are no limits to our imagination, maybe we can take a trip to some of these countries anyway because it would be exciting!

Emma, sun like sun? says:
I would love to go to Narnia, The Shire, Naboo and Pandora. Maybe you in turn would like to go to Atlantis? Or Fantasia? Or a trip on the Hogworth Express?
28 March 2017 - 10:17
Helena says:
Atlantis sounds exciting! The Hogworth Express would also be a cool trip!!! The imagination...?

Emma, sun like sun? says:
Michael Ende "The Neverending Story". Have read it several times, most recently reading it aloud to my son a year or so ago. It was also made into a film (terrible) and Limahl sang the title music (good).
"Turn around, look at what you see-eee-eeee-eeee-eee..."

Anette Åhnbrink says:
What a fun and great post! I remember my youngest son's comment when, after standing in a queue for at least an hour to get into the Colosseum in Rome: but where are the gladiators? And then it would have been good with a time machine? I myself think Paris, or Vienna in the 18th century would have been fun!
28 March 2017 - 10:21
Helena says:
Oh no... what a disappointment for him...! I remember when we were watching Gladiator (or some similar film) and my youngest son asked "How did they film in those days?" 😉
28 March 2017 - 15:55
Ann-Louise says:
I've said many times that I'd like to go to Naboo, so it will simply be my impossible dream destination.
28 March 2017 - 10:29
Helena says:
It seems to be a very cool place! 🙂

Eva - People in the Street says:
Wonderful travel destinations! Haha, they will probably all end up on my bucket list. But that's how it is with bucket lists, you may not have time for everyone ... 😉.
28 March 2017 - 11:05
Helena says:
Haha, no, you might not have time for these... 😉 .

åsa in åsele says:
🙂 Such a fun post, and yes, I could imagine both... America with cowboys and Indians and those coal-fuelled locomotives I wouldn't say no to 🙂 ...
But I have an idea, to somehow meet the spring in Ystad and then walk Sweden northwards in step with the arrival of spring, finishing at Riksgränsen. Distance between Ystad and Riksgränsen: 2028 km.
28 March 2017 - 12:12
Helena says:
Cowboys and Indians seem cool (if you don't get shot at ;)). And oh what a hike ...! Cool idea! For me, it would probably be unattainable ... 😉 .

Ditte says:
Exciting destinations all round. I could imagine several of them; Pandora I have touched on when we were in Southern China and "boated around" among their Sugarloaf Mountain. Noboo is also tempting and so is Narnia. As for the Shire, I'll have to settle for the fact that I've been to the area in New Zealand but the hobbits were relocated.
"Shangrila" in southern China was my wish and I got there. Yes, there is a place called that, but otherwise it is a state you are in. But I'm not there yet. Maybe I'll get there before Nangiala calls.
28 March 2017 - 13:10
Helena says:
Shangrila sounds like a place in the imagination! 🙂 South China I have also "boated around", but the photos from there are in albums, so it had to be a photo from Vietnam instead ... 😉 😉
28 March 2017 - 21:55
Ruth in Virginia says:
Shangri-La for me.
'Shangri-La', a book written by James Hilton around 1933;
the film based on the book, "Lost Horizons", I still remember. Would love to visit.
To me it sounds like today's Buhtan, where there is something...
called "gross national happiness" (check Wikipedia).

I didn't think so. Yes, that there are limits even to your travelling.
28 March 2017 - 14:38

Haha, believe it or not, even we have some limits 😉.

wonderful post!!! and I actually had to laugh a little at the comment about Ullared!!!
28 March 2017 - 14:51
Helena says:
Haha, me too. I know that Ama dreams of Ullared, I have also started to get a little curious. Maybe you should see that place at least once 😉.

I could imagine travelling in time, but at the moment the conditions don't seem to exist. A trip in the footsteps of Harry Potter would probably be appreciated by many younger people.

Yes, it would be a fun world to move around in! Take that train, for example... 🙂 ...

BP says:
What a mix of destinations - fiction and irl - well not really, but still;-) I've never heard of the fiction destinations...
So, no I will probably stay at home or visit the destinations that your pictures show;-)
28 March 2017 - 20:37
Helena says:
From this I guess you don't read/watch fiction or fantasy. I know that some people do not like it at all. I myself can think it's nice to dream away to a completely different world sometimes 🙂.

The Great Wall of China and Australia...Scotland...are on the must-do list. ✈️
17th century Paris I'm sure I've been to ? Love the feeling of being at home in the stairwell of the Louvre ? Preferably wearing a dress with a wide hemline... ?

Lovely feeling to have been in 18th century Paris, I like that! 🙂
