The Allt för sjön boat show is still going on, and now it has been joined by the Vildmarksmässan 2017. Peter was there to check it out yesterday and today we are going there again ... with a lot of interesting plans on the agenda. Don't miss following our blog these days!
Wilderness and outdoor activities
Fellow blogger BP, who also visited and blogged about the fair on his blog Art or weird, thinks the fair should be renamed Friluftsmässan. I'm not sure about the distinction between wilderness life and outdoor life, but I can agree that there is a lot of focus on outdoor life and adventure. At the fair you'll find everything from freeze-dried food for hiking to canoes, rafting and venison sausages.
Bloggers and blog readers at the fair
One fun thing about fairs is meeting bloggers and blog readers! Peter was lucky enough to meet Kenneth, who sometimes comments and whom we also met at Caravan Stockholm. However, we unfortunately missed BP (above) and Lena from Good for the soul. Next time, guys, let's not miss each other!
What else? Well, Peter met a real wilderness blogger who was even there with a stand. Can you guess who? If not, you'll find out tomorrow!
What happens next?
I can tell you that my husband has packed everything from swimwear to trainers for tomorrow. I don't know exactly what he'll be doing, but I know there's everything from scuba diving and paddleboarding to a climbing wall and cycling at the fair... Don't miss tomorrow's post!
Lena - good for the soul says:
Yes, it's a real shame we didn't manage to get together! But there are more trains.
Oh yes, I know exactly who was in that lovely stand with cones in the tree. I had the honour of listening to her lecture on prejudices about hiking. She makes such an important contribution!
Hug Lena

Helena says:
Yes, there are more trains! And today I will also find my way to the stand with the cows in the tree 🙂 .

Kate says:
Could it be the Angelica of the Hiking blog standing there...?! Could definitely have imagined a visit to that fair as well... But there is not enough time for everything... I can probably imagine that Friluftsmässan is better suited...!!!! Have the best, hugs Kate

Helena says:
Who's who, so maybe it could be? 😉 Having time for everything you want is usually hopeless ... but we continue to report from the fair! 🙂

Matts Torebring says:
The most important thing for body and soul is to be out in nature and live outdoors. Not many of us practise wilderness life. By wilderness life I mean hiking in pristine national parks, sleeping in tents and living off what nature has to offer.
11 March 2017 - 7:59
Helena says:
If I understand you correctly, wilderness life is a bit "wilder" than outdoor life? Maybe that's how it is ...?
11 March 2017 - 8:11
Kenneth Risberg says:
Hey, hey, hey, hey,
Thank you for a nice conversation Peter.
I know what you are doing today so I wish you good luck and look forward to some great pictures tomorrow.
I also think that outdoor life would be better suited. I also read that interest in outdoor activities has increased, I can only agree.
11 March 2017 - 8:39
Helena says:
Maybe you know more than me Kenneth, haha. It will be interesting in any case! It's also interesting that you read that interest in outdoor life has increased. I have not read it, but on the other hand, I notice that there are very many blogs that are about outdoor life!

Kenneth Risberg says:
DI had a report in yesterday's newspaper in connection with the opening of the Vildmarksmässan.
A great deal of interest was shown a few weekends ago in Örebro when Hemfjärden Day was celebrated, a sunny Sunday when a few thousand Örebro residents took to the lovely ice to skate, kick or just walk, old and young alike. A so-called "spontaneous arena" for outdoor activities in winter.
One of the activities I have practised both at home and abroad, I think Peter will like it very much.
11 March 2017 - 15:05
Helena says:
That sounds nice! I wonder what kind of activity you are thinking of ....? In any case, I can tell you that Peter tried an activity at the fair today that he thought was really fun! Will tell you about it on the blog tomorrow morning!

Marina says:
I must admit that I also find it a bit difficult to draw the line between wilderness life and outdoor life. can't you live outdoors in the wilderness? and in that case it becomes wilderness life, right? And what exactly is wilderness? What about "outdoor life"?
11 March 2017 - 9:12
Helena says:
Well, in English you talk about "outdoor", right? Let's see if I get wiser during the fair today 😉.
11 March 2017 - 11:42
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
There must be a lot of nice things to look at here. Outdoor life is so exciting.
11 March 2017 - 10:30
Helena says:
It's a fun theme for a trade fair. Let's see what we find!
11 March 2017 - 11:43
Ditte says:
Exciting to see what happens today at the fair. I read that there was also a diving fair going on in Stockholm, but maybe not in connection with the annual wilderness fair. The boundary between wilderness life and outdoor life is probably not at all clear, but for me outdoor life is being out in the open and it can be quite organised. When I think of wilderness life, it is more free from comfort and more about living in and with nature and not just travelling and staying in it.
Wishing you a pleasant day at the fair.
11 March 2017 - 11:26
Helena says:
It becomes quite clear when you describe it that way! That wilderness life is always free and wild in nature, while outdoor life can also be more organised and comfortable.

åsa in åsele says:
Wilderness for many in my half of Sweden is probably more focused on hunting, fishing, forest and mountains. Many who have dogs and drive dog sleds.
As I understand it, some "Sörlanders" think that hot tubs, barbecue huts and saunas are wilderness 😉.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with at the fair.
11 March 2017 - 11:35
Helena says:
It can certainly be the case that you have a slightly different picture in different parts of the country! I will see what we can find interesting at the fair! 🙂

åsa in åsele says:
If you have the time and inclination, check out this blog.

Here it is about northern wilderness / outdoor life 🙂 a friend of mine who runs the blog and who really lives by and with nature.
11 March 2017 - 11:52
Helena says:
Cool! Yes, that's really wilderness life! We are at the fair, but we are in the queue to try shooting at the Hunters' Association, so I had time to look around! 😉
11 March 2017 - 12:08
BP says:
Hahaha! So I laugh well here as you understand. Tried as best I could to take pictures of things that I thought you would not focus on. See, how wrong I was. Jycken is with me as well as the salami. Hahaha!
The only blog I saw was the hiking blog.
Now it will be fun to see if Peter has splashed in the "pond". There were no activities when we were there. The climbing wall was very popular with the children yesterday. Yes, there was an adult man with a tie and suit hanging there too. He had - just like Peter - a childlike mind. Great!
Many thanks for the link:-)
11 March 2017 - 18:23
Helena says:
Now it was probably you who blogged first, so maybe we should have chosen pictures after that ... but it seemed that Peter got stuck on exactly the same things as you! 😉 Well, tomorrow you'll see what Peter came up with...! 😉 Now that I've been to the fair, I can say that it was much smaller than last year. It seems that many of the gadgets (outdoor clothes and tents and stuff) have moved into the boat show's hall with gadgets ... I can also agree that there was a lot of food and sweets. But regardless, I must say that we had a lot of fun with all the activities we tried! 🙂

BP says:
Checked Åsas link with what I would call wilderness life. The girl takes fantastic pictures, but being a guide to shoot grouse - no thanks! Then I rather stick to the "well-known grouse "Famous Grouse" which is my husband's favourite whiskey.
Interesting that you agree with me to some extent about the fair. Both the Boat Fair and the Wildlife Fair were very poor. Perhaps the fairs should be held every other year instead of every year. It is not exactly cheap to exhibit at Stockholmsmässan. It's nice to read that more people are making a distinction between wilderness, outdoor and outdoor life. Outdoor life is probably best, as it fits well with "Outdoor Show".
It will be fun to read tomorrow what Peter has come up with today.
Oh hey - my "today's" about the Boat Show is definitely not duplicated. And you probably won't agree with me either. But it's so much fun that you see things with different eyes, which may be because you have a serious blog, while I have a nonsense blog, so ....
PS. Peter and I seem to have the same "taste", but I certainly didn't mean to "compete" with you. I hope you know that. DS.
11 March 2017 - 23:19
Helena says:
Don't worry if one of us happens to "duplicate" a subject! I just think it's fun to read several bloggers' reports from the same place! 🙂 We thought the boat show was great, but we don't really know what it used to be like (although we were there last year). I think the wilderness fair had definitely shrunk. A bit of a shame, because I think it's a fun fair! Today you can see what Peter has come up with 🙂 .

Lena in Wales says:
Sounds exciting!
Looks a bit outdoorsy to me, but maybe that's what it's all about.
Got stuck on the food, of course!
Have a nice weekend!
11 March 2017 - 19:11
Helena says:
The Wilderness Fair contains a mix of wilderness, outdoor activities, adventure activities, travel... and food, it seems 😉 Wishing you a nice weekend as well!

Motorhome Helge says:
Being in the wild gives you free air. Fortunately, you can choose the definition of outdoor life that suits you best or that you enjoy the most. Most of the time, however, it is ordinary outdoor life for us, although I would like to be able to photograph a bear in the wilderness . Borderline problems, of course, but both fairs certainly have their justification.
11 March 2017 - 22:20
Helena says:
The definitions may not really matter, as long as you enjoy your outdoor life! 🙂 But a little interesting to think about the words, and hear what meanings others put in them. Have a great time!
