Wow, what a luxury hotel in Malta! On our last night in Malta, we moved from the island of Gozo to a luxury hotel in Malta. Fortina Spa Resort is located in Sliema, not far from Valletta. What is luxury? Could it be staying in a really modern room, and having a balcony that runs around the entire room, overlooking the entire capital? Come to a luxury hotel in Malta!
Hotels in Malta with a view
When we entered our room on the 12th floor of the Fortina Spa Resort i Sliema we didn't believe it was true. First we saw the view from the window. Then we realised that we had a huge balcony that stretched around the entire hotel room. We could really see the entire capital city of Valletta. I can't really explain this - but check out Peter's film!
Spa - maybe even in-room?
As the name implies, Fortina Spa Resort is a spa hotel. We only stayed at the hotel for one night, so we didn't have time to test it, but you can read about the spa department at Liniz Travel & Lifestyle.
There are also rooms where you have your own in-room spa. If you scroll down a bit in the report at Food and travel blog you can see what these rooms look like. However, I would always choose our modern and newly renovated room on the 12th floor over these slightly older spa rooms overlooking the courtyard (and no, there was no direct price difference).
An evening in Valletta
The hotel is well located on the waterfront in Sliema, close to restaurants, shops and rocky beaches. If you want to get to the capital Valletta in the daytime, it's quick and easy by boat - in the evening and at night, you have to take a short detour by taxi.
What did we do on our last night? We went into Valletta and had dinner at the restaurant. Palazzo Preca, where we had a really good dinner. If only we weren't so tired, we would have hung out in the bars for a while after that - the atmosphere in Valletta in the evening is really inviting!

WOW!!! What a hotel room! A bit of a shame really when you get such nice rooms, because then you do not really want to go out... But I see that you blamed "fatigue" to go home to the hotel again and enjoy the view of Valetta by night 😉
Have a nice Sunday!

Elisabeth Gejrot says:
I just have to go to Malta - a long weekend in the autumn, perhaps? A single never so small disadvantage of being with a French wine farmer's house is that the other trips are significantly fewer and here, more than five years after the acquisition, it starts to pull a little in that other travel arm... Work life is currently also more flexible, so maybe...?
Then a question for you motorhome experts; it is getting close to the daughter's wedding in Solna church with subsequent dinner at Haga Forum. The bride's aunt is coming in her motorhome and I would like to tell them about a good place to park, preferably within walking distance of the venue - any tips?
23 April 2017 - 14:00
Helena says:
I understand the dilemma between lovely accommodation, and still wanting to travel sometime 😉 I don't know that there is any parking space near Haga forum. I would probably park the motorhome in a regular car park, maybe just outside if there is one. As long as you follow all the parking rules, you can park a motorhome in a car park.

Ah, we have "been to" this hotel on a previous visit to Malta. The son's then girlfriend had seen that there was a discount on spa treatments and entry to their beach club across the road, so we went to the beach club there. She also booked a Chocolate Massage at the hotel for me, judge my surprise as it was a guy who would do the chocolate rubbing! But he was very polite and discreet, so the chocolate massage became a nice memory after all, hihi!
24 April 2017 - 4:17
Helena says:
Glad you have been to this hotel. I have also tried chocolate massage, but in Croatia. And then it was also a male masseur ...
