We tried a full-day mountain bike tour in Gozo, Malta. We cycled along the coastline and experienced everything from dramatic cliffs to cosy fishing villages. We have to say that mountain biking in Gozo is the perfect way to experience the best this island has to offer.

Tour with gozo adventures
We did our mountain bike tour with Gozo Adventures. A guide picked us up at the hotel Ta Cenc at 10am and after some safety information (like remembering that it's left-hand traffic!) we set off. We started on regular small roads, and then we arrived at the paths along the steep coastline ...

Fantastic nature
The best thing about cycling in Gozo is of course the amazing nature. It was most beautiful around the prehistoric temple where we stopped for our packed lunch. Here we could sit in the middle of the sea of flowers and look out over the dramatic coastline.

Coffee and fishing boats in Xlendi
We also stopped for a coffee in the charming village of Xlendi, where you can see the classic and colourful Maltese fishing boats. The second image below is a 360 photo - move around the image with your mouse pointer or turn your phone to see Xlendi!

Who can mountain bike in Gozo?
A mountain bike tour in Gozo is for anyone who is fit enough to ride a bike. The tour is tailored to the ability and preferences of the participants, ranging from a leisurely ride with plenty of breaks to a more intense tour with a faster pace and more challenging terrain.
If you just want a cosy tour and don't feel very fit, we recommend booking a half-day tour instead of a full-day tour... Please note that the second picture below is a 360 photo!

Things to consider
If you also want to go mountain biking in Gozo, here are some tips:
- The best time for cycling is from October to May. During the summer it can be too hot.
- Take comfortable clothes for the weather and a small rucksack. A thin wind or rain jacket that can be put on or taken off as needed is a good idea.
- Bring a bottle of water (during full-day tours, a picnic lunch including water is included).
- Don't forget your camera! The nature is really beautiful! Yes, and then the villages, boats and churches ...

Here I must say that I am first impressed by your fantastic pictures! Beautiful Malta with the little gem Gozo really comes into its own and you are so good at showing it, both in words and pictures.
.

Do not know if I missed something but read a comment at BP where Susjos writes that she met Helena at Arlanda. Have you already gone home? Feels like you just came to the island but time goes fast.

Great pictures and great info. Going with my daughter to Gozo in June and Malta for a few days. Staying in Xlendi. Is it possible to rent from there on site or should you book from home? Do you cycle in a group?

How wonderful that you are going to Malta and Gozo! My understanding is that they require at least 2 people to organise a full day tour and at least 3 people to organise a half day tour. They take a maximum of 10 people on a guide. I would email them and ask if you need to book. Contact details can be found here: http://www.gozoadventures.com/contact-us
