Most people who have been to Croatia agree that it is a fantastic country with a long coastline, crystal clear waters, lots of islands, cosy villages and fascinating national parks. Those who have travelled by campervan know that there are plenty of campsites, but parking spaces are scarce.
We've just received a tip from the Croatian Tourist Board about a new campsite in Croatia, near Zadar, so we thought we'd share it with you! We also recommend our list of campsites in Croatia.
New pitch in Croatia
The motorway service area Camperstop Marni, which is located in the village of Murvica outside of Zadaropened last Saturday and has 36 pitches. Each site has electricity and water, and there is a service building with toilets, showers, the possibility of emptying the motorhome toilet and laundry facilities. The site is illuminated, fenced and video-monitored, there is free WiFi and there are plans to build a swimming pool.
The distance to Zadar is 5 km and the nearest grocery store is 2 km away. Attractions in the vicinity include the city of Zadar, Paklenica National Park, the Zadar archipelago and the Kornati National Park. The location is not exactly by the sea though, but inland from Zadar. The price? About 260 SEK/day in high season and 200 SEK/day in low season.
More motorhome pitches in Croatia?
Croatia is motorhome-friendly in many ways: the roads are often good and there are plenty of campsites. But pitches? Well... not many, and the rules around free camping are strict. We have simply chosen to stay mostly on campsites when we have been in Croatia.
If you want to keep prices down, our top tips are to either choose small and simple campsites or to get a ACSI card, which offers substantial discounts on ACSI-affiliated campsites during the low season (dates vary, but most of the year except July and August).

Parking spaces are more than enough!
My memory of campsites is that they are very expensive plus you don't use all the facilities anyway.
Croatia beckons 😀

Helena says:
If you have an ACSI discount, camping prices can be fine. But in the high season it often gets expensive ...

So... I don't really understand? What's wrong with campsites? Checked your list and the ones where you remembered the price were cheaper than this new site. Significantly more cosy surroundings too ...
But maybe they are more centrally located, the car parks? The location is an important aspect. 🙂
04 April 2017 - 8:54
Helena says:
If you compare prices in the high season (when you cannot use the ACSI discount), the campsites are significantly more expensive. So one advantage is the price. Another advantage can be the location in many cases. We don't think there is anything "wrong" with campsites. But good with alternatives!

Anette Åhnbrink says:
More pitches for the people!!! We have a small tip, auto Camp Adriatic II in Molunat/Konavle, at the bottom of Croatia and close to the border with Montenegro, quiet and peaceful, a bar, a shop, a restaurant, and you swim in the harbour, because at the sandy beach there were lots of sea urchins....and don't drive down to Camp Monika at the crossroads, steep and it is closed!

We were in Italy for seven years, alternating with Croatia on the way home. Then there were at least two full summers in Croatia. What really attracts, is the absolutely wonderful water, the islands, harbour towns and small villages. Maybe we will return.

A perfect place to park if you don't want to get sand between your toes like me, for example. On the other hand, we have no caravan so...;-)
As someone completely uninitiated in the subject, but after reading your blog and a few other "motorhome blogs", I think that site is expensive, especially in the low season.
04 April 2017 - 21:33
Helena says:
Love that you have an overview of the price situation on pitches 🙂 Camping in Croatia is also not very cheap on the other hand. When we travelled during the low season and had an ACSI discount, it became significantly cheaper.
