In San Francisco there are lots of buildings filled with start-up companies and new ideas to fit into our digital world. Elin Elkehag sold her apartment in Stockholm, quit her 90 000 a month job and moved to San Francisco. She had an idea that she strongly believed in. Join us!

Stillas motion alarm
In 2014 Elin thought she needed 100 days to develop the idea of a motion alarm, well it's 2017 now. Many trips to China to many factories, expensive flats and eventually becoming very poor. A lot of pasta and not giving up is the recipe. Now she has raised 1 million dollars from a company that believes in her alarm, and more peace of mind.
Stilla's motion alarm is the size of a nickel and is linked to an app. Hide it in your handbag and if someone grabs it, a loud alarm will sound. Put it in your children's clothes and if they get too far away, it will sound an alarm. People with specific diseases such as Alzheimer's may need a small button alarm. The list is long and when it's released this year, I'm sure it will be a big seller. It's great to see innovative people.
SAS Flies to Israel
SAS launches a new direct route to popular Eilat, located on the Red Sea in southern Israel, offers everything from white sand beaches, coral reefs and desert life to nightlife. Travelling to Israel with SAS is definitely something we are interested in.
Travel agency Iceland
Iceland is getting hotter and hotter. The World Cup and Game of Thrones have made beautiful Iceland a favourite. Iceland will be crowded this summer.
Viking line builds new ship
New ship is underway and will be built in China. The price is €194 million and delivery is scheduled for 2020.
Motorhomes and caravans increase
There is a huge demand for motorhomes and caravans and new records are being set everywhere. SoliferPolar increased its order intake by 65 per cent in 2016 and already sees an increase of 20 per cent for this year. Niesmann Bischoff becomes the official partner for the 2017 Hockey World Cup. As I said, things are going well in the camping world.
Cabin rentals increase
Sweden is fantastic and cottages are in short supply for the summer. Bookings for cottages have gone up by 23 per cent. Novasol AB talks about how the cottage rentals look.

I will keep an eye on it in the future and write when it is available Lennart.

The alarm is interesting.
I don't know if I would want to go to Israel, like Egypt it feels unsafe, lots of suicide bombers and the like.
Iceland is a dream though 🙂
Right now there are a lot of emails from different campsites and I wish me a nice caravan summer 🙂 The problem is two, my parents and the dogs. But it will work out in some way 🙂
Have a nice Monday.
24 April 2017 - 8:12
Peter says:
Problems in planning, haha. It is not easy to take everyone into account during a summer. More holidays for the people and longer summers.

Across the board says:
There are many types of alarms in what we call "welfare technology" and development is moving at a rapid pace.
24 April 2017 - 8:51
Peter says:
I agree and soon it will surely be in nanotechnology so we will hide it in our hair. The alarm is fun and it will go well.
24 April 2017 - 17:35
Ama de casa says:
Sounds very clever, that alarm 🙂
But what people seem to want to travel? What's wrong with staying at home really... 😉.
Have a great start to the week!
24 April 2017 - 9:23
Peter says:
I guess it depends on where you live, right? We want more sun and warmth and as I write this it's a wet snowstorm. No fun at all!
24 April 2017 - 17:37
Ruth in Virginia says:
Excuse me, but here comes the grammar police. 🙂
"It probably depends on WHERE you live ..."
Then it may depend on WHERE you move.
(WHERE are you, and WHERE are you going?)
24 April 2017 - 21:08
Peter says:
Absolutely right Ruth! A clear fatigue syndrome that only exists in Stockholm, haha. Sometimes a small little frog slips out when you are mentally tired.

Mr Frank Olsen says:
Eilat is great! We have been there once a few years ago. At that time there was a charter with Apollo from Stavanger, but it was SAS that flew. We actually flew to Jordan because the runway in Eilat is too short for B737. We were taken by bus to the border and had to cross from Jordan to Israel with armed guards on both sides. Then it was another bus to the hotel in Eilat. As said a very nice place?
24 April 2017 - 9:26
Peter says:
I'm glad you said that, Frank, because we're very keen. But what a journey you made with guards and everything. Was it really safe then? A bit of adventure on that trip.

Ruth in Virginia says:
"runway"
What a cute word!

Haha, I can only agree!

Interesting alarm! Exciting news! Hugs
24 April 2017 - 9:36

Thanks Lina and that's what I wanted to hear. To just get some news served up about what is happening in the market. Hugs!

Marina says:
Exciting with the alarm! When it comes to travelling, Iceland has long been on my wish list and the direct line to Israel sounds clearly interesting.
24 April 2017 - 11:57
Peter says:
Now we have three common denominators and maybe we should join forces, haha. We have been to Iceland and we can recommend it, but Israel is exciting and it feels like we will book later.

Matts Torebring says:
There were only positive things, all on one board, what fun!
24 April 2017 - 18:58
Peter says:
Thank you Matts! It was intended that you would just get some news, just like that on Monday morning. Glad you liked it!

Ditte says:
The alarm seems great and I hope it can be put into production and sold soon. And innovative ideas are great.
As for motorhomes, I read just this week that there were plans for extra taxes and quite a lot for motorhomes. But I don't know if it's finalised yet, I also heard it on the news on TV. Maybe it's time to protest.
Fun with the travel both in Sweden and abroad and it will be exciting to see if the SAS line to Israel will carry itself. Israel has been down for a number of years and has not had many travellers. We were last there in 2006 and travelled with El Al, the Israeli company.
We are keen on Iceland, but some countries are ahead of us.
24 April 2017 - 19:26
Peter says:
We will see Ditte! I am going to a meeting with Svensk Camping on 3 May and it will probably come up then. We who have not been to Israel think that, on paper, it sounds a bit adventurous. Different environment and it attracts us. Everyone has their bucket list.
25 April 2017 - 10:16
Husis blog says:
There are many different exciting alarms, this one you show is one. Iceland is high on my wish list as a country to travel to and I would like to drive a motorhome there too. But it is also the case that the owners cannot do everything they want...? Have a good time. Hugs
24 April 2017 - 19:28
Peter says:
I understand exactly what you mean. We also want so much but time and money are not enough. Taking a motorhome to Iceland takes 50 hours from Gothenburg and it can be very bumpy on the Atlantic Ocean. Maybe something for us to film and write about.
25 April 2017 - 10:18
BP says:
The alarm seems great! So much fun with people who go all out and finally find a funder. I really wish her good luck!
Eilat - well, I definitely prefer Tel Aviv, where Norwegian flies, but nice to have another destination in Israel.
It's great that tourism in Sweden is also doing well.
24 April 2017 - 21:26
Peter says:
Sweden is booming and people are travelling like crazy. We understand everyone who wants to travel and see more of the world. We also want to see Tel Aviv because we think Israel is exciting. The 360 camera and drone would get hot there. I long for the warmth.
25 April 2017 - 10:20
Netti Starby says:
How exciting with the alarm! 😀
24 April 2017 - 21:52

Hello there! I will of course write when it comes out with prices and where you can order it. Hugs to you.

First time at Keflavik, 1960, when me and my two little girls flew
from Los Angeles to Copenhagen. No jets in those days; took about 20 minutes.
hours with two refuelling stops. Get out of the plane and
thought I was going to fly off the stairs - it was windy as hell!
Flew Loftleidir (Icelandair) several times later but stayed in R-vik.
only once (1978). The husband and two children (adults) had been camping on Heimö for several days, while I was still in Sweden. Hotels were very expensive,
so we slept in a hostel. It was an old school. The beds were
metal tourist beds left by the US military. There must have been more than 20 beds in the school hall, where we slept. Quite OK for us. 🙂
Today's Iceland is something completely different.
The area between Keflavik and R-vik is believed to have been used as a training centre.
by NASA because of the lunar-like terrain.
24 April 2017 - 23:33
Peter says:
Funny story and Helena and I don't care if it takes time to fly. There are many who refuse to sit in an airport for 12 hours and pay extra to avoid it. We always have work to do wherever we are in the world, so we can wait and earn many thousands of dollars. Prices were very expensive for several years in Iceland until they almost went bankrupt. It was good for the country because now they have almost more tourists than they can handle, and the money is rolling in. The US has a lot of influence in Iceland and it's a perfect place to train, so I understand them. Thank you for telling another story from your life.
