On Mondays (if we're not travelling), we serve up short news items about travel, camping and digital technology. Today's topics include paying for your trip with a chip implant, the Kristinehamn leisure fair, and the chance to win a week as a travel reporter in Mallorca. Stay tuned!

Pay for the train with chip implants
On 17 May, the world's first train journey paid for with chip implants took place. The trip, which was organised for around 20 invited guests, went between Stockholm and Uppsala and was arranged by SJ together with Biohax International.
Travellers had a chip implanted in their hand, and the tickets were then linked to the SJ pilot number and the chip. As with all new technology, there are bound to be teething problems, and some minor issues arose when SJ's app had to read the chip. In any case, everyone made the round trip and SJ can be proud of being the first travel company in the world to carry out a trip with a chip implant. Perhaps this will become commonplace in the near future?
Cheaper to fly
According to Ticket, the average price of airline tickets this summer will fall by nine per cent compared to the same time last year. The biggest drop can be seen on flights to the United States, but it is also cheaper to fly to major European cities such as Paris, Prague and Milan.
Leisure fair in Kristinehamn
On 25-28 May, the Kristinehamn Arena will host a fair for motorhomes, caravans and leisure accessories. The fair is also attended by the annual meeting of the Motorhome Club and several different dance bands.
Tallink sponsors Summerburst
Tallink is the main sponsor of Summerburst, Sweden's largest electronic dance music festival. The festival is organised in Stockholm and Gothenburg in June and some of the artists are Justin Bieber, David Guetta and Zara Larsson.
The sponsorship is part of Tallink's summer campaign "It's always summer on a cruise" and includes activities in the festival areas and autumn cruises in collaboration with Summerburst and Live Nation.
Become a travel reporter for Kappahl and Resia.
KappAhl and Resia have teamed up for a competition where you can win a trip to Mallorca for two and become a travel reporter for a week. In addition to the trip and hotel, the winner will receive a travel kit with clothes from KappAhl and will post daily reports for KappAhl's social channels during the trip.

Cool with the chip, that's the future!
And yes, about the hockey, I forgot to cheer when I came to work this morning and had to be reminded by my Finnish colleagues about the great win 😉 Extra fun to live in a country like Finland when we beat them in hockey, hehe.

Helena says:
Haha, well hockey is even more important in Finland 😉.

Chip implants? Gosh... I felt tough travelling without a paper ticket on a flight to Barcelona the other day. I only had the ticket on my mobile phone and was soooo nervous! I will never go for that latest innovation! (Next time we go, I'll print out paper tickets... 😉 ).
Yes, BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Sweden! I'm very impressed that they managed to do that nerve-wracking thing. A little impressed with myself too who didn't fall asleep... 😀.
Have a great start to the week!

Fun with the World Cup gold in hockey! Really! Watched the match with excitement and it was close.
Saw a report on the chip implant yesterday and why not. But I don't know if I would want it myself. Feels simple as it is now with a "blip card" to Uppsala and the cities in Mälardalen. Works very well.
Interesting about cheaper travel, but it seems to be mostly big cities. In any case, I have seen that Spain absolutely does not belong there. Sought after and thus quite expensive. Spain has really increased as a country on the travel side.
Great to see a lot of new things happening on the travel front. The possibilities are enormous.
Wishing you a good start to the week.

I'm not really interested in sports, but World Cup gold is of course big and fun! 🙂 At least it was mostly big cities they reported. And yes, Spain seems to be good in many ways!

Happy Monday! 😀

Others can be guinea pigs when it comes to chip implants. I'm waiting a bit to see how it works, but development is moving fast now ... 😉 .

I hope that I will be the last person on earth to have chip implants just to survive. I've been hearing about it for probably 40 or 50 years, but now it's a reality, I saw on TV last night.

Technology is great but how will we survive the day when it doesn't work? Because that day will come, the only question is when.... Congratulations to the good hockey boys!
22 May 2017 - 20:02
Helena says:
That's always the problem, I agree! In a way, all modern technology makes you a bit vulnerable. When it works, it's good, but when it doesn't work, you become a bit helpless ...

Maybe you visit the fair in Kristinehamn this weekend then...?

Chip implants - no thanks. I'm too old for such "new fashions". Will check out KappAhl's competition. Mallis is not completely wrong, especially when you get to live in the middle of Palma and not on the "vischan"; -)
