It's that time again and the weeks go by so incredibly fast. We have heat and I am very happy about it. The week has been up and down. I have picked up the motorhome in Kristinehamn with lots of errors and I am deeply angry, but we will take it on Tuesday with film and photos.
Today is the happy day and a long weekend as well. We have had motorhome people on the houseboat and cooked homemade pitepalt and we have received a wonderful gift from one of our readers on the blog. Join us!
Table of contents
Piteå
Kjell and Dessan with the blog Everyday glitter who lives in Piteå, and has a motorhome came to visit. We had a project that we agreed on at the Kista Fair in February. They both came in and looked at the boat and then went off to the motorhome. They came back with a truck full of food and machinery! You read that right! They are like scouts, always ready!
Homemade pitepalt
Now it's time to make palt! I had never tasted it and it had to be homemade for the first time. They took over our kitchen and I mostly got to take some photos in the beginning. Not entirely wrong when there are guests who cook the food and I could get used to it, haha.
I got the chance to roll some palt to be cooked and it was really good. Now I can eat it again and I can also compare when it is good and less good. What a visit from two humble and nice people. It is love!!! Thank you! Thank you!!! Thank you!!!
Packages at the post office
We had received a picture from a reader on the blog that she had made a special book for us. We received it on Monday! What love to do this for us who write a blog, absolutely outstanding! Thank you so very very much Marina Pedersen! We are so happy for all of you we meet and have contact with through the blog and we dedicate this Happy Friday to that.
Fill up the week and enjoy the heat

Pernilla says:
Oh how good!!! How jealous I was. 😀 We ourselves ended up at surströmming dinner yesterday, maybe they can invite you next time? 😉
26 May 2017 - 6:37
Peter says:
Now we went one step too far. I usually say that I eat everything BUT I don't eat just to survive. I eat with all my senses and my sense of smell says no way and then I jump on it, haha. Unfortunately, I will not try surströmming. Hugs on a happy Friday.
26 May 2017 - 10:53
Jenn - Forever abroad says:
Oooh, I am a northerner and love palt! I must try to cook it again, I've only made it once as a student when I wanted to show my southern friends what it was. Even exists on film, haha: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XSZ214c98vs
And yes, that was a few years ago. Otherwise I only get them once a year at my mum's or grandma's house.
26 May 2017 - 6:56
Peter says:
Hello there! What wonderful reactions to this post and that I can make some of you long for a dish. Now it's time for you to make it at home again. Why not this weekend? Hugs from me.
26 May 2017 - 10:56
Anna, New York - My Bite of the Big Apple says:
What lovely blog friends who offered palt. I understand that you could get used to that, haha. Fantastic with the book too. So nice!
Yes, the blogging world offers so much. You really have made friends for life.
Hugs to you and have a nice long weekend!
26 May 2017 - 7:12
Peter says:
Many hugs back and many of us bloggers have many new wonderful friends like you and me for example.

So true. <3

Anette Åhnbrink says:
Nice friends there! Let's see if we manage to run into them this weekend! A first report from Kristinehamn: many many motorhomes are there! Looked around at the leisure fair as quickly as yesterday, seems to be a little more and some really good things that we get to look a little closer at, no new motorhome will be.... hope you can enjoy the weekend even though I understand that you are j-t tired of how they have handled Freedom? But what doesn't kill you hardens you, so happy Friday from us and some other freedomtravel fans, today it will probably be Albania-planning?But for our part only as consultants.... have a good Friday kiss and a really nice weekend you båda❤️/Anette and Robert
26 May 2017 - 7:57
Peter says:
It was a pure invasion of motorhomes in Kristinehamn and we would have liked to be there on site, and we will have to take it next year. Fun with Albania and we have a lot of hits on the blog about Albania. Of course, we will fix Freedom because we leave in three weeks and then it must be ready. The sad thing is that we miss all the weekends and to mess with both the insurance company and the workshop. Now we don't care and have a lovely Friday. I am working on the video about what happens to the car and it is fun and informative. Have a really fun weekend with thousands of other motorhomers.
26 May 2017 - 11:03
Snows says:
I have never actually eaten palt but many people seem to think it is so good. What a nice present you got!
26 May 2017 - 7:57
Peter says:
Now it's time to try it because it's good Znogge. Marina's book is soooo nice and it really fits well where it stands in the saloon, as you would say in a boat. Nice weekend.
26 May 2017 - 11:05
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
I have not tasted Pitepalt. But I think it is a bit like body cake and delicious.
26 May 2017 - 8:02
Peter says:
That's what we thought. I think it's something like that and I didn't have to make it myself. What a luxury! Have a nice weekend Nisse.
26 May 2017 - 11:08
Goatfish says:
What wonderful surprises! 😀 It's joy and love!
Divine mash, as they say here in Lisch (Lidköping)
26 May 2017 - 8:14
Peter says:
As a Stockholm resident, you get to learn a lot about Sweden through the blog. Lisch sounds like something from Austria, haha. I've never heard that before. Of course there is so much love and we know a lot about it when we get a little older. Many hugs from me.
26 May 2017 - 11:10
Across the board says:
Guests who enter the kitchen are certainly not the worst. If they also offer something so good, we can say that such friends should be cherished ☺.
The book was also fantastic.
26 May 2017 - 9:03
Peter says:
I agree with the previous speaker, haha. Of course, life is great when there are lots of friends around you, and many have become better at that in Sweden. In all southern countries, people socialise much more than we do in Sweden, but we have such horribly cold months and stay inside. Thank you for the internet so we can make new contacts when the wind is cold. Hugs and a nice weekend.
26 May 2017 - 11:14
Ditte says:
The world of blogging is amazing and so many different meetings and pleasantries it leads to.
Wonderful with friends who come to visit and bring the ingredients for the palette. Great!
I have tasted Pitepalt a few times, and then home-made, just in Piteå. Good! (But a little too powerful for me, a couple always goes down...)
And the book! What a nice and thoughtful gift! Just to rejoice!
Wish you a nice Friday and we are lucky with the weather here in the South.
26 May 2017 - 9:19
Peter says:
Hello there Ditte. I'm still hoping you'll be there on 16 June for this year's big blog event. I only managed two paltas because it's powerful and delicious. Interesting to try something new in our own country for once. Have a nice weekend and now we are enjoying the heat.
26 May 2017 - 11:17
Mr Steve says:
What wonderful blog friends you have. But, you are also something very special that always offers yourself.
I loved palt, or kams as we call it in Ångermanland, in my childhood.
26 May 2017 - 9:24
Peter says:
What a great post because I have also learnt two new words today. Kams and Lisch. I'll have to think about some Stockholm slang and get back to you. I grew up saying vart instead of blev, and it's interesting with dialects. Have a lovely weekend in the warmth Steve and say hello to your sweetheart.
26 May 2017 - 11:24
Ama de casa says:
WOW! There were no bad gifts there! Both a fantastic book and then pitepalt on it 🙂 ðŸ™'
Sorry to hear that Freedom has been abused 🙁 Really hope it works out in a good way!
Have a nice Friday!
26 May 2017 - 9:27
Peter says:
Good week all round, I would say. A car is a thing to be repaired but it takes negative energy. Positive emotions like showing appreciation and love are what we move forward with every day and make us smile with our whole body. This is what makes our week. Have a nice weekend and enjoy the warmth.
26 May 2017 - 11:29
JoY says:
Palt is so good. Some years ago Kjell took over our kitchen and I was his student and since then I also cook palt.
What nice book is the name carved in the leaf?
Enjoy the weekend Hugs
26 May 2017 - 9:49
Peter says:
Maybe Kjell should start with "at home" and teach the Swedish people how to make palt. Maybe they should drive the "paltry car" through Sweden and we can report on it. It could be a new business idea, haha. What fun that you do it yourself now Yvonne. Say hello to the old man and have a really nice weekend.
26 May 2017 - 11:32
sweet julia says:
Fantastic, I'm from Umeå and have also lived a couple of years in Jokkmokk - in other words, I'm hard-wired to like palt and of course it worked: Love palt 😉
26 May 2017 - 13:01
Peter says:
Ljuva Julia sounds so beautiful:-). Palt is in my opinion everyday food that is very good. We have other things that we eat everyday in Stockholm. Today sushi is everyday or pasta. It all depends on where you live.
27 May 2017 - 8:53
Rantamor on the retina says:
We do not eat palt, we do not eat surströmming ...
we really wonder if we are even Norwegians ???
But we have caravan fever so serious that we are starting to get eczema too, tried all the cures, and alvedon and other painkillers.
Rantafar took to whiskey one evening.... and I then relieved the fever for the moment, but returned even stronger the next day.....husbilbakis fever is not to be toyed with unfortunately !!!!
Hope you get your motorhome sorted out! Have a good time you both and thank you for the pitches you have suggested.
26 May 2017 - 14:49
Peter says:
Haha, what a lovely post. I know how much you enjoy life and that you really pick the raisins from Norrland. I am jealous of all the fish, berries and good meat you eat and you do it with class and drinks. I would like to meet you some day and that will come. Now we have a very high fever after 7 months in the workshop. We are so happy to be living in the motorhome for three weeks from midsummer and we will be smiling every day. PS. Whiskey is very good!
27 May 2017 - 8:58
Henny says:
What a great initiative by the two Pitebans. I understand that you were pleasantly surprised and well fed. I was actually tempted to cook some genuine Pitepalt myself.
For Nils-Åke's information, body cakes are made from boiled potatoes while palt is made from raw grated potatoes.
I hope Helena gets better and can enjoy the weekend and the summer weather.
26 May 2017 - 15:23
Peter says:
We were able to squeeze in two and that was it. We will eat it again but not prepare it ourselves. It's nice to vary your diet but since we eat fish 6 days a week, palt doesn't really fit in. It was nice to taste it and to know that I can order it when we end up in the country is just fun.
27 May 2017 - 9:02
Deciree says:
We are so very happy that we got to meet you and offer our food culture 🙂 Then you are so innately happy that you liked the pallet as well 🙂 Sad that the car was not ok for you and that you had a lot of errors on it. ojoj so sad. Really hope that everything works out. Hugs to both fine 2
26 May 2017 - 16:45
Peter says:
We are very open to food and we want to try it. We are the ones to thank because you are such wonderful people. The motorhome will be a chapter in itself and I am very disappointed. There are some people who are going to get the boot on Tuesday when our article comes out about the motorhome. Hold on to your hats.
27 May 2017 - 9:04
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
After reading the post and all the nice comments, I begin to realise that I have missed something fundamental in my education. Although I am interested in food and eat most things that are offered including guinea pig and snake, I have missed both palt and body cakes. This should be remedied when we go north in the autumn! Have a nice weekend!
26 May 2017 - 16:54
Peter says:
Haha, what fun that Kjell has opened your doors too! Now you have a mission and you can't die until you've eaten palt, haha.
27 May 2017 - 9:06
Husis blog says:
Imagine what blogs can provide, different kinds of good tips, new friends AND chefs in the kitchen. It's a luxurious existence...?. To also get a cool book in the mail, that's the icing on the cake!
Wishing you a really nice weekend and that FREEDOM will soon be whole so that it can get out on the big roads.
Hugs from a sunny and warm Kristinehamn.
26 May 2017 - 18:19
Peter says:
Of course you are also in Kristinehamn! Damn workshop. We so wanted to be there and meet you all. Sometimes it hurts... What saved the week was Dessan and Kjell and Marina. Thank you again!
27 May 2017 - 9:09
Matts Torebring says:
Wow, that's the worst thing I've heard, guests who bring both food and food preparation machines, I've never seen that. Only northerners can do that. I like body cake, so I would certainly have liked this too.
26 May 2017 - 19:04
Peter says:
Isn't it wonderful! I felt a bit lost just not knowing what to do in my own kitchen but I managed to take some photos. Now you know you can try it but beware of bad restaurants.
27 May 2017 - 9:11
BP says:
Perfect with guests who take care of the cooking! Pitepalt is good! Have only eaten it twice, but really liked the flavour!
Then I think the book is a pure work of art! Absolutely incredibly beautiful I must say! What does the book contain - text and pictures from your blog or?!
26 May 2017 - 20:22
Peter says:
Hi BP! It is a beautiful book and if she had written 350 pages about us it would have taken years. Just the job of cutting the pages to get what is written is no mean feat.
27 May 2017 - 9:15
Kjell says:
Thank you Peter and Helena for welcoming us, and allowing us to come and look after you for a while? Two genuinely Goa and cosy people who shine with the joy of life. That we got to "roll palt" together was just a bunus? I usually thank Dessan from time to time for starting the blog. Without it, I would never have got to know you ❤️
27 May 2017 - 0:23
Peter says:
This was something special that you won't forget. I can only say the same about getting to know you. It hurt a bit when I picked up the motorhome in Kristinehamn and I left at noon and see how many motorhomes there are there, and you as well. I thought about turning around when I got to Stockholm, but there was too much wrong with the motorhome. What a beautiful weekend you have and what wonderful people you meet this weekend. Thank you for giving us the chance to get to know you. Love.
27 May 2017 - 9:19
Emma, sun like sun? says:
If pitepalt tastes like body cakes, it is super good! I actually made it (body cakes) a few months ago (I write happily and remember that I blogged about it - in OCTOBER!!!!), the son loves it! Asch, now I also became hungry for it.
That book is magically beautiful! What craftsmanship. Deeply impressed! But I also wonder what the book is about. Or is it just white pages for you to fill?
Have a great Sunday evening!
