The story of our campervan in the workshop has been a long one. It began with a dramatic stop on the motorway and the recovery of the motorhome at the end of October. The motorhome ended up in a workshop in Kristinehamn and a windscreen wiper motor failure has kept it going until now.
First we were told that we would pick it up on Monday, but it was postponed until today because they suddenly discovered that the windscreen wiper washer motor was also broken... I wonder if we will now get the chance to do a motorhome trip during the Ascension weekend?
Hope the motorhome is ok
Step 1 is that we hope the motorhome is ok, and that they took good care of it during the long winter! Peter will take the train to Kristinehamn today, while I'm working, and pick it up. He will of course tell us more about everything soon.
Trip cancellation and long distance guests
Some may remember that we had planned to join a press trip to the Czech Republic during the Ascension weekend. For various reasons, we had to cancel that trip. It certainly seemed exciting and interesting, but now it feels almost good that we stayed at home. We've been hysterically busy and on top of that I'm getting sick ...
Last night we also had a visit from long-distance guests who offered (for us) very exotic food. Very good and very nice! Will return about it!
Motorhome holidays in the Ascension weekend?
If the motorhome is ok, we would love to do some driving during the Ascension weekend, but we haven't dared to make any big plans yet, as we want to see how the motorhome feels first.
Are you a motorhome owner going on a road trip this weekend? Where are you travelling to? You know that you can always find our travel tips in Sweden and our experience with Pitches and campsites in Sweden in the menu at the top of the blog?
Across the board says:
Then I keep both fingers and toes that Freedom is doing very well now! You should get better, Helena and that food is not something we eat very often. I also made them myself - 20 years ago 😀 Understand that you had a really nice evening!
We are driving to Öland today and we are primarily focusing on Kårehamn, with its fish shop and good restaurant.
24 May 2017 - 6:49
Helena says:
Thank you, we are also keeping our fingers and toes crossed! I had never eaten this food before, only heard about it, so it was exciting. I think it's really good! Wish you a nice trip to Öland!
24 May 2017 - 8:18
Henny says:
Good luck with your motorhome and your health. Hope you have a relaxing long weekend.
24 May 2017 - 21:35
Lennart says:
Tyllsnäs outside Borlänge is a nice place!
24 May 2017 - 7:16
Helena says:
Thank you so much for the tips! 🙂
24 May 2017 - 8:19
Anki says:
Keep your fingers crossed that Peter gets a healthy motorhome home so you can finally make the first trip of the spring!
24 May 2017 - 7:30
Helena says:
Thank you, we really hope so! Miss our motorhome and the nice relaxed way of travelling!
24 May 2017 - 8:20
Deciree says:
Wishing you again good luck with the motorhome. Keep your fingers crossed that it goes well. But it was the absolute longest time at a workshop we have been through! Get well with you Helena. Glad we could meet anyway yesterday. Hugs to you
24 May 2017 - 7:34
Helena says:
Thank you for that and thank you so much for yesterday! Had of course wished I had been more alert, but it was at least super nice to meet! 🙂 Wish you a nice trip and yes, we really hope it goes well with the motorhome now ...!
24 May 2017 - 8:27
Kenneth Risberg says:
Then we really hope that everything is fixed on Freedom, he can well honk when passing Örebro on the way home. I myself take the HB to Kristinehamn on Friday after a visit to Stockholm on Ascension Day. Looks to be nice weekend weather.
Enjoy!
24 May 2017 - 7:37
Helena says:
Haha, I have to tell him to honk! 🙂 It is a bit ironic that Peter goes to Kristinehamn without going to the meeting or the fair ... but we want to get the motorhome home and fix it (and I could not follow because I work). (Right now on the way to a meeting in Norrtälje so I got time to answer all the comments here;))
24 May 2017 - 8:30
Biggeros says:
Hope you'll be travelling this weekend?
It's unfortunate that problems arise at the same time as illness and travelling with the motorhome. Sometimes it's just a matter of rest. Here we will celebrate with beach visits and good food. Maybe an occasional excursion. Nothing else in particular. Get well soon/ hugs
24 May 2017 - 9:23
Helena says:
Now we have got the motorhome home - with an expensive note and still broken, so it does not look so positive ... we hope it will work out. Beach visit and good food does not sound so bad!
24 May 2017 - 21:58
Ama de casa says:
So... the windscreen wiper motor? Not that I'm technically knowledgeable, but how hard can it be? Doesn't sound that complicated. And not having seen that the windscreen spray does not work? Feels like something you test when you fix it all... Oh well. Freedom has had a good setup over the winter anyway....
Fingers crossed that Freedom comes home at last, and that you manage to avoid getting sick.
Hugs
24 May 2017 - 9:28
Helena says:
Yes, one wonders ... Unfortunately, I do not know if the setup was so good either. I think it was outside and everything seems to have broken or frozen... sigh. (And I got cold and also got asthma. Not all days can be good days I guess ... ;))
24 May 2017 - 22:00
Mr Steve says:
7 months to fix faults with the windscreen wipers, that workshop does not impress. I hope that FREEDOM has been well taken care of during the winter and that you will have a fond reunion this weekend.
24 May 2017 - 9:38
Helena says:
Unfortunately, they don't impress with their care either. Peter has already had to replace the frozen tap and now we have a whole list of faults that need to be fixed ...
24 May 2017 - 22:01
Ditte says:
Keep your fingers crossed that the motorhome is now doing well and that you will also do it. The Czech Republic will remain and it is nice to have more time to experience things if you now make a trip.
Have a nice weekend!
24 May 2017 - 9:57
Helena says:
Yes, the Czech Republic is still there, so it doesn't feel like a problem. Instead, we can devote ourselves wholeheartedly to all the problems that have arisen in the motorhome after the time at the workshop ... sigh.
24 May 2017 - 22:03
Anette Åhnbrink says:
Get well soon! And really hope that you can take care of Freedom now! We report from Kristinehamn ? Will roll so slowly later today, to meet up with three more motorhomes tomorrow, before we roll into the area! Have a nice Christ flyer weekend/Anette
24 May 2017 - 10:53
Helena says:
Thank you very much! And we look forward to reports! Peter was there for the day today, but unfortunately could not stay. Lots of faults on the motorhome after the stay at the workshop (!) so now we have to deal with it ...!
24 May 2017 - 22:04
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Like everyone else, keep your fingers crossed that everything is ok with Freedom so you get out and roll. We ourselves must stay at home on Ascension Day, but it does not matter so much because we will pack the motorhome and when I have worked on Friday we leave for a hopefully wonderful early summer week among rauks, asparagus and orchids on Gotland.
24 May 2017 - 13:14
Helena says:
You will certainly have a great trip to Gotland! We won't be going away this weekend either. Peter has picked up the motorhome, but there are lots of faults on it. It will be inspected tomorrow morning, but after that it must probably go to a new workshop ....!
24 May 2017 - 22:06
BP says:
I really hope that Freedom is doing well now that he can finally come home!
There's nothing wrong with a quiet weekend, especially if you're ailing. Bad timing considering it's a long weekend. Rest during the weekend, so you'll be fresh and alert again when you go to work on Monday;-)
24 May 2017 - 18:26
Helena says:
Calm weekend feels quite ok! However, FREEDOM unfortunately does not feel as good as one could wish. Several rather large errors have occurred during the time at the workshop, unfortunately ... 🙁
25 May 2017 - 4:53
Matts Torebring says:
You are really patient, having waited so long for your motorhome without being frustrated. On the other hand, when would you have had time to leave? You've been busy the whole time. I hope you get to feel the freedom. We are going to "Liköping" and will stay in a barn, which has been converted into a hotel. Have a good time!
24 May 2017 - 19:14
Helena says:
It is true that we have not had much time, but now we really want it! Longing for the free way of travelling in a motorhome. But they have not taken care of it very well, it feels like, many things have broken during storage there ....
25 May 2017 - 4:55
JoY says:
Agree with the previous comments and we keep our fingers crossed that all is well with Freedom. You can get better now Helena when the weekends come. I myself feel like my cold is about to start over, again! In addition, I will work Friday-Monday ...
Hugs
24 May 2017 - 19:31
Helena says:
Thank you very much! I have become quite ill actually, but now I have time to rest. Hope you can avoid getting sick again!
25 May 2017 - 4:57
Veiken says:
My goodness what a pain for Freedom, who was still a bit "sick" Hope he*s fully recovered now and you too by the way!
24 May 2017 - 19:44
Helena says:
Yes, it has really been a pain! Unfortunately, it does not seem to be over yet either ... even though we got the motorhome home.
25 May 2017 - 9:36
Husis blog says:
How wonderful for you that FREEDOM can finally come home to its owners. I hope everything will go well so you can enjoy some weekends, if you can fit it into your schedule with FREEDOM.
I'm in Skövde and tomorrow I'm driving to Kristinehamn, so it's a shame you weren't there.
24 May 2017 - 20:54
Helena says:
Yes, it is really a pity that we could not stay in Kristinehamn. Firstly, I was not there (I was working) and secondly, there are unfortunately problems with the motorhome that we have to fix ... I'm sure you will have great days in Kristinehamn! Peter told me that he saw lots of motorhomes there yesterday.
25 May 2017 - 9:38
Role o Carina says:
Sorry about your motorhome not being fixed after so long!
We are going out on a Premiere trip with an overnight stay in our new Coral 🙂 .
Take care anyway.......Kram
24 May 2017 - 22:28
Helena says:
Oh, wish you a great first trip! Yes, unfortunately Peter came home yesterday with a motorhome with new faults that must be fixed ... sigh.
25 May 2017 - 9:39
Åke Hammarbäck says:
Your nice motorhome with extra everything will come home fine I hope!
Am on the ferry over to Rostock now, driving down to Tropical Island for a day's swim, then 2 days in Berlin at the new Oasen site.
Regards
Åke
24 May 2017 - 23:13
Helena says:
Well, when Peter picked up the motorhome yesterday, there were a lot of new faults ... Among other things, the tap had frozen and it sounded strange when Peter drove ... So we still have a little to deal with unfortunately. Wish you a really nice trip to Germany!
25 May 2017 - 9:40
Ninny says:
Good luck with the motorhome, and get well Helena! Hope you have a nice Ascension weekend, however it turns out! Enjoy the spring / summer that has finally come 😉.
25 May 2017 - 8:41
Helena says:
Thank you so much! It looks like we will stay at home (since there are more faults on the motorhome), but it's nice to have nice weather! Nice weekend!
25 May 2017 - 9:41
Inga Magnusson says:
When you are in Kristinehamn, it is close to Årjäng. You can take a trip here and we can make some excursions on the lake by boat during the weekend. You can park the motorhome at one of Sweden's finest campsites, Camp Grinsby, which received incredible praise in a motorhome magazine. They wrote that there was such good order everywhere at this wilderness campsite by Lake Stora Bör that it must be owned by pedants. New fresh sanitary facilities.
25 May 2017 - 8:45
Helena says:
Unfortunately, we are not left in Kristinehamn (and I was not there because I was working), but we would love to come and visit at another time!!!! Thanks also for tips on nice camping!
25 May 2017 - 9:42
Solan says:
I'm coming in late, but I hope you get Freedom sorted out. The whole thing is very slow and boring, but we keep our fingers crossed that it goes in the right direction. After all, the best relaxation is the motorhome. Maximum freedom actually.
