Our FREEDOM motorhome is finally home - after seven months in the workshop. It is wonderful to see it in the car park. but it's not quite as fun as it could have been. When we handed it in, it had one error. When we picked it up, this particular fault was fixed, but now there were a lot of new faults on the motorhome after the workshop!
Motorhome failure after workshop
How it could take seven months to repair the windscreen wiper motor is a little difficult to understand, but at least that fault has now been rectified. So what are the new faults that have arisen? Watch the film and hear Peter tell you!
Workshop again
On Wednesday, our motorhome will go to the workshop again. Now we really hope that the new problems can be solved more quickly. After midsummer we plan to go to Poland and the Czech Republic with the motorhome.
We have charged the shed with two gel batteries for a day and they are receiving 100 per cent but how long do they last? After the shed has finished charging, it should automatically switch to charging the car battery, but it seems slow. To be continued.
Ramona says:
How sad when it doesn't work as it should. Hope it gets better soon 🙂
30 May 2017 - 6:24
Peter says:
Everything works out, but it depends on how much energy you have to put in to make it work. Or money and hassle. I don't want to believe anything beforehand but I'll know more in the coming week.
30 May 2017 - 9:44
Hasse says:
Neverending story, hope it works out with everything.
30 May 2017 - 6:48
Peter says:
I want to find an "end" to my story. We'll see during the week.
30 May 2017 - 9:45
Hasse says:
It usually works out in the end.
30 May 2017 - 12:39
Across the board says:
I must say that I am impressed by you Peter who sounds so calm in the film. I would be mad as hell! But maybe it's take 329 😉 .
I really hope Freedom ends up at a workshop that knows what a motorhome is. And I keep my fingers and toes crossed that you get the compensation you deserve.
Powerful hugs
30 May 2017 - 6:52
Peter says:
Hahahahha. Take 329, hahaha. I try to see life from the bright side and I have a very long fuse. I know that nothing is solved by getting angry, but with good communication you can get a lot further. I am positive and now it must be resolved. I'm taking your hug of strength with me and I'm going to use it.
30 May 2017 - 9:48
Peter says:
What a shame! Hope the company and the insurance company can come to an agreement so you don't have to deal with all the hassle!
30 May 2017 - 6:59
Peter says:
Hi Peter! These are two completely different things. The insurance should cover the damage and what comes around but not the handling of the motorhome. If things break down at a workshop, I have to deal with the workshop myself. I have two different types to deal with and we'll see how it goes.
30 May 2017 - 9:50
Erik says:
CHECK THE FUSE ON THE BATTERY, IT MAY BE THE ONE THAT IS BROKEN.
30 May 2017 - 7:39
Peter says:
Thanks for an idea Erik. I thought that tomorrow the new workshop will go through several different points such as batteries and fuses. I will write on the blog about what happens.
30 May 2017 - 9:52
åsa in åsele says:
Well... bad luck. I hope it works out.
30 May 2017 - 7:44
Peter says:
Thank you very much! As long as it is without too much discord and others realise that they may have made some mistakes. Only it is not easy.
30 May 2017 - 9:53
Erik says:
NOTE THIS FUSE IS ON THE CAR BATTERY
30 May 2017 - 7:45
Peter says:
I will check tonight Erik. Thank you!
30 May 2017 - 9:54
Lennart says:
Sad to be without a motorhome at this beautiful time of year.
Hope it will be resolved soon!
30 May 2017 - 7:48
Peter says:
Now a long weekend has passed and there will be another one next weekend. We want to go out so badly and we can't wait.
30 May 2017 - 9:55
Mr Jan Svensson says:
What bad luck you have with the motorhome, I really hope that you get the car in time this time, so your trip will take place.
30 May 2017 - 8:24
Peter says:
We MUST get the car soon because we have already booked ferries and much more. We are working with Poland and Czech Republic to make this trip. There is no alternative so we are going.
30 May 2017 - 9:57
Deciree says:
I sympathise with you. So very sad that it turned out this way? Hope the next workshop is better and faster. Hugs to you
30 May 2017 - 8:25
Peter says:
The workshop is iveco and they know what they are doing. I think we will get the car by the weekend actually if there are no more faults. I am positive.
30 May 2017 - 9:58
Lanclin-Linnea says:
What the hell?! Should you laugh or cry?
30 May 2017 - 8:26
Peter says:
I laugh until it stops, then I cry.....
30 May 2017 - 9:59
Monet says:
That just doesn't make sense! Did you talk to the workshop that they would organise everything for winter storage? Or did they not think that it would be left for seven months?
30 May 2017 - 8:29
Peter says:
We didn't talk to the garage, but according to the insurance company, each company should know what they are doing with different vehicles. It is their responsibility to ensure that everything is returned in the right condition. If they can't do that, they should say no. They had lots of problems getting parts so it took a long time.
30 May 2017 - 10:02
Ankan says:
What is your insurance company?
30 May 2017 - 8:35
Peter says:
The motormen. You will hear how they react to this story in the future.
30 May 2017 - 10:02
Ankan says:
Thank you, now we will avoid this company in the future. Damn shitty company!
31 May 2017 - 9:17
Peter says:
It is difficult to know which company to use. I pay full insurance and this is a fault that can't be dealt with by a service, so it MUST be included. These are things that are made at the factory and I can't help it. To even try to make me pay for it is rude. We'll see what they do.
31 May 2017 - 12:12
Emma, sun like sun? says:
Insurance companies and car repair shops are a real pain in the arse! Very expensive and you always feel suspicious and cheated while "they laugh all the way to the bank".
Good publicity they get now! Haha! I laugh roughly ... (Didn't sleep well last night, can you tell?)
30 May 2017 - 8:51
Peter says:
Haha, what a wet cat! Now, damn it, haha. I'll send you in if I get in trouble. it's absolutely wonderful and they will pay out more than they intend. We share, haha.
30 May 2017 - 10:05
Emma, sun like sun? says:
More than happy to!!!!
01 June 2017 - 20:30
Dryden - Traveller's Edition says:
Ähmenvafan! 🙁
30 May 2017 - 9:13
Peter says:
Yes, I couldn't have said it better myself. I hope I won't say that later this week. Thank you for writing.
30 May 2017 - 10:06
JoY says:
Oh no, feel sorry for you. One could not think that the car would be more wrong than when you left it, Grrrrr. Fingers and toes that you get everything sorted out, quickly.
Hugs to you in abundance.
30 May 2017 - 9:19
Peter says:
I take all the hugs and it's crazy when it's more wrong when everything is done. Now they can stand up and do the right thing and I can smile for the rest of the week.
30 May 2017 - 10:08
Mr Steve says:
What a shame! I feel sorry for both FREEDOM and you. I hope that the workshop in Kristinehamn and the insurance company get their fish warm. On them so they bleed!
I am impressed with you Peter. You are a marvel of mastery in the film.
Let's hope for a quick solution so that FREEDOM and you will soon be in your element, i.e. on the road.
30 May 2017 - 9:46
Peter says:
You know Steve that I'm a positive bastard to the death. Sure it's a pain in the arse to get multiple faults after a workshop and I have to fix lots of them myself. Now it's up to them to take on the costs. To be continued.
30 May 2017 - 10:22
Ditte says:
Deplorable! And all the energy it takes with all the contacts to be taken (not just the electrical ones...) and also all the money that seems to burn up. now really hope that the insurance company and the workshop can come to an agreement. Keeping my fingers crossed.
30 May 2017 - 9:48
Peter says:
I will keep you updated and the next time will be on Happy Friday. we're going for positive news.
30 May 2017 - 10:23
Ama de casa says:
But what a misery... Get them! Surely they can't get away with such an assault? 🙁
But it's good that Freedom is at least out of the clutches of that incompetent firm.
30 May 2017 - 9:55
Peter says:
I'm going to see them tomorrow! Then I will get the first answers about how they see everything. MORR!
30 May 2017 - 10:25
Anonymous says:
Speak up!
30 May 2017 - 10:34
Peter says:
I can't do more than FUN!
31 May 2017 - 11:29
Lisa in the village says:
What a shame. I really hope you get back a flawless motorhome.
Be well!
30 May 2017 - 10:42
Peter says:
We are trying again in a new workshop. It will be interesting!
31 May 2017 - 11:29
Dan Gyll says:
It is probably fortunate that this happens to your car. Perhaps Freedom's publicity can help other cars and their owners. The motorhome is a relatively "new" phenomenon and requires different expertise than an ordinary car repair shop. It also sounds strange if the consequential damage from the electric motor fire is not covered. Read the insurance conditions before negotiating, it usually pays off. I met a gentleman on Sunday who paid 35,000 SEK (?) himself for an electrical fault in a car from 2013. We should resolve this type of damage as soon as possible for the good of the industry. Get in touch if it does not work out and you need a sounding board, it has been my job to negotiate with insurance companies. If the conditions are bad, they should be changed.
30 May 2017 - 10:51
Peter says:
Thank you Dan! What a great attitude you have and of course I will be in touch. I will write here on Friday again about the motorhome and I hope it is a good one. Great to have a contact and that's how we should help each other.
Thank you again.
31 May 2017 - 11:33
Goatfish says:
This seems unbelievable! That you can sound so calm on the video, I would bawl and cry, sobbing.
Aiming for Happy Friday 😀 ?
30 May 2017 - 11:00
Peter says:
Hi Gerd! I have to be calm and think. I believe in communication and negotiation and if that doesn't work, there will be an explosion. I do cry a little inside.
31 May 2017 - 11:35
Role o Carina says:
How sad for you with poor responsibility from workshops and expertise!
Hope it works out soon so you can go away 🙂 .
BamseHugs to you....
30 May 2017 - 11:46
Peter says:
Thank you and I take these big hugs with me in everything that happens because it is needed. THANK YOU!

Helena Kaloudi says:
Hi Peter! Helena Kaloudi here from the press lunch! Now I have found my way here, fun! Looking forward to reading your posts. Hope to see you again! //Helena
30 May 2017 - 16:35
Peter says:
Hi Helena! How nice that you hear from you:-). Of course we will meet again and have a good week. Hugs.
31 May 2017 - 11:37
Roland lindskog says:
Hi Peter this thread will be the longest I have been involved in. There has never been a problem with the wiper motor but it was hit with bad soil in the wiring (has been a campaign on this) & that water has run down into the relay box under the west headlight & the wiring may have burned further into the cabin.I have changed 4 wiring all have gone on the motor insurance. If you have not ordered winter storage from the company, you can not hang them out for the fire crane.mvh Roland L
30 May 2017 - 16:46
Peter says:
Hi Roland. The motormen are supposed to have all the details and photos of what happened, but their first inspector said it doesn't apply. I spoke to them again and they said they will have another think and consider everything. As for the winter, it was never said that it would be left there over the winter, but they never took hold of the car and it was left there. Then you have to take some responsibility for it as well. I will keep your comments in mind when the insurance company makes its decision.
31 May 2017 - 11:45
Roland lindskog says:
Hi again Peter you can extinguish the error codes by removing the battery terminal for 3 minutes. Wait 3 min. before you start but you must extinguish the error codes with a fiat computer because otherwise they will light up again when the inspector inserts his plug.
30 May 2017 - 16:54
Peter says:
Ok Roland. The car is at iveco now and I have said that it started when the inspection was done. We will see what the answer is. I will get back to you.
31 May 2017 - 11:47
Veiken says:
Oh my goodness. I, who have a relatively short fuse, would have gone ballistic.
I really hope it works out. Call PLUS if the shit hits the fan! 🙁
30 May 2017 - 17:36
Peter says:
Hi Veiken. What luck that I have a long fuse then, haha. We will get the car sorted but we want the insurance to pay for it. Why else do I have insurance for.
31 May 2017 - 11:48
Lena - good for the soul says:
My God, Peter, that almost sounds like a made-up story! I am so impressed by your calmness. I can tell you that my ears were ringing! Good luck with the continuation!
Hug Lena
30 May 2017 - 17:46
Peter says:
Haha lena. I am a calm person and always have been. There are not many things that make me go crazy, because I want to be able to think clearly about everything I do.
31 May 2017 - 11:50
Matts Torebring says:
I am sure you will solve this Peter, but it is not fun at all.
The first thing I think is SAAB! (Sell Aset Otherwise Change). This may take forever, I'm afraid. I had to say goodbye to my dearest Alfa Romeo 75 3.0 a number of years ago. Two hundred miles after a 6000 mile service, the cam came off. It was part of the 6000 mile service to replace it. "It wasn't bad, so I didn't change it", replied the Alfa Romeo workshop in Huskvarna. The car remained in the workshop without an engine for a whole year. The workshop did not want to pay and neither did the insurance company. I was forced to buy a new car.
30 May 2017 - 19:06
Peter says:
It's absolutely crazy Matts. I have no words! How you as a private person can be exposed to this. It's Alpha's fault and you shouldn't have to sit in the middle. What a story. Fy F.n

Husis blog says:
It will be exciting to hear how Motormännen handles this as I am also insured through them. Really deplorable how this has happened from the company. Must be a lot of frustration to not be able to use FREEDOM in the way it is intended. First wait 7 months, then wait some more....
I hope things work out for you soon so you can start travelling by car.
All strength to you, hugs
30 May 2017 - 19:51
Peter says:
I am also waiting anxiously for the engineers but I think it will take time. I will write as soon as I know something. Thank you very much!
31 May 2017 - 11:54
BP says:
Like others wrote, I am also impressed with how cool you are after all the misery. Okay, being positive is one thing, but getting Freedom back with more "diseases" than he suffered from in October would have made me go crazy.
Now I hope that Motormännen pays what you are entitled to. How good/bad an insurance company is only becomes apparent when a customer has a "claim" after having paid premiums for years and years...
PS. Saw Helena with the camera around her neck in the car park. Laughed well at the funny "side effect":-) DS.
30 May 2017 - 20:29
Peter says:
You see everything, haha. Now it is in the workshop again and I get to collect everything in a pile and then the insurance company gets to say its opinion, but I will of course fight to the last. First, it will be the workshop with crane and some other little things. thank you BP.
31 May 2017 - 11:57
Rantamor on the retina says:
So we, both me and Rantafar, listened to your film about Freedom last night and I fell asleep with everything on my brain and have dreamed such strange dreams last night that it cannot even be described.
What a mess it all became, and poor you, so much extra work and boredom you got.
Is this really allowed to happen in a car workshop?
Yes, but you never know what you'll encounter on a motorhome holiday and you get cold feet reading how it went for you.
We are in a position to switch to a newer motorhome, but have not yet come to any conclusion, so soon we will probably pack Kottebobil and head south. Thought to check out some motorhomes down on our trip.
I have thought about motorhoming around Lake Vättern, continue by taking the ferry over to Åland and then to Finland. But we have not really decided, waiting for a date for an estate inventory in Finland and it determines a lot also on our trip, we do not want to stress through the beautiful nature of Åland either.
Hope everything works out for your motorhome and for you, we are keeping our fingers crossed.
Tjingelingen from Rantamor and Rantafar.
31 May 2017 - 8:32
Peter says:
Strange dreams don't sound good with our car. Bad omen I think. Workshops have a responsibility over different cars and everyone has their own characteristics. you are welcome to contact us when you roll down, but we go to Poland on Midsummer Eve, so it must be before that in that case. going through Åland to Finland sounds wonderful and maybe there will be a new cone on the road. Everything will work out in the end, but then there is the question of money and time. We just want to go out and travel with FREEDOM.
31 May 2017 - 12:05
Elisabeth says:
Damn, it takes a lot of strength and energy to deal with such things. Hugs
31 May 2017 - 9:54
Peter says:
Hey, hey, hey. That's the thing about time and energy. I've already paid and I want to get everything done but it's always a mess. Puh....
31 May 2017 - 12:06
Marianne - Glimpses of the world says:
So very sad... Hope the motorhome will be cleared soon so you can get out on the road!
31 May 2017 - 21:09
Annika Majak says:
So very sad :(. This is not how it should be - that there are more faults on the car after it has been at the workshop 🙁 .
