Two weeks ago, Peter had the chance to go on board the luxurious Celebrity Silhouette, which was docked in Stockholm's Stadsgården harbour. The ship belongs to Celebrity Cruises, which is part of the Royal Caribbean International brand, and on board you will find all possible amenities. There is even a large lawn!
Have you ever been on a ship like this? If not, you can get a sneak peak by checking out Peter's film!
Large and luxurious cruise ship
Celebrity Silhouette is a large and luxury ship with room for about 2800 passengers. Most of the cabins have an outside view and 80 per cent have their own balcony.
The ship cruises in Northern Europe as well as the Mediterranean and the Caribbean, and when not docking at an exciting destination, there is plenty to keep you busy on board. These include eight different restaurants, a pool area with outdoor pools, a SPA with indoor pools and a library.
A real lawn
If you go to the top of the deck, to The Lawn Club, you'll find an area with a real lawn. Here there are cosy sofa groups where you can grill at your "own" barbecue. This would not be a bad place to kill a few hours on a lovely day with good weather! It's a bit difficult to explain everything, but check out Peter's film!
What are your experiences with cruising?
We have actually never gone on a real cruise (unless you count Finland cruises!), but we will go on a cruise in the Mediterranean this autumn. We have become more and more keen to try this way of travelling, so we are really looking forward to it! What are your experiences with cruising?
Lennart says:
Could be a trip when I can't drive a motorhome!

Peter says:
Exactly Lennart! We sometimes present things that can be done when we are not on the road. Or that our children can get information about. Take it later in life, haha.

Goatfish says:
What a huge boat!!! 😀 And my blogger friend Marlene was on it 😉 .
I was left searching in my head office for the name of the extremely large cruise ship that my girlfriend and I travelled on in the 80s from Stockholm to Helsinki. I think it was a Silja Line boat.
A little cross in the same direction, but to Åland it has become later. The last one was Birka Cruise 4 years ago. Is a bit to Stockholm too.
31 May 2017 - 9:07
Peter says:
Hi Gerd! You might consider a cruise that is a little more than the usual. We will be presenting their big ships in September in the Mediterranean, and you have two new ideas that might be worth considering.
31 May 2017 - 12:17
Ditte says:
Truly a huge ship! But a little too big for my taste. WE have cruised some and like that form of travel and cruised in the Mediterranean, once in the Caribbean, (giant ship) around North Africa with the Canary Islands and Madeira, in Asia a couple of times and from Amsterdan to the North Cape and back. But I am happy to settle for the slightly smaller ships (which are still large) which in my opinion are more personal. Having a balcony cabin is recommended and gives a nice feeling. We have used the balcony a lot because there is some time on board as well. Nice with a little peace and quiet between rounds.
We have found cruising very pleasant and I would like to do it again. A "bucket trip" is to combine the Galapagos with rounding Cape Horn and on to South Georgia. If Antarctica could also fit there, it would be even more successful.
(Many trips to the Baltics. Finland and Åland have also been travelled over the years).
Good for you with a cruise on the Mediterranean, understand that you are looking forward to it.

Peter says:
Jadu ditte, haha. The girl who has lived her life. Thanks for the fun information. You can do this, I know. I think more people will open their eyes when we have been on board and filmed in the Mediterranean. It is necessary to get a real insight to get a feeling, but it comes from us in the future.

Marina says:
What a cool "boat"! No, there has been no cruise since the "48-hour cruises to Gothenburg Felixtowe when it started. I guess a similar trip would feel slightly different today...;)
You never know, one day there might be a longer cruise somewhere...
31 May 2017 - 9:56
Peter says:
We will see what you think when we have cruised in September. The ships are mighty and it suits many because you can unwind properly, and see so much at the same time. Imagine lying on the lawn at the top and going into Stockholm. What a thing!

Ama de casa says:
I don't think I'm very interested in ticking... I'm sure it will be boring?
Haha! I had that attitude last spring when we went on a 10-day cruise in the Caribbean with the Panama Canal - did not really dare to go 15 days, would you really stand that long on a boat? Of course with a lot of interesting beaches, but still?
And yes. You could stand it! And more than that, it was absolutely marvellous. So then it was a 32-day cruise around South America in December.
The only downside (that I can think of now) is the very expensive wiffit on board.
Wouldn't mind a cruise to soon again 😀.
Great that you are going to "do" the Mediterranean!
31 May 2017 - 9:57
Peter says:
Wow! You just got stuck, haha. What fun. My God, 32 days and what a journey! If you get stuck, you get stuck. I will make really good video from the boat and I expect several films, so you really get into it. This will be very interesting.

Lena in Wales says:
I haven't been on a real cruise either, although I would like to.
Looks great!
Haven't been in your house for a while, worked a lot as a tour guide and haven't had the opportunity to look in. Now I am free for a while.
Wishing you a nice day!
31 May 2017 - 12:02
Peter says:
Hi Lena! Time to go then? Cruises are skyrocketing to get everything in one. Helena and I will be flying to Barcelona to attend, and how exciting it will be. Glad that you have a lot to do and that things are going well for you. I send a hug from me today.
31 May 2017 - 12:31
LinizTravel says:
Lovely post! What a fantastic day we had!!! Fun to see you yesterday! Big hug
31 May 2017 - 12:38
Peter says:
Hello Lina and now we met today as well. Great fun to hang out with you.
31 May 2017 - 21:32
Mr Steve says:
Impressive! I have never been attracted to cruise ships and therefore have no experience with cruises, except for Finland cruises.
31 May 2017 - 12:39
Peter says:
Maybe you'll reconsider when we go and report on the largest Freedom boat, Steve. We'll see?
31 May 2017 - 21:33
Ruth in Virginia says:
You already know what I'm thinking , when it comes to cruises
with a macro-ship (åbäken) ! When I see the photo of that unbelievably AMAZING
boat, a real eye sore, it almost makes me want to cry a little,
but I know that millions of trillions of people like it, so I
I am happy for them. And glad that there are choices.
I don't NEED to tick! No MUST! 🙂
31 May 2017 - 14:38
Peter says:
Haha, I know where you stand Ruth. You now had the chance to speak your mind again and it was presented by me, haha. You're probably sitting in Virginia and you should do what you want with your life. It's like you say, trillions do it anyway.
31 May 2017 - 21:37
Ruth in Virginia says:
Oh, oh - I'm probably sitting in Virginia right now, but I have
sat "precariously" in many, many places. But I
would think, that one sits quite safely on a cruiser too. 🙂

Lena says:
I have boarded such abnormally large ships when I worked in the Sahlén shipping company, industry, then with ship unloaders (similar to giant lifting cranes with a screw that screwed up various loads, both off-shore and in ports. The documentation of a crane was about 5 shelf metres of binders in the language of the user country.
The ship Peter boarded is extremely beautiful and luxurious you can easily get lost. Lovely little case he got that now leads you out on new adventures, just to glide along, there will be great pictures / films in the future, I understand?
31 May 2017 - 17:14
Peter says:
We will take you on a journey Lena! Maybe you'll be so tempted to book? How cool that you have worked with such gigantic ships, and I think you have a lot of stories to tell too. We will have to take it when we meet, because we will.
31 May 2017 - 21:41
Lena - good for the soul says:
Cruise to Tallinn is the most advanced I've been on, when it comes to boats. Certainly super nice with a cruise in the Mediterranean or the Caribbean.
Hug Lena

Peter says:
We are indeed making our debut in the Mediterranean in September. We'll tell you all about the boat and the places we'll be docking at.
31 May 2017 - 21:42
Matts Torebring says:
Very nice luxury cruiser! I would not find peace after two days. What shall we do now? I would say. I am and always will be a motorhome addict!
31 May 2017 - 18:55
Peter says:
Haha Matts! You are so beautifully stuck in what you like, so you can also go a little crazy on you, haha. I will show you what you can do on a ship when the car is in winter storage. I send you a hug!
31 May 2017 - 21:45
snort says:
What a huge ship and what a range on board. I myself have never gone on any cruise and do not feel any desire for it. But you should never say never and if you have not tested, you do not know either ....
31 May 2017 - 20:12
Peter says:
Finally someone who can say never is never is never. You are so right that when you don't know something, you shouldn't say never. We'll go and show you and then you decide if it would be good.
31 May 2017 - 21:47
Veiken says:
I/We are completely sold on cruises! It is like living in a dream. We have cruised in different parts of the Mediterranean and up to the North Cape from Copenhagen. It must be time soon for a cruise. We choose Royal Caribbean very much because all tips are included in the price. Do not hesitate - GO!
31 May 2017 - 20:13
Peter says:
Thank you Veiken. We will go and show some of the readers here that it might be very nice. We are very excited to do this trip and to write about it. We'll pick up Barcelona and Rome along the way and much more. Time to book again?
31 May 2017 - 21:49
Veiken says:
Have you been to Rome before? I have: Silly question. Stay in the small harbour town of Civitaveccia. A small backpack and good shoes and you'll have a little gem that excursion-hungry passengers miss!

BP says:
I haven't travelled further than Finland either. But I read various blogs that describe the luxury cruises - Ama among others. Don't think it's something for me/us. I think I would be claustrophobic in the confined space, even if it is huge. Also, I don't like "exploring" new places in just a few hours once the boat is docked somewhere. So you have to hurry back. And I don't like the organised excursions that are often arranged on cruises either.
Also, wifi seems to be very expensive too. So, well...
31 May 2017 - 20:45
Peter says:
Haha, faith should be done in church. I read a lot of faith here! You don't have to go on organised excursions, because you can go by yourself if you want. The idea is that it's available and if you don't want to go ashore, you can lie down and swim all day instead. There is a lot to do and I will try everything in the autumn. we have to wait a bit more.
31 May 2017 - 21:53
Marie/ mim says:
My cruises have been of the shorter kind, Trelleborg-Travemunde in the good old days, I think it was day cruises. We thought it was nice, food and dance, a little purchase of some drinks that you did not really have the age to buy at home. Still remember how nervous I was, it rattled around me (jeans vest with rattling buttons), all for 37 cl....
Could imagine going on a cruise in the Mediterranean, as long as it doesn't blow because I don't want to get seasick.
Take care
31 May 2017 - 21:30
Peter says:
What a lovely story with wonderful memories Marie. Now I remember when I bought beer when I didn't know my age, and it was a gamble every time. Sometimes it didn't work, but I was always nervous, haha. I'll give you a good report in September and we'll see what you think. In the Mediterranean, the winds are not as strong as in the Atlantic, so it takes a lot to get seasick there.
31 May 2017 - 21:59
Caroline says:
In the past, I didn't feel any desire for these cruises, but in recent years they have actually aroused my curiosity, especially around the Mediterranean or the Caribbean/Mexico to see the wildlife there.

steel city anna says:
It was no small battle 🙂 I want to go on a cruise to Moominland, it will probably be less luxurious then 🙂 .
