Oh what fun it will be to blog here on this fantastic site and tell you about our trip that we plan to do this summer. I will start with our planning, it is always so exciting to see how it will actually turn out.

So far we have never followed our plan to 100 %. There can be traffic jams, bad weather, broken car tyres, and all sorts of things that have caused us to change our plans along the way. Sometimes it simply feels too far to travel.

Our family

First, I wanted to tell you a little about who we are so you know who you will be following this summer. Our family who is on the trip is my husband Per, his great interest is trucks, especially Scania. It may be that you will see some inspiration from this, we have a number of pennants, lamps etc. in our motorhome.

We have major discussions about the interior of the motorhome and, like everything else in a marriage, we compromise. Per gets to decorate the car part (just right) and I decorate the rest. Then we have Elias 7 years old. A happy and talkative boy who is involved in everything new. He has travelled in a motorhome every year since he was two years old. He knows nothing else in the summer.

Elisabeth

Then I come, Elisabeth, I want travelling to be easy. I read up on everything I come across before we leave. I want smart solutions for most things that make life easier. We have been travelling in a motorhome for 5 years and have been away for 4 weeks in recent years. Including Norway, Denmark, Germany, Poland, Hungary, France, Netherlands, Austria, Liechtenstein, Sweitz, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.

Planning for summer 2017

We have taken a 6 week holiday and will be out all summer. My husband's biggest dream is to take a campervan to Greece!!!

A tip, plan your trip with ViaMichelin, then you can add stopovers and you also get a calculation of the cost. Absolutely brilliant.

This is the plan. We will slowly but surely drive towards Croatia with various sleep stops. We will have a longer stop in Legoland, Ulm, Germany so Elias and the children in the friends' car have something fun to look forward to during the journey down. We imagine that the journey from Åkersberga to Novalja in Croatia will take a week and then we have planned 1 week at camping Strasko and then move on down. A stop in Gradac on the Makarska Riviera with good friends and then we will make our way down as it suits.

There is a lot to keep track of if you intend to go to the countries that are included in the planning, we have ordered a green card from Folksam for the car so check on it in any case.

Sitting with a good cup of coffee and looking forward to the holiday, a list I think I will make, so I don't have to keep everything in my head.

Today's remember list: Getting ready before travelling

  • Fixing a troublesome back door hinge
  • Remove the foot of the old satellite dish (remove unnecessary weight).
  • Fix a new table inside the car (the old one is unnecessarily large and a bit too low for a child's seat).
  • Buy an extra hob (so I can stand outside much more and cook).
  • Switching on the reversing camera
  • Find the GPS, that it can just disappear!!!
  • Make play boxes for Elias so that he doesn't just play games during the car journey.
  • Remind the husband to get an international driving licence (I think it is needed in Albania).
  • Make a smart grocery list (grilled meat and potato salad in all honour, but for 6!! weeks?).
  • Sewing curtains for the sleeping alcove (How can you make curtains that don't cover the entire opening? )
