We try to give others good and thoughtful tips on travel routes, sights and smart packing solutions. When it comes to travelling, it happens at the last second and without any time to plan. Yesterday we started packing four hours before departure. Then we drove without a clue where we would stay for the night.
What should we pack?
This whole spring has been stressful and we really haven't had time to plan. So what should we pack? We figured we'd just have to remember the essentials: passports, credit cards, ferry tickets and so on. Everything else can be sorted out along the way. By chance, it turned out that our European health insurance cards were still valid. How nice!
It was hectic yesterday when we when we started from Pampas marina. We threw everything into the motorhome, drove past ICA to stock up on some basics and food for the road, and off we went. So far I have found one (important!) thing that I forgot: the charger for the camera battery. Let's hope it can be solved!
Where would we stay?
The goal was to get as far as possible. We hadn't given any thought to where we would stop. Only when Peter got tired did we start checking the app. CamperContact. The sites we found were a good distance inland from the E4 motorway and we were not keen to leave our "route". Instead we had to spend the night at Värnamo traffic junction together with a bunch of lorries. Not the most fantastic stop perhaps, but it had to do.
We wish you a nice midsummer!
Now we wish all readers and friends a really nice midsummer! We will not celebrate much ourselves, but we are finally heading south in the motorhome and that is more than enough for us. Today we drive on the ferry from Trelleborg to Swinoujscie in Poland.
Tomorrow you can continue to follow our guest blogger Elisabeth Haug's planning for the family's exciting motorhome trip in Europe to Croatia. Then we will continue the story of our journey.

Mr Frank Olsen says:
Sorry about the camera charger, but if you have time to visit Clas Olson before taking the ferry, they have a universal charger that is much cheaper than the original! UniPal it is called. Recommend the plus edition.
Good trip, we will follow ?

Helena says:
Many thanks for the tips!!! Have checked that there is a Clas Ohlson in Trelleborg so we aim to try to get there.

We went to Clas Ohlson in Trelleborg. They didn't have the exact one you suggested, but they had another one. It will probably be good too! Thanks again for the tip!

Anette Åhnbrink says:
Great that you are on your way! I am a list person and usually keep track of packing, but of course there will be something you forget! The worst was probably when we forgot the ferry tickets, father-in-law had to move out and catch up with us! Lucky we only got to Varberg? It would have been worse to stand down in Italy without the tickets.... roll calmly and have the best?/Anette
23 June 2017 - 8:43
Helena says:
Wow, lucky that my father-in-law could step in!!! Some things are worse to forget than others ... Thank you and have a nice midsummer!

Ama de casa says:
When it came to camping trips (with the tent), we actually had a packing list that we built up because. Then we always went on a test camping in the local area to check that all the most important things were included before we went on a long trip. (When we lived in Sollentuna, the test camping took place at the back of the house - then we could go in if it was wrong 😉 ).
We actually also forgot the charger for the camera on our trip now. But I brought a spare battery (which always lives in my handbag) and there's another one in the underwater camera, so we'll be fine. Hope it works out for you too!
I think travelling without detailed plans is very nice too. Have a good time now - and HAPPY Midsummer! 🙂
23 June 2017 - 9:04
Helena says:
Wow how ambitious with test camping! Now I'm a little impressed 😉 Considering what our car has been through, some test camping would probably have been good, but time has simply run away ... Happy midsummer!

HAPPY AND PLEASANT MIDSUMMER AND TRAVEL!
How often have I experienced unplanned stops, and how cosy it is inside the carriage, even if the traffic is roaring outside.
Nice to follow along a bit of the way 😀.
Stuff?

Helena says:
Luckily it is always cosy inside the motorhome 🙂 Wishing you a really nice midsummer! (Hope my greeting appeared on your blog! Could not see it?)

No, Helena. No greeting. I've checked the junk mail too, nothing. Fy, how boring that is. But the mail is probably heavily loaded in midsummer times 😉 haha. But thanks for the greeting here, then! Hugs!

Matts Torebring says:
That's exactly how we almost always drive. We drive until we get tired. Then we look for a place, usually around one or two hours before midnight. But 149 kilometres in one day is a difficult record to beat and not to be recommended. Then it rocked in the brain, when we stopped. Have a wonderful trip and Happy Midsummer.
23 June 2017 - 11:18
Helena says:
Phew, 149 kilometres in one day sounds sweaty ...! And I agree, it's probably not something to recommend. Wishing you a really nice midsummer!

It feels somehow quite nice to read that you don't always live as you teach;-) However, forgetting the camera battery is not so funny. But you probably have more cameras with you - at least I hope so.
I also like the mascot who gets to go to Poland and the Czech Republic:-)

Haha, no we probably don't .... even if we try 😉 We have fixed the camera battery (I think) with battery chargers from Clas Ohlson in Trelleborg. And yes, Tigris follows all motorhome trips nowadays 😉.
