When you walk through the gates of Cesky Krumlov in the Czech Republic, you have to pinch yourself. Is this really real? Maybe you've stepped into a painting and ended up in a fairytale world? It could be a village in a fantasy film or a Disney story. But no, it really looks like this. This is the real thing!

We don't have time to tell you everything
We experience so much on this motorhome trip around Poland and the Czech Republic, we don't even have time to tell you everything. After the visit to Kutna Hora we rolled to the cool "forest castle" Konopiste. Then we rolled here to Cesky Krumlov!
Unesco World Heritage Site in Cesky Crumlov
The Czech town of Cesky Krumlov is located in the south of the country and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city centre has more than 300 protected buildings and a castle that is the second largest in the Czech Republic after Prague Castle. The Vltava River encircles the centre of the city, where people travel on rubber boats and canoes.
Cosy alleys in Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
Český Krumlov is full of cosy alleyways and it's really hard not to take photos in the just like every other corners. There are lots of restaurants, cafés and small shops selling clothes and crafts. Check out Peter's short film for a bit more of a feel!
Crowds of tourists in Cesky Krumlov
Now, don't think that Cesky Krumlov is a hidden little gem where no other tourists can find it. Quite the contrary! Bus after bus pulls into the large car parks outside the town centre and out pours one busload after another of Asian tourists.
However, although this city could be accused of being a "tourist trap", it is definitely worth a visit. You really understand why tourists want to come here, so to speak. It's not every day you get to stroll around and feel like you're in the middle of a fairy tale!

What nice cities you visit. Hope you make a summary of how it was to get around with FREEDOM, where you parked at night, campsites, parking spaces, how service has been along the road, etc. this would be very interesting for the future. Because what if I also get to drive around to these beautiful cities sometime?
30 June 2017 - 6:31
Helena says:
Yes absolutely, good suggestions! We can try to summarise a bit! We also put all the campsites and pitches we visit under "pitches" in the menu and list all the great destinations and attractions under "travel tips" in the menu.

Thank you very much! 🙂

Anni says:
But this is almost ridiculous - I was there yesterday! What if we were there at the same time! ? It's almost like I have to check if I can be seen in any photo. ?
Added my post about the city etc. last night, but only have mobile phone pictures there, so it will not be as fancy as your post.
The world is indeed small and Cesky Krumlov is a true gem!
30 June 2017 - 8:10
Helena says:
But, how funny that we were there almost at the same time!!! We were not there yesterday, but the day before yesterday. Now I must immediately go in and check your blog 🙂
30 June 2017 - 8:38
Anni says:
We head north tomorrow, but skip the skeleton church this time.
Where are you going now?
30 June 2017 - 9:25
Helena says:
We are just south of Brno and check out some castles and vineyards. Then it will be Brno, maybe some cave we got tips on and then east in the Czech Republic. Wish you a nice trip north!

What a beautiful city.
Will be grateful to receive your summary of the trip, if available.

WOW! What a place! Understand that you were not the only tourists there. So nice!
The thing with selfies... You can really see that it is popular to take them, just everywhere. I've also noticed that in some museums they have banned selfie sticks - people have a tendency to poke the artworks with them... 🙂 ðŸ™'
Have a happy Friday!

Haha, yes it can probably be easy to put down both this and that with those ... We went backwards for a long time and didn't want one, but now we have one anyway ... 😉

Matts Torebring says:
I am impressed by the first picture. I dream of standing on the city wall in Dubrovnic. All red and so beautiful rooftops. Then I am equally impressed by your film, your post and of course the beautiful city. This is something that I myself can sit with at home on a rainy autumn evening. You do it every day. I often wonder how you have the time and energy? When you have fun, you can do a lot. I, and many people with me, enjoy and read. Have a good trip.
30 June 2017 - 9:35
Helena says:
Yes, it's true that you have a lot of time and energy when it's fun 🙂 Of course it takes time to take photos, film and write, but that's also what we want to do 😉.
30 June 2017 - 15:32
Ditte says:
What a nice city and with so much preserved from old times. Understand that there is a lot here to see and experience and you need time to take in all the beauty you see.
Great pictures and film! And fun to come along to the Czech Republic.
30 June 2017 - 9:39
Helena says:
Yes, you need time to see everything nice and interesting! Would love to have more time than we have 😉.
30 June 2017 - 16:21
Mr Anders Liljevall says:
I have heard that there is a preserved opera in C. Krumlov Castle that is considered almost as strange as the one at Drottningholm.
27 January 2020 - 20:47
Monet says:
Oh so nice city! Just wanted to say a bit about the technology. I have IpadPro and can't spin around and see the films in 360 degrees. Do not know what it depends on. Then I like to look at the video snippets but am completely horrified by the very loud sound, but above all I am completely dizzy that the clips are so extremely short and come in such a fast pace after each other. In fact, I can't keep up and would like to have more time for each beautiful clip! I'm glad Freedom is doing well!
30 June 2017 - 9:52
Helena says:
In an iPad, you spin around the image by lifting the entire iPad and spinning it around yourself. This should work. If it doesn't, it has to do with settings or updates or something in your iPad, impossible for us to know. What browser are you using? You can lower the volume of the films by lowering the volume of the sound on your iPad. Of course, we listen to your views on fast clips. It's a bit difficult sometimes when everyone thinks differently, but I think there may have been extra fast cuts in this particular film.
30 June 2017 - 16:26
Monet says:
By sound, I mean that it is very loud from the start and you have to press the volume button to turn it down. But that varies from clip to clip all over the web. Will try to spin around me. But I think I am as updated as I can be, have a brand new IpadPro, larger model so it is a bit heavy to dance around with?

Snows says:
Looks to be a very cute and nice town that I understand attracts a lot of tourists. We haven't seen much in the Czech Republic so maybe you should drive around and discover more of the country...?
30 June 2017 - 9:54
Helena says:
There is a lot to see and experience in the Czech Republic! 🙂
30 June 2017 - 16:27
Anna, New York - My Bite of the Big Apple says:
What a beautiful city! Really like a fairy tale. I was there on a conference trip about 15 years ago. I didn't feel that there were many tourists at all, but it's not surprising if it has changed since then.
Unfortunately, I can't see the 360-degree photo. It is only black on my computer. What could be the reason for this? It was the same the other day.
30 June 2017 - 9:56
Helena says:
Glad you've been in this city too! How strange that you can't see the 360 photo? What kind of browser do you have? Can you see other 360 photos?
30 June 2017 - 16:29
Anna, New York - My Bite of the Big Apple says:
I have not been able to see any of your 360 photos on my computer lately. Using different browsers but on this occasion I think it was Chrome or Firefox. It worked on my mobile phone though! (Safari.)
01 July 2017 - 9:39
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
You just line up one gem after another. I think this is my kind of city, it would probably be a photo on our street corner! (Just curious: what software do you use for your video clips?).
30 June 2017 - 10:33
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Forget my stupid question. Didn't know about iMovie because we don't have a Mac. Apparently there is something similar for PC.
30 June 2017 - 11:03
Helena says:
Yes exactly, Peter uses iMovie. Yes, I think there is something similar for PC, but don't know what it's called unfortunately.
30 June 2017 - 16:32
Ninny says:
It looks really cosy! So nice!
And so much fun with an exciting 😉 film, it will be a completely different experience than pictures!
When the children were young, we used to film a lot with a video camera. All the car holidays we took are on film. Unfortunately, we can't watch them, so we have to get out the old video camera with cables or, for the very oldest films, an old video recorder packed away in the storage room...
But last year my husband bought a Go-Pro camera, so now we are filming a lot again, fun!
Have a nice trip!
30 June 2017 - 14:00
Helena says:
I think it's fun to mix image and film. But certainly it is a bit tricky with old films when you used completely different technology ... Fun with the gopro camera! 🙂
30 June 2017 - 16:35
Anita Malta says:
Imagine how many little gems there are on the world map that I have never heard of. Like Český Krumlov! What a fantastic journey you are on, so many experiences that will later become great memories.
We usually travel outside Europe but feel that it is time to rethink, there are so many nice places closer to home and a motorhome is an excellent way to get around. Lasse has had a motorhome before we met and has driven a lot with his then family through Europe. But it was a very long time ago, almost 30 years ago! 😕
Now I will look back at what you have been through since the last time I looked in here, probably a lot.
Wishing you a continued wonderful and adventurous journey 🙂 .
30 June 2017 - 14:56
Helena says:
Europe has so much to offer! And yes, a motorhome is really a convenient way to get around. Glad to hear that Lasse also tried the motorhome life! 🙂

What amazing pictures of the most picturesque town/village I have ever seen. Oh, until now I had never heard of Český Krumlov... No wonder Asians - probably Japanese - flock there.
By the way, it's nice that Anni has found your blog. I commented on one of her posts with a link to your blog. Small world - now I can read two blogs with posts about the Czech Republic:-)
30 June 2017 - 17:48

Glad you like the pictures! It was a grateful city to photograph if you say so 😉 And very fun that Anni was in the same city almost at the same time! (I have found her blog sometimes, but not followed it regularly).
