Saturday and guest blog with Elisabeth Haug
Saturday morning. At 9.00 we are ready just as planned, we meet Magnus and Terese at the petrol station and start our journey. It flows well, have lunch in Ödeshög and have then travelled about 29 miles. We drive further down to Helsingborg. Take the ferry Helsingborg-Helsingör and stand at Camping Nivå, just south of Helsingör. 62 mil this day.

Through Denmark and Germany
Sunday, travelling on through Denmark, taking the Rödby-Puttgarden ferry and driving towards Hamburg. From experience we know that there is usually a queue around Hamburg so our goal for the day was to get past, it would be so nice to wake up and know that we are south of Hamburg. It went beyond expectations.
We drove on, not dangerous with queues and stayed overnight at a parking place, Solebadstrasse in Bad Salzdetfurth, south of Hanover. It was a mile from the A7, in the longest team I think, no toilet or so but large places and electricity. Cost 5 euros and then 1 euro for 6 hours of electricity. It is affordable.
Legoland in Germany
On Monday we travelled to Legoland in Ulm, Germany. It went beyond expectations, nice kids in both cars and some queues. We stood still for an hour but it could have been worse. Checked in and ready before dinner and the evening was very cosy. For entry for two adults and one child and two nights at the campsite, the party cost 190 euros.
Tuesday at Legoland was great. There were many carousels and Elias managed to get his driving licence. The thing was that the lesson was in German and then Elias got a card next to him that he had to read in Swedish. He hasn't started first grade yet, but it's good that he can read. In any case, he was happy and satisfied.
We stayed at Legoland on Wednesday morning and rode the carousels hard. The advantage of running games in the morning is that the kids are happy in the car for the next long session. We continued from Legoland to a fantastic campsite in Austria.
Real estate site Jausenstation Schauphof
Here you stand for free if you eat at the restaurant (3 euros for electricity). The hosts were very nice. The gentleman was very talkative and happy to share his life. He had been an alpine police officer for 40 years and a bodyguard for Helmut Kohl and also for the Austrian government. He showed pictures and was very proud of this. When he retired, he decided to become a farmer and open a small guesthouse.
There were sheep and cows at the restaurant, a dog named Marlene lay under our table and got to eat the leftovers. Alps, schnitzel, good beer and good friends, hard to beat that 🙂 In the morning they got up and opened up so that we could use the toilets before we would go on. Here we will stay again!
From Austria to Croatia
Jaaaa, the heat is here and so are we 🙂 Have forgotten HOW hot it is, got out of the car and got a little shock. It is so hot. It takes some time for me to get used to it but it always goes. We went from Austria and the goal was Pag but did not expect to come down in one day. It went so smoothly that we drove on. We arrived around eight o'clock and picked up everything and then we just had to enjoy it.
We ended up on a road in Slovenia that was the shortest but that was also the only good thing about it. It took a long time and was not very good. But when we got to Croatia, the roads were great.
Summary of the run
- Saturday: Åkersberga - Nivå in Denmark = 61.5 miles
- Sunday: Nivå, Denmark - Salzdetfurth 55 miles
- Monday: Salzdetfurt - Legoland 50 miles
- Wednesday: Legoland - Flachau, Austria 33 miles
- Thursday: Flachau - Novalja, Pag 44 miles
Åkersberga - Pag, Croatia = 243,5 miles. Was run in 5 days but stood still one day so total from Saturday to Thursday.
Arriving in Croatia
Yes, the first stage was completed. We have travelled through 5 countries and had 4 stops on the way down. Now we are sitting at Camping Strasko at 24.00. It is 24 degrees and it feels good that it has become a little cooler. The journey has started as well as it can start. We are travelling with good friends, the Mattinson family, and we are having a great time together. The children are playing, enjoying and having a free life. To hear the children: mum which country are we going to sleep in tonight? Well, that will be fun. 🙂
Elias is learning languages, dealing with situations and becoming extremely worldly. Spending 24 hours a day together is absolutely wonderful, a reward after a year of work and planning. See you next week. Then we have travelled around the island and will tell you about excursion destinations etc. 🙂

Mr Frank Olsen says:
This sounds like a great start to your holiday? Enjoy your holiday and welcome to Greece when you get there. But on the way down I would recommend Mostar and Blagaj in Bosnia, the coast of Albania south of Durres and Camping PaEmer, and the area around Lake Ohrid in Macedonia (FYROM). Have a good trip !

Thank you very much for all the tips Frank. I will probably hear from you eventually, if it goes well? It's so good when you can get tips from others 🙂.
Do you have your motorhome with you now or have you flown down?
Now we are enjoying ourselves a lot here and slowly but surely we are coming down 🙂 .

Eisabeth, of course it's fine ? And I have lots of tips ! We have sold the motorhome now, we are concentrating on renting out holiday apartments. But we have a car here that we drove down in the beginning of May. Maybe we'll drive it back to Norway and maybe we'll fly, we'll see.

The first thing I noticed was that everyone had taken their shoes off.
to have dinner outdoors. "It is probably only Swedes who are
so careful about their floors", I thought. It really looks like fun,
for me at least. 🙂
Fun to travel together and with the kids in more or less ...
the same age group. Sounds like you've had a great time so far, and more...
it will be.

You've really "gone all out" and come a long way. Very nice pictures that show where you have been. Oh the schnitzel is slightly larger than the ones you get here if you say so;-)
