Now we are home in the houseboat again. Or well, it's actually only me who is home. Peter has already left! In any case, I am enjoying the summer heat in the marina and thought I would update you on our upcoming travel plans. Because of course we have new exciting things going on!
Table of contents
Work, houseboat life and Ringsö
I have started work again, and when I'm not at work I hang out in the houseboat in our cosy marina. Peter, on the other hand, only had one day at home before he left for the island. Ring island in Lake Mälaren for two weeks to help our friends Lennart and Beata build on their log house. This is how long we have actually never been apart since we met twelve years ago ... but I'm going to visit this weekend!
Adventures in Switzerland
The next trip is to Switzerland in early August. You may recall that we won this trip by dancing the Small Frogs in the centre of Stockholm on the Nordic Travel Blog Event at Sheraton in June? Now we'll be a whole group of people experiencing the country for five days. We haven't received the programme yet, so I don't know any details, but I have a feeling it's going to be really good!
"Schwedenfest" in Wismar
Shortly after Switzerland, it's time to roll the campervan to the great Sweden party in Wismar. This German city once belonged to Sweden and is celebrated every year with much fanfare and around 100,000 revellers. Cool, isn't it?
What is also cool is that we will be 12 motorhomes rolling together. Most of them we have never met before, and it will be very fun to meet! For those of you who are going, I can tell you that I have been working on a "programme" with information about ferries, camping, what happens during the festival, etc. You will receive it as soon as Peter has had time to check and approve!
Cruise in the Mediterranean
In September, we have long planned to go on a one-week cruise in the Mediterranean with the cruise ship "Freedom of the Seas". Appropriate name, right?
As usual on the blog
By the way, we have some standing themes on the blog that we will continue with. Monday's and Friday's theme we will only stick to if we are at home. On Saturdays you can follow our guest blogger, whether we are at home or out in the world:
- Mondays: FREEDOMtravel News with this week's travel, camping and digital news.
- Fridays: Happy Friday with personal and positive stories from the week
- Saturdays: Guest blog with Elisabeth Haug about the family's motorhome adventures in Europe and Croatia. Right now I'm wondering how their broken fridge is doing in the 35-degree heat...?
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Great plans! The Schwedenfesten in Wismar we would have liked to attend, but the holiday weeks were unfortunately already booked this time. Seafood is never wrong and we hope to enjoy some of them this weekend when we visit friends in Kungshamn-Smögen.
20 July 2017 - 6:17
Helena says:
Yes, that's the thing about the holiday weeks ... I have a hard time getting mine to be enough too 😉 Hope you have a wonderful time in Kungshamn and Smögen!!!!

Good luck on the caravan trip. Looking forward to hearing from you during it! I love your drive and focus! And in the middle of it, you have time to "work" as if not everything now creates is just that! Wooooom o hugs
20 July 2017 - 7:37

Johanna in Skåne says:
Fun travel plans! Switzerland is beautiful! Did you get my mms from Tylösand? We visited most of the places you wrote about when we passed Halmstad on Tuesday ? Also knocked on, but your mum was not there, tell her!
20 July 2017 - 8:15
Helena says:
Oh have you been to Tylösand!? What fun! No, I didn't get a text message. Maybe you don't have the right number? Too bad mum wasn't home, maybe she's gone to Stockholm now. I'll tell her!
20 July 2017 - 13:20
Johanna in Skåne says:
I texted the number you have on the "contact us" page, I don't have your number in the system after changing my phone... Sending you my messenger?
21 July 2017 - 8:21
Johanna in Skåne says:
Oops, you weren't there, I invited you? My number is the one that starts with 0703 of those on my name on eniro (the others go to the children).
21 July 2017 - 8:24
Helena says:
I'm on Messenger but still received an invitation to Messenger. Funny? The number on the contact us page goes to Peter. Maybe he forgot to tell me (he's working on an island in Lake Mälaren).

Dryden - Traveller's Edition says:
Looking forward to the Switzerland posts, although it may be a spoiler for my own trip there in September 🙂 .
20 July 2017 - 8:41
Helena says:
Haha yes, or they come up with different programmes? Are you travelling alone or with someone else?
20 July 2017 - 13:21
Kenneth Risberg says:
Was just wondering if you have time to "unwind" between shipyards, Switzerland, Wismar, cruising, work and blog. You have a fantastic commitment to what you do and seafood is never wrong.
Looking forward to the Wismar programme.
I am sitting in the motorhome in the marina in Valdemarsvik. Will take a bike ride out to Gryt and Fyrudden later today.
Then it will be Söderköping and then Norsholm, both on the Göta Canal.
In August it will be Mora/Sälen for Cykel Vasan 90 km and the week after Wismar and in between some consulting work. Can probably start to enjoy the retirement life.
20 July 2017 - 8:58
Helena says:
Well, you have a point there Kenneth. We don't really have time to unwind .... It is wise to say that you should take it easy sometimes, but not always easy to fulfil. I can't cut down on my job. And travelling and blogging ... it's so much fun! 😉
We have also been to Valdemarsvik at some point. And by the way, it sounds like you also have a lot to do! 😉
20 July 2017 - 13:49
Kenneth Risberg says:
Haha, but is it funny?
20 July 2017 - 17:45
GlobetrotterElisa says:
So exciting plans ahead then 🙂 Switzerland is absolutely fantastic (especially if you like high mountains like me... 😉 ). Have a good summer 🙂 .
20 July 2017 - 9:13
Helena says:
We have never been to Switzerland, so it will be exciting! Have a great time!
20 July 2017 - 15:26
Evy Knoph says:
Ohhhh fun... I am most jealous of the Mediterranean cruise! Am soooo hungry for one..was sold on the concept after our Caribbean cruise in early 16. Right now in Warsaw for the DepecheMode concert tomorrow :-). Poland delivers, a very practical country... Have a continued wonderful summer!
20 July 2017 - 9:15
Helena says:
Caribbean cruise sounds awesome! We have never been on a cruise, but I look forward to it! Seems like a very relaxed way to travel !!!! And fun that you are in Poland now 🙂 Hope it blur a really good Depeche concert !!!!
20 July 2017 - 15:28
Johnny Friskilä says:
Good luck with everything! Those crayfish look wonderful and Freedom of the Seas doesn't sound bad either. I myself am now in Västra Götaland and look around a bit. You do not only have to be in Kyrgyzstan. 😉
20 July 2017 - 9:47
Helena says:
Haha, it's good that you get to see some of the world outside of Kyrgyzstan Johnny! 🙂
20 July 2017 - 15:29
Lennart says:
Nice to have a lot going on!
20 July 2017 - 9:53
Ditte says:
Fun with a lot going on and certainly both Switzerland, Wismar and em cruise in the Mediterranean will be nice. Switzerland is really a "pleasure flight" and not least in terms of nature. A cruise in the Mediterranean is a convenient way to travel and you get to see and experience a lot.
And travel plans are fun. Even in our house they are starting to take shape with a little bit of everything. But we leave a lot for spontaneous trips because we have the time.
20 July 2017 - 10:10
Helena says:
Spontaneous trips are not bad either! Not as easy to be spontaneous when you have work and holiday times to fit in 😉.
20 July 2017 - 15:43
Mr Steve says:
A cosy evening together at home on the boat was also included. So soon it will be time for new adventures. I am so used to seeing you travelling that I consider it normal now.
20 July 2017 - 10:52
Helena says:
Haha, yes, we probably also see it as normal that we are spinning around 😉.
20 July 2017 - 15:44
åsa in åsele says:
Welcome home 🙂 Must feel empty without Peter.
If you are used to spending a lot of time together, the absence will be felt.
On Sunday we go out with a caravan 🙂
20 July 2017 - 13:58
Helena says:
Yes, it is a bit empty, but there is not much to do at the moment 😉 Great that you go out with the caravan! Where does the tour go?
20 July 2017 - 15:45
Lena - good for the soul says:
So, you have such a lovely living environment!!!
Hug Lena
20 July 2017 - 18:28

Matts Torebring says:
I was so distressed when a close relative said to me: "Why should you go away, why can't you be at home"? You are really good at travelling. I hope to do more travelling myself in the future.
20 July 2017 - 20:38
Helena says:
Some people like to stay at home and that's ok, but there's no reason to question that others like to travel ...!
20 July 2017 - 22:10
Family trekking says:
Ohh sounds good with Switzerland...and the party in Germany...and also the cruise! And even just being in the houseboat sounds very exotic! For us it is only Switzerland that applies until next spring!
20 July 2017 - 21:36
Helena says:
Oh, yes, I see that it says "Bern" on your "current location"! Do you live there now ... work there?
20 July 2017 - 22:11
BP says:
What a lovely "feast" you had before the "separation"! Wonderful!
You certainly have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. It's so nice to split up your holiday, instead of taking all the weeks at once. Then the summer is longer and you get more lasting impressions. In addition, it feels good to go on holiday when most people have started working again;-)
20 July 2017 - 21:45
Helena says:
That's exactly how I feel! It's great to have holidays and travel left! I also think it's quite nice to work in the summer. I had planned for it so I have some writing jobs that need to be done. Really nice to do it in peace and quiet. It is soooo quiet in the office if you say so 😉.
20 July 2017 - 22:12
Marianne - Glimpses of the world says:
Great to have summer, sun and travel plans! I'm enjoying the summer heat at home in Oslo at the moment - working until half past three and living the lazy life the rest of the day. The city is so quiet at the moment, it's like I'm on holiday in my own city even though I'm not on holiday now in July.
20 July 2017 - 22:55
Helena says:
I recognise that! I like working in the summer, because in a way it still feels like you're free. And the summer evenings are long and bright...!

What exciting plans you have ahead of you! Switzerland will be great, and a cruise with Freedom of the Seas is perfect for you. 😉
I myself have had a Norway summer until now, but am travelling abroad again at the end of August to Cyprus and Northern Italy. Looking forward to it, but when the weather is good here at home, it is very nice to just be here too 🙂 .
Have a good summer! 😀

In addition to the fact that it is super fun for you with all the trips, I think it is extra fun to read about the plans and routines with posts. Think that I can go in like that on such a thing 🙂

OnTrip.com says:
What exciting travel plans you have. I look forward to reading about what a cruise is like. We have often talked about that we one day want to try it. It will be fun if you can entice us to do it 😉.
