This week has been a bit different because Peter and I have been apart, and we're not used to that. I'm at home working and Peter is building a log house on an island in Lake Mälaren. So what's "Happy" about that?
Nothing really, but I can still enjoy the beauty of the Karlberg Canal and Lake Karlberg when I walk to and from work. We also hope to see each other this weekend. But it all depends on a certain boat and a certain boat engine ...
Some everyday exercise
I am incredibly happy that I can walk to work. Right now my Facebook feed is flooded with people showing off how they work out on beaches and jog on holiday abroad. I'm really cheering on all these good people, but also feeling a bit guilty because we haven't exercised for ages. At least it feels good to be able to walk to and from work! How are you doing? Do you get any exercise or everyday exercise in the summer?
Nice walking path
As well as being good for exercise, I really appreciate the nice walking route to my job! I start in Pampas marina in Solna where we live, cross the bridge to Kungsholmen and follow the Karlberg Canal all the way until it's time to turn up to my workplace on Fleminggatan.
Here is a small photo gallery from the walk route. Feel free to check what the same route looked like my first day at this job in February this year!
Hope to see you
So Peter is helping our friends Lennart and Beata to continue the construction of their summer house at Ringsö in Lake Mälaren. As you can see in the picture, the house is fairly finished on the outside - but inside there is virtually nothing. The plan is that he will be there for two weeks, and the idea has always been that I will come there this weekend and visit. But ... now Lennart and Beata's boat has broken down!
When you live on an island, you depend on a boat to transport you between the island and the mainland. A new boat engine has been ordered and it shall come tomorrow, but you don't know until you see it. Fingers crossed that I get out to Ringsö this weekend! How has your week been? What has been most positive?

Nice summer pictures of recognisable places.
I usually cycle to work in the summer so it is 2.5 mil per day. On holidays we often hike, now that we are in Västerbottensfjällen we have hiked and camped but the weather was and is changing to say the least. Still waiting for the hot summer!
Let's hope for sunny days in Wismar.

It will be really good exercise with the bike every day! What a good habit!!! Go, go! 🙂 And also the hike of course! The weather has been up and down this year, to say the least, but right now it is nice. And of course we hope for nice weather in Wismar!

Really beautiful walkway and nice place for the houseboat. There is a lot of nice nature in Sweden too.
My everyday exercise usually consists of a 6-7 km long walk, preferably in the morning. But now it will be cycling (MTB) and training for the bike race in August. Trying to keep me around 3 - 4 miles per time to give some endurance.
Hope it works out with the boat and engine for the weekend!!!

Helena says:
Wow, well done! Getting into routines for everyday exercise is the best thing! And the bike wash sounds tough! 🙂

Surely it is a favour to have water around you. I enjoy it daily and in all seasons.
When it comes to exercise, it's all about walking and I walk between 5km and one mile/day. I couldn't imagine locking myself in a gym and walking on a "treadmill". I think that the daily exercise with fresh air is the one that does the most good. I often walk around Söder and then I walk the whole mile along the water, really cosy.
I understand that you enjoy your walk to and from work, very beautiful. I look at Karlberg and smile, having lived and played there as a child.
Keep your fingers crossed that the mptor comes so you can get out to the island in Lake Mälaren.

I also think that walking is good! Above all, I think the exercise that happens and that you get routine is good! 😉

Mr Steve says:
After walking that path, you should come to work every day fully energised.
My daily exercise consists of going downstairs and out to the electric mop. Not much, but I'm happy as long as it works.
Cosy cottage Peter is helping to build. Hope the boat engine comes as promised.

Helena says:
Yes, that's a good way to start, I think! Then I often sit still at a desk ... And you should do what you can! A little movement is a big difference from no movement!

Beautiful route you have to work and great start to the day.
Let's hope that all fingers are crossed that you make it to the island.

It's nice to have some everyday exercise and fresh air in the morning. I don't have your lovely surroundings and it only takes 20 minutes to get to the station, but anything is better than nothing when you have a job within four walls. Then we get long walks during our rounds of golf a couple of days a week. (However, a guilty conscience calls for a little more "fluffy" exercise).
21 July 2017 - 17:47
Helena says:
A 20-minute walk in each direction isn't so bad after all! And golf is also good! But I recognise that slightly bad conscience ... right now it's not much more than walking for me ...

Husis blog says:
It really is a luxury to live in a big city, to live as you do, to be so close to work. To also have such a lovely walk with those surroundings must also be part of that.
Sometimes you don't realise how good you have it until a lot of further reflection.
The owners have probably been apart for a week at most. It is all an "ordeal", but imagine how happy they will be when they can meet again. So I hope you get to meet this weekend so that it won't be a fortnight without being able to meet.
21 July 2017 - 18:50
Helena says:
It is important to think sometimes and remind yourself of what you have and should be grateful for, so you don't take things for granted! And yes, the advantage of being apart can be that it is fun to see each other later! 🙂

You'd think you were in a holiday paradise if you didn't know where you live;-) The morning walk is much more appealing this time of year too, so to speak.
Now I hope that the boat engine arrives in time so that you can go over to your Peter and your friends, and then it will be a Happy Saturday then - for you:-).
What has been most positive for me this week is clearly the European Championship in football for women. The championship kind of compensates for the shitty weather:-)
21 July 2017 - 21:39
Helena says:
I'm not interested in football, so I've missed that too ... But through the blog world you keep yourself updated on everything 😉.

I think everyday exercise is the best! We swim in the pool every day, sometimes in the sea (throwing a ball in the waves is the best exercise!). When school starts, we walk with our son in the morning and afternoon. It's perfect!
Going and waiting for an engine sounds like that ... Can't you throw away the houseboat and go to Peter!? No, I know it's not really made for that but it would be something, he'd be surprised!
21 July 2017 - 22:12
Helena says:
Throwing a ball in the waves sounds like good (and nice!) exercise! And haha, they would be very surprised if I put a big outboard motor on the houseboat and came over to the island in it... 😉.
