Summer at the Karlberg Canal (and hope to see you)

This week has been a bit different because Peter and I have been apart, and we're not used to that. I'm at home working and Peter is building a log house on an island in Lake Mälaren. So what's "Happy" about that?

Nothing really, but I can still enjoy the beauty of the Karlberg Canal and Lake Karlberg when I walk to and from work. We also hope to see each other this weekend. But it all depends on a certain boat and a certain boat engine ...

Some everyday exercise

I am incredibly happy that I can walk to work. Right now my Facebook feed is flooded with people showing off how they work out on beaches and jog on holiday abroad. I'm really cheering on all these good people, but also feeling a bit guilty because we haven't exercised for ages. At least it feels good to be able to walk to and from work! How are you doing? Do you get any exercise or everyday exercise in the summer?

Nice walking path

As well as being good for exercise, I really appreciate the nice walking route to my job! I start in Pampas marina in Solna where we live, cross the bridge to Kungsholmen and follow the Karlberg Canal all the way until it's time to turn up to my workplace on Fleminggatan.

Here is a small photo gallery from the walk route. Feel free to check what the same route looked like my first day at this job in February this year!

When the canal widens, it is probably called "Karlbergssjön". On the other side you can see Karlberg Castle and Vasastan.

Here I have folded up from the canal on my way to work. This is 7 minutes from T-Centralen - quiet, calm and plenty of squirrels!

Hope to see you

So Peter is helping our friends Lennart and Beata to continue the construction of their summer house at Ringsö in Lake Mälaren. As you can see in the picture, the house is fairly finished on the outside - but inside there is virtually nothing. The plan is that he will be there for two weeks, and the idea has always been that I will come there this weekend and visit. But ... now Lennart and Beata's boat has broken down!

When you live on an island, you depend on a boat to transport you between the island and the mainland. A new boat engine has been ordered and it shall come tomorrow, but you don't know until you see it. Fingers crossed that I get out to Ringsö this weekend! How has your week been? What has been most positive?
