Finally Friday and time for "Happy Friday"! The most positive aspect of our week has been getting through the first week of training. These new good intentions may be jeopardised by next week's trip to Switzerland, but we will do our best to stick to our new habits...!
Table of contents
A good first week of training
The absolute best thing this week is that we realised our ambition to start exercising again. In addition to walking back and forth to my job, we have managed to run four sessions with Tapout XT. Next week we have a wine tasting and raclette in Switzerland, which makes things a bit more adventurous, but luckily we will be hiking and cycling too!
By the way, thanks for all the comments on exercise and health yesterday! We agree that exercise should be done in moderation, and that the goal is to feel good. For our part, we feel that we feel much better when we exercise, and when we haven't done it for a long time, we long for that feeling ...!
Summer in Stockholm
This summer will hardly be remembered as particularly warm and sunny, but it's still summer. Whether you're on holiday or working, you can enjoy all the great things Stockholm has to offer.
We have enjoyed the walks along Lake Karlber (which is full of ducklings right now) and I have also enjoyed a nice lunch with my colleagues at Mälar Pavilion. This restaurant is really nice on the waterfront on the Norr Mälarstrand walkway - perfect for hanging out on a nice summer day!
Farewell to our ladder
This is not so "happy" perhaps, but we still end today's post by saying goodbye to our construction ladder. We have now learnt that not should leave it on the bridge when you go in, not even for a little while. Without warning, a bunch of fresh winds came and then we had no ladder anymore. Considering that it is eight metres deep, there is no point in looking for it ... But at least it was lucky that Peter had finished painting!
Your turn!
What has been the best part of your week?

Annette says:
How nice with the baby birds! Seeing them while walking would make me happy too. But then I love birds too. So much so that when we were in Monet's garden at the end of our trip to France, the fantastic flower garden, the beautiful house and the nice pond were completely overshadowed... for a little baby sooty monkey that climbed around on the water lily leaves 😉 The best thing this week has been to come home to all our animals and see that everyone is doing well and that the chickens have grown twice as big. And to sort and edit 2000 pictures, and to already feel like a new journey 🙂 .

Helena says:
Of course the ducklings are beautiful! And in general, it makes you happy to see all the ducklings, I think 🙂 It's good that the animals are doing well and editing pictures is always a pleasure ... even if it can be time-consuming 😉.

Across the board says:
When you're going to Switzerland, exercise is no problem - just run up and down some alps 😀.
Lovely walkway you have, it makes you happy. The best part of the week is that I started working 50% and it is working well.
Have a great weekend!
04 August 2017 - 7:15
Helena says:
Haha, well after the racket we will have to take a trip up an alp ... 😉 Great that it worked well to start working 50 %!

Mr Steve says:
Great job with the training.
Habits are meant to be broken, otherwise they can become habits.
Lessons learnt cost money. This time a construction ladder.
04 August 2017 - 7:20
Helena says:
Yes, it's true that lessons are expensive! We know neighbours who have lost bicycles and expensive sunglasses and other things, so it was our turn ... 😉.

Lennart says:
Stockholm is a great summer city!
04 August 2017 - 7:34
Helena says:
I can only agree 🙂

Kenneth Risberg says:
Sorry about the steps but good job with the training.
Which may be jeopardised by the trip to Switzerland but it's probably nothing compared to what it will be in Wismar...
Then I have done the centre of the Vasalopps trail.
Wishing you a nice weekend!
04 August 2017 - 7:51
Helena says:
Haha, maybe it is 😉 Good luck on the trail!!!!

Lena - good for the soul says:
So nice to get out like that so you just want to lie down and "die" for a while!
My contribution to Happy Friday is that I had a great first week of holiday!

Helena says:
Yes, this is usually the case when we have trained! I always have to lie down and relax for a while before I can get into the shower 😉 Wishing you a continued nice holiday!

Goatfish says:
You work well with the training, almost so I get a little guilty conscience, haha, wrote in the last post about everything I did BEFORE, but you should be in the NOW, haha.
So easy to follow the opposing team when it comes to the slightest bit of back pain.
Happy Friday, you inspire me 😀.
04 August 2017 - 8:40
Helena says:
Remember that we have only been training for a week, before that we had a break of about six months 😉 Do not have a bad conscience! Feel what feels good for you!

Hasse says:
Come on Peter, get on the bike and the ladder will be right where it was just now, well trained ... enjoy Fridays!!!!
04 August 2017 - 10:07
Helena says:
Haha, yes, right? That would be something ... 😉 ...

åsa in åsele says:
At first I thought someone had come by and stolen the ladder... thought that yes yes in Stockholm everything happens 😉 talk about preconceived ideas about 08a country 😀.
Glad the first week of training went off without a hitch,
then you can just continue after you come back from Switzerland 🙂 .
Exercise is important for our health and fitness is a perishable commodity.
Here in Norrland, the summer has so far been a mediocre event 😉.
04 August 2017 - 11:16
Helena says:
Haha, yes, prejudices are easy to have 😉 But my prejudice that it always snows in Norrland was not just a prejudice haha... 😉.

Ditte says:
Too bad about the ladder, but Peter has practised some diving so maybe it can work... But you learn. Nice that the painting was finished. Of course, Stockholm is a beautiful city, all year round, but especially summer and spring. I still think we have had decent weather and there have been quite a few dinners out on the balcony and we have no roof on it but depend on the weather. But August is still there and more nice days are coming. Mälarpaviljobgen is cosy and we hung out there one evening. Nice with your daily exercise and certainly you feel good about moving. Absolutely!
04 August 2017 - 12:26
Helena says:
Yes, the weather has been "decent", but not much more. Hot sometimes during the day, but cool evenings. No real such "heat" as it can be sometimes ... but on the other hand, the summer is not over yet 😉.

Solan says:
8 metres deep! I had no idea. We ourselves missed an X for a motorhome on the Gotland boat. However, came along as a standby a little crosswise! Have fun in the expensive cheese country ?
04 August 2017 - 14:09
Helena says:
Yes, it's deep here. They say it's eight metres on the inside of the piers and 12 on the outside ... Oops, missed a cross ... drama! Lucky you got a place anyway! 🙂 Are you on Gotland now then? We hope everything is fine?
04 August 2017 - 18:05
Solan says:
Well, now we are back in Budgetbromma!

Husis blog says:
Replace tapout with Swiss mountains and you'll probably get some exercise then too... ?
The first week is probably always the worst, before the breathing has started. After that, training can become like a positive compulsion.
Sorry about the ladder, it must have been a strong gust of wind that caught it.
04 August 2017 - 16:10
Helena says:
Of course the training gets easier with time, but I think it easily takes more than a week ... And yes, we will try to go to the Swiss Alps! 😉
04 August 2017 - 18:06
Motorhome Helge says:
Regardless of how long you've taken a break from training, it's great that your body allows you to start again.
But what bad luck with the ladder, it's hardly the sort of thing you think the wind can do.
Have a good trip to Switzerland

BP says:
Hahaha! Like the header picture - you Helena looks a bit overworked if you say so;-)
Your pictures of the morning walk are really nice - what a setting in the middle of a capital city. And I'm impressed that you knew it was a coot, I wouldn't have known that.
Worried about the ladder, but you always learn the hard way;-)

Matts Torebring says:
You describe nature so well with beautiful pictures, there lies the best of exercise and enjoyment. Unfortunately, I have neglected walking every day this summer. Although we have cycled a lot. I have never been to a gym myself. Follow me to the steep slopes in "Jularpssogen", I usually say.
