Yesterday it was finally time for us to leave for Trelleborg, where we would meet up with the group of motorhomes going to Wismar in the evening. It was just that I had to work first. So we had a long drive ahead of us after the end of the working day ...
South on the roads
We have been busy lately and haven't had time for much preparation, except for important things like bookings and such. Fortunately, packing is fairly routine. Peter threw our suitcases into the motorhome and picked me up outside work at quarter past three in the afternoon. Then it was just to roll south! The drive went on at a good and fast pace, with only a quick stop at McDonalds.
Emerging in the dark
Of course, it got darker and darker as we drove and when we entered Skåne, the landscape was covered in thick magical fog (which unfortunately was difficult to capture in pictures). When we finally rolled into the car park in Trelleborg, it was pitch black and packed with motorhomes.
But at the caravan park there are actually staff well into the night who help to guide you in the right direction! We met some of the other (super nice!) motorhome drivers and the others we hope to meet this morning. Now we will take the morning ferry to Rostock!

I recognise it, from all our trips to the south. Working until five or five-thirty and then driving at least 50 kilometres to Denmark. Once all the way to Nyborg, first finding a space and then parking in pitch black darkness. That's the limit for us. You are even worse, you sit down and then blog too. I can't do that. Have a nice trip!

Helena says:
Yes, you definitely recognise this ...! And the blogging was not so advanced this time 😉.

Gone are the days of rushing off. But McDonalds when can eat in the motorhome. McDonalds is WiFi place for me abroad for not eating.

Of course it is good to eat in the car. We hadn't had time to load any food (and besides, our fridge doesn't work on gas right now...)

The owners follow you via the blog. My owners are like you, the male owner always picks up his wife at her work and then off they go. This time the wife had a holiday a little before the husband, so she had to pack the last things for me, the husband came home and then they drove off on holiday. It is important to take advantage of every minute. Have fun in Germany and Wismar!

Oops, almost puts the coffee in the throat ang. your stress before departure, also on the Swedish roads that are so unpredictable and impossible to have a meal to fit 😐 Hope you got some rest on the boat! It will surely be a great Schwedenfest, karam on you 🙂.
17 August 2017 - 17:29
Helena says:
Yes, it was a bit stressful ... not always easy to combine work and travelling 😉 Thanks for the thoughtfulness and yes, the boat gave the opportunity to take it easy!

BP says:
I used to think that suitcases were necessary for travelling by plane, car and boat. In the house picture I thought that you "hang up"/stow away everything you need. It is, after all, a home. Here you see how little I know;-)
Hope the trip will be great!

Helena says:
You are actually quite right. We don't really use suitcases inside the campervan, you just stow things away, as you say. But somehow we have to transport things from the houseboat to the motorhome. Sometimes we have used moving boxes. This time we used suitcases ... 😉 .
