And now our holiday is over. When I look back at my first blog posts and see how we planned the trip, I can see that we have stayed very close to the original plan. Where we deviated from the plan was when our fridge broke down and we had to search high and low for alternative solutions. We have learnt that servicing the living area of the motorhome is difficult, almost impossible to do in Croatia.

Take a break, have fun!

I think these pictures say a lot. They were taken on the same day. Being able to deal with a problem and even if it's not solved, disconnect from it for a while, have fun and then continue working on the problems later.

Elias' best memories

If I ask Elias what he thought was most fun on the trip, he answers that being on Margrete Island in Budapest was great fun. Being in Gradac and meeting Bosanna who was soooo nice and of course snorkelling and swimming. Being out for so long means that it takes a long time to process all the memories. We will make a book for Elias so that he can preserve all the memories from the trip.

Det blev en hel del fordon för Elias
There were a lot of vehicles for Elias

One of my favourite memories

Selfie med åsna
Not every day you take a selfie with a donkey in the middle of the road!

It was when we stopped in NoviSad where we had to sleep at the inn. The next day we saw that the gravel hill up to the road was a bit steeper than we had noticed before. The road went directly up to the main road and it was impossible to stop at the top without getting stuck. We decided that I went up and stopped the traffic and Per took off and drove up everything he could.

It was a funny sight when I saw Per holding onto the steering wheel and jumping up the hill and straight into the road. I ran after him, jumped into the car and exhaled. "That went well", yes, what it must have looked like, people probably thought we were crazy.

Refrigeration

For those of you wondering, we still have a broken fridge. In any case, we have contacted Folksam and we will have it fixed by a safe and good workshop. Right now they are checking whether to repair the one we have or whether we will get a new one.

Our temporary compressor fridge was great. Of course, it was an adjustment to have a 40-litre fridge instead of 140 litres, but at least it was cold. It will probably follow next year as a complement to the large one. So we have no real answer to how it goes with the fridge except that next year we will have one that works in one way or another. 🙂

6 weeks, 18 countries, 17 stops, 700 kilometres

It has been so much fun doing this trip, we can say that we never felt unsafe or afraid in any country. As an example, Albania was very nice, we felt warmly welcomed in every place we stayed.

A very nice memory was when we got lost for almost a whole day and finally stopped for lunch. Since we did not understand the menu, we asked the nice staff to take what they thought we wanted, some meat, rice salad etc. Even Elias said that this was one of the best meals on the whole trip. Still a bit unclear what we ate. 🙂

Lunch i Albanien
This wonderful lunch cost 18 euros and I got 0.5 litres of home-produced olive oil.

Our everyday life

Sagostund på stranden
Story time on the beach, here in Greece. We always have Donald Duck with us. It's our thing.
Min cykel behövde lite omvårdnad, bakhjulet var plötsligt helt snett.
My bike needed some attention, the rear tyre was suddenly out of alignment.
Elias och jag lagar Tacogratäng till middag.
Elias and I are making taco casserole for dinner.

Then the Haug family says goodbye

Thank you all for joining us on our journey. We are already busy planning for next year. I hope you have found that we have shared a reality and not just "good dinners and beautiful sunsets".

Thank you Helena and Peter for letting me blog on your site and for all the tips and advice you, Helena, have given me. It has been great fun to write a blog and who knows, I might continue. If anyone wants to contact me, has advice, tips or anything, I'm here at elisabeth.haug@hotmail.se

Hugs to all of you. 🙂
