Together with eleven other motorhomes, we spent three nights at Ostsee Camping in Zierow near Wismar on the German Baltic coast. Today we thought we'd tell you a bit about the campsite - and then there will be a bunch of pictures from the dinner and party on the last evening with the gang.
Table of contents
Baltic Sea campsite
Ostsee camping in Zierow is a very large campsite, nicely situated on a long sandy beach. There are fresh service buildings, a small campsite shop and two nice restaurants (one inside the site and one outside). Just outside the entrance there is a bus to the centre of Wismar (a few times a day). There are also bicycles and electric bikes for hire, and of course you can also take a taxi or your own car or motorhome.
If you have any complaints, it's that you have to pay for WiFi (€5 per day or €10 for a week) and ... the rain. eastern down. All in all: nice and well-maintained campsite! Please also take a look at the campsite's website (in German).

Services at Ostsee camping
The campsite has a restaurant where you can, for example, order different types of schnitzel, a nice outdoor gym, fitness centre, the possibility of booking a private bathroom, special bathrooms for both children and dogs, a small area with domesticated animals and bowling (or actually "kegel", which is a German variant of bowling). There are also cottages, for those not travelling with a motorhome or caravan.

Knytis - and "flying in a chef"
On our last evening together, we decided to set up a long table at the campsite. Everyone set out what they wanted to eat, ranging from grilled meat or salad to fresh or smoked fish from the fishmongers in Wismar harbour.
We even joked that we had "flown in a chef from Sweden", and it was in fact almost true. Our friend Christina's husband Måns couldn't join us in the camper vans because he had to work, so he flew in after the rest of us. And he actually happens to be a chef. He also cooked for me and Peter and Peter's brother and his wife, so we were really lucky!

Last night with the gang
We had a lot of bad luck with the weather in Wismar, but when it was time to set up the long table, the sun finally shone. It was sooo nice! One after the other stood up and sang everything from schnapps songs to feudal songs - or told hilarious stories or read a funny text from a book.
We could have stayed there forever, if it wasn't for the fact that the sky suddenly opened up and the rain poured down. eastern down on us. But who gives up for that? We huddled together under the awnings and continued the pleasant evening. A big THANK YOU to all the wonderful people who joined us and made this trip great!

But how sad that you had such rainy weather when you still went away with all the motorhomes. You could actually have had some sun, we think. You don't seem to feel so bad anyway...you have to dress and put on rain clothes:) Luckily you had a good time together. You have done a great job to be able to implement this. Hugs to you

Nice stay in Germany, despite the weather, and a really nice closing party. It's cool to be able to see everything from a drone perspective.

The closing party was incredibly nice and fun! 🙂 And yes, isn't it fun to have a drone perspective?

What fun 🙂 You seem to have had a great time despite the weather. Paying for internet is a bit retro if you say so. But if it's fast you might survive with 10€ for a week. Greetings from Svalbard!
22 August 2017 - 8:32
Helena says:
The price is really quite ok for a week. but often you stay shorter than that ... and then it becomes more expensive. Wonderful with Svalbard! A little jealous 😉

Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about the weather. The main thing is that you have nice company, and you did.
Peter's drone images are absolutely brilliant. They are always razor sharp. I wonder how he does it. My regular stills are sometimes really blurry and then I have the camera in my hand anyway...
PS. 10 Euro for a week of wifi I think is quite okay. It would have been worse with no wifi at all;-) And one must not forget that Germany is far behind Sweden in the use of internet and other "computer technology". DS.

Snows says:
Unlucky with the weather but you seem to have had a good time anyway! The price for wifi for a week I thought was ok if it worked well. Free wifi tends to be very shaky ...

Now I have made a first visit here with you and it seems that you are really taking advantage of life and enjoying it. The houseboat is fantastic and also being able to go anywhere with a motorhome gives freedom. It inspires me to go out into the world. Not with a motorhome, those days are gone (though with a caravan) but at least to get away.
