The summer in Sweden was not as warm as you might have liked, and now autumn is on its way. Maybe it's time to start planning a winter trip to the warmth? We've checked out 15 hot travel tips for warmth this winter via Allt om resor - and added our own best tips.
Hottest destinations for warmth this winter
Here we list this winter's hottest travel destinations according to Allt om resor. They themselves write that Cyprus is "an upstart" among the winter destinations, that Gran Canaria continues to be the Swedes' favourite and that Thailand continues to be popular.
- Gran Canaria, Canary Islands
- La Gomera, Canary Islands
- Koh Samui, Thailand
- Isla de Hobox, Mexico
- Hoi An, Vietnam
- Miami and the Florida Keys, USA
- Grand Bahama, Caribbean
- Saint Martin, Caribbean
- Kenya
- Eilat, Israel
- Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
- Los Angeles, California
- Bali, Indonesia
- Boracay, Philippines
- Cyprus
We agree that the Canary Islands can be a good 'close' option. Some other favourites for us on the list are Hoi An in Vietnam (charming alleys with a French touch and backpacker atmosphere), Kenya (beautiful beaches and an exotic experience) and Boracay in the Philippines (fabulous beaches and plenty of restaurants and nightclubs). We are also curious about Eilat in Israel and perhaps Bali in Indonesia.
More tips
Do we have any more tips on where to go for sun and warmth this winter? In Africa, we can recommend the fairytale-like island of Zanzibar outside Tanzania. Morocco also has exciting experiences to offer, even if it may not be so hot up in the mountains. In Asia, in addition to Vietnam and the Philippines, we can also recommend Malaysia.
What if you want to stay in Europe? In Europe, you can't count on any real warmth in the winter, but if you're happy with a mild and pleasant climate, you may be able to stay in Europe. Portugal or Malta are great travel destinations.
After this chilly summer, do you have any plans to travel to the warmth this winter?

I'm happy to have a great trip ahead of me - Miami and a Caribbean cruise in November (and a trip to Italy in a month).
This winter, however, it will be WINTER (and hopefully lots of snow!) with a Christmas in Åre.

Probably leaning towards Dubai again and possibly the French Riviera:) hugs!

Helena says:
Yes, Dubai seems popular too! When do you plan to travel to the French Riviera then? Can iofs imagine that it is nice weather there for a while 🙂

The south of France is at its best from September and well into December. We have had Christmas Day dinner on the terrace many times. It can be a little cooler and rainier only in February, but already in March and April it becomes warm and green again. Many people don't realise that there are 300 days of sunshine out of 365. However, you should avoid coming here only in July and August. On the one hand, it's holiday time and the tourist invasion, and on the other, it's the time of the heatwaves. Which many have experienced this year, not only here but in Croatia and Greece among others.

Helena says:
It sounds like autumn in France is lovely! 🙂 We have been there in April and May and it was also nice. July and August are a bit difficult months in southern Europe because of the heat ...

Going to Croatia in a month, then we'll be in the qualifying rounds for the
It will be the Alps or a sun trip in the winter, looking for Portugal and Dubai too! Hugs

Always difficult to choose, haha. Croatia sounds really lovely anyway!

A friend wants to take me to Bali... Let's see how it turns out :-).... Otherwise, there will be a trip to Tallinn and Dublin now in September and October ... but it is not a sun holiday:-)
But Eilat is on the bucket list!

Does not sound wrong with Bali! 😉 I'm also curious about Dublin!

Mr Steve says:
For me, it will be a fire in the stove when I want to be warm this winter.
30 August 2017 - 9:43
Helena says:
There's nothing wrong with a fire in the fireplace on a cold winter's day, we appreciate that too!

Ditte says:
It's always fun to see what seems to be popular. But there aren't so many new things. I am fond of Vietnam and Boracay and also Malaysia, but not Langkawi. Bali is very nice and Thailand also has many gems.
I have visited Eilat a few times, but for me it was nothing special, other than very good diving and snorkelling. However, I was very fond of the tour we did in Israel and Jordan.
Now that I can no longer spend time on a beach, I have to find a destination with other ingredients. And there are. We commute to Spain and there we still have a lot to see and experience. This autumn it will be Madrid, among other places.
I think your guide with travel stories is great and gives great ideas.

Jordan sounds exciting! Can agree that the most popular destinations often do not surprise so completely.

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Many wonderful travel destinations on offer! Of those mentioned, I feel a little extra for Zanzibar and Hoi An. When we were there in the late 90s, it was an almost deserted beach without parasols and sunbeds. Here it will probably have to endure a winter at home because this year's holiday is basically over and next year's almost planned with, among other things, 5 weeks to Croatia in May....
30 August 2017 - 13:36
Helena says:
Yes, it's that thing about making the holiday last ... I really recognise that!

Husis blog says:
For my owners, it has become more holidays while they use me and only shorter trips in the winter. They constantly complain about these holidays running out. Before I was bought, every winter they were often on a longer destination and then their favourite was Thailand, but also that they were curious about Mexico but there was no trip there. But maybe in the future. There have been some Canary Islands in recent winters and so also this year. But they have also heard a lot of good things about Cape Verde so there will also be a trip there in January. So the owners have a little warmth ahead of them.
30 August 2017 - 13:56
Helena says:
I have also heard good things about Cape Verde, although we have not been there ourselves. And certainly it is a challenge to get the holiday to be enough for everything you want ...

There are so many wonderful places! Hard to choose a favourite. But it will probably be a small trip in the winter 🙂 .

Still, better that there is a lot to choose from than that there wouldn't be... 😉.

We are not planning a trip this winter as we are expecting our first grandchild. I enjoyed Brazil very much but was in the south. Great beaches and a lovely trip. Dubai was good and Egypt very interesting but unfortunately it is quite unstable from time to time.

Helena says:
Oh how wonderful with your first grandchild! We have never been to Brazil, but it sounds tempting! 🙂

I would prefer a ski trip to the Alps, it's more appealing.

I can go to the Alps too! 🙂

I'm going to Ghana, Togo and Benin this winter. Not exactly countries that you find on lists of most popular destinations 😀.

How exciting!!! No, those countries are probably not on any "most popular" lists ... 😉 ...

Travel Friday says:
I am SO happy that we started the summer with almost 3 weeks in the Balkans, in this way it still feels like we got our fair share of sun and heat this summer. Best arrangement to go away over midsummer, we usually do and will continue to do so!
31 August 2017 - 10:53
Helena says:
Nice that you got heat early in the summer! You can live on that for a while 🙂

Birgitta in Umeå says:
As usual, we take 6 weeks in a small fishing village in southern Crete. Here you can have 25 degrees Celsius but still see the snow on the White Mountains. It can also be windy and rainy, you never know. But since Paleochora is a vibrant community with 2000 inhabitants, they set up wood-burning stoves in taverns, if you need some heat.
We avoid the commercialism, the stress of Christmas and the carols at home.
We are not in need of sunbeds and parasols, but we are in need of nature experiences, Greek cosiness and JUST BEING!
31 August 2017 - 13:41
Helena says:
Oh, it really sounds sooo cosy when you describe! Great to have found such a place 🙂 ðŸ™'

La Gomera and Eilat attract me so spontaneously. At least Israel as a country attracts me now that I got to know very nice Israelis during the Australia trip, I now perceive Israelis as a very hospitable and interesting people, or maybe I'm just lucky! I have also wanted to visit Morocco for a long time ...
31 August 2017 - 13:51

How nice that you met nice Israelis who made you curious about their country! 🙂
