Are you worried about being bored on a cruise ship? Don't be! If you get tired of hanging out in the hot tub or sipping drinks at the bar, there's a whole bunch of active activities to choose from. There are also shows and nightlife and stuff, but that's a story for another day. Today we tell you about active activities on Freedom of the Seas from Royal Caribbean.
Table of contents
Take the opportunity to exercise
If you want to keep fit, there are plenty of options on board the Freedom of the Seas. There's a really big gym with lots of machines for both cardio and strength training - most of them with views of the sea through the large panoramic windows. There are also different types of sessions to book, and if you prefer to jog, there is a long running track around the pool area on deck eleven.
Treat yourself to a spa
There is also a large spa on board. We got a little tour and could see that there is a wide range of treatments and many treatment rooms. To be sure to get an appointment, you should still preferably book at least 48 hours in advance.
more activities on Freedom of the seas, Play with balls!
Do you like ball sports? At Freedom of the Seas you can play basketball or take a round on the miniature golf course. The weather was getting cloudy when we checked the situation, otherwise you could almost have been tempted to play a round of miniature golf!
Challenge the adventurer in you
Want even more activities on the Freedom of the Seas than this? How about climbing a climbing wall at the top of the ship's chimney? Or maybe you want to try surfing in a surfing simulator that simulates real waves? We didn't try it ourselves, but we saw that it wasn't easy...
Dancing by the pool
At the pools on deck eleven, there's a lot going on. Sometimes there's a band playing and sometimes there's ... dancing. And if that's not your thing - just hang out in one of the whirlpools and have a good time.
Ice skating
If you've been following the blog, you already know that you can skate on the Freedom of the Seas, but it's worth mentioning again, isn't it?
Part of this trip is a press trip, in cooperation with Royal Caribbean.

Pernilla says:
It really looks exactly like the Navigator of the sea that we cruised with in the Caribbean! Gets crazy longing for your pictures and posts

Cruise in the Caribbean sounds lovely! 🙂

There is a lot to do!

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
This has been as much fun to read comments as posts. The world must almost be divided into two camps, for or against cruising. As lovely as it seems on your days in Marseille and Nice, as much I get shivers of the environment of "fake luxury", as someone called it. Just wondering when you took photos of the gym and running track (it looks completely deserted). Looking forward to continued posts!

Helena says:
Haha, we have said the same thing when we read the comments 😉 We took the photo of the gym in the afternoon one day after our visit on land. Maybe some people were still on land then. But the gym is huge and was not empty. We only took photos at one end (and I chose not to take photos of others working out).

Haha, pretty much what we said when we saw everything ?

Kenneth Risberg says:
There is no shortage of activities. Nice if you get a little bored or if you happen to eat a little too much.
08 September 2017 - 7:56
Helena says:
Yes hehe, the food may need to be shaken down ?

I say like Pernilla - goes crazy with the desire for another cruise!!!!

Helena says:
Hope there will be a cruise soon for you !!!! 🙂

Across the board says:
There doesn't seem to be any lack of employment. Do you have time to see the view of the land as well?
08 September 2017 - 8:33
Helena says:
Haha, yes sometimes 😉 From the open deck where the pools and all activities are, you have a perfect view! And from the balcony in the room 🙂

Ditte says:
I immediately see several things I would like to try: the climbing wall, surfing, skating and miniature golf. But bathing in the pool / bubble I avoid but you can always sit down and enjoy life on board anyway. We have crossed a few times but then, for various reasons, it has become a little smaller ship and with less activities - I understand that you are busy.
And we have also chosen to have a balcony cabin, perfect, and it gives so much more.
Keep up the good work!
08 September 2017 - 10:05
Helena says:
You are tough! 🙂 Balcony cabin is really great, we have really appreciated it! 🙂

Emma, sun like sun? says:
I thought you played at the casino, went to shows, sunbathed, bathed, ate well, mingled in beautiful clothes... Or maybe you only do that in films?
I'm not a fitness ... anything ... I get tired just by seeing all the things you can do. It's like a floating fitness centre.
08 September 2017 - 11:31
Helena says:
You are absolutely right! I just chose to highlight the active activities in one post. There is a big casino, many restaurants and bars, musicals and shows and people are dressed up in the evening. Especially one special evening when there was a "formal dress code", then it was real party favours! More posts to come!

Snows says:
You really can't complain about the offer. I would have enjoyed a trip to the miniature golf course and ice skating is never wrong either! Nice when there is something for everyone.
08 September 2017 - 15:29
Helena says:
It is rather difficult to find time for everything ... 😉 .

Anna, New York - My Bite of the Big Apple says:
It's so cool that they've really used all the space, even the chimney, in a creative way and for all tastes.
I would like to power walk, not run. Maybe that is also possible? Either way, you won't be idle. And I wouldn't say no to that view from the gym! 🙂
08 September 2017 - 19:35
Helena says:
Agree that it is cool and creative that they used the chimney as a climbing wall! And of course, powerwalk goes just as well 🙂 .

BP says:
Well, what should I say... OMG as Steve might be most appropriate. But I hope that in a corner there are some sunbeds, where you can sunbathe and read a book in peace and quiet... If you don't want to be active, don't want to gamble away money in casinos and don't want to drink umbrella drinks in the bars, that is.
08 September 2017 - 20:02
Helena says:
Yes, there is a section of the pool area that is quieter and there are plenty of sunbeds. Nevertheless, we have to say that the pace is generally quite fast on this particular boat, but there are other ships with a more relaxed approach. We will come back to this.

Ama de casa says:
Of course there is a lot to do on a cruise ship! It was said that there was a gym even on the boat we travelled with - unfortunately I never found it... 😉.
09 September 2017 - 2:52
Helena says:
Haha, isn't it nice not to find everything ...!!? ?
09 September 2017 - 8:02
Lena - good for the soul says:
Haha, gosh! It seems impossible to imagine how gigantic that boat is. There is no end of activities. And space-consuming activities at that! You seem to be having a good time.
Hug Lena

Yes, you will not be bored! Great fun to see all the posts and pictures. We have been to the French Riviera many times. My husband's cousin has a house in St Raphael where we have stayed many times. Rented a car and travelled around, hiked up in the mountains etc.
Thanks for the compliments on the wedding photos!

Great to know someone with a house on the French Riviera! 🙂 We have been around there a bit before too, with a motorhome, and there are really many nice places!
