It was a bit sad to leave the heat of Rome and come back to the cold, but still cosy to come home to the houseboat. We've been living the life this week with work and training, and we've also managed to get new dressers and a new espresso machine for the houseboat. Today it's time for a trip abroad again ... but now only Peter is going.
New agencies in the houseboat
We decorated our living room in the houseboat in an airy way and with very little furniture. Nice, but suddenly you have stuff everywhere. Not as nice ... I've argued for quite some time that we must buy two dressers, and now it happened.
Or rather, we ordered them from the company Furniture box a few weeks ago, and now they showed up. I'm really pleased! Finally, our living room looks a bit tidy and nice!
New espresso machine
Our espresso machine broke a long time ago, and since then instant coffee has been served in the houseboat. Not so much fun. We went to Mediamarkt and found a nice espresso machine for 3000 SEK. We also found one that cost SEK 25,000 and curiously asked the salesman about the difference.
Well, the one for the higher price was "a little easier, ground the beans a little better and was more efficient if you wanted to make eight cups at once". That was all very well, but was it worth an extra 22,000 kronor ...? It was for 3000 SEK ...
What happens next?
In fact, Peter is going on a press trip to Greece today together with Christian from Food and travel blog and Veera from Veera Bianca. There will probably be a small first report on Sunday, so don't miss it!
What is the best thing that happened during your week?
Did you miss the last Happy Friday? Read the What an intense week!
Across the board says:
Chests of drawers are an underrated piece of storage furniture. They have plenty of space and are also stylish. Hihihi - I thought when I saw the picture that you really have a screw loose 😀.
Have fun on both sides!
15 September 2017 - 6:59
Helena says:
Better to have a nice chest of drawers than a bunch of loose stuff cluttering up the place ... 😉 .
15 September 2017 - 7:46
Lennart says:
A lot of screws but it turned out fine!
15 September 2017 - 7:06
Helena says:
I'm so glad I didn't have to put it together... 🙂 ...
15 September 2017 - 7:47
Snows says:
How great it turned out with the dressers. The best thing about my week is that it's Friday today 😉.
15 September 2017 - 7:08
Helena says:
Wishing you a nice weekend!!!
15 September 2017 - 7:47
åsa in åsele says:
Instant coffee is a big no-no if you ask me 😉.
We drink an awful lot of coffee, and are probably a bit addicted 😉.
But here we are using a percolator/"making coffee" 🙂.
Drawers, storage is necessary, I guess a houseboat will be compact living 🙂.
The best of the week... well, that's a good question 🙂 !
15 September 2017 - 7:34
Helena says:
We don't like instant coffee either, and yet it's been around for a long time ... far too long. What is compact and what is not is perhaps relative. We have about 75 square metres so we think it's ok, but maybe a little more difficult to furnish than in a regular apartment.
15 September 2017 - 7:49
Mr Steve says:
Stylish and clean. I like it when colours are well thought out and I can follow a line wherever I am in the house.
I won't miss the report from Greece, of course.
The best thing that happened during the week at Getingstorp is that we got to "borrow" Liv on both Tuesday and Thursday.
15 September 2017 - 7:36
Helena says:
Glad to hear that you like the decor Steve, and understand that it was cosy to have Liv visit!
15 September 2017 - 7:49
åsa in åsele says:
75 square metres, okay...
I actually didn't realise/or didn't think the houseboat was that big...
then you have plenty of space 🙂
15 September 2017 - 8:02
Helena says:
Many people think a houseboat is smaller, but it is quite large. However, the spaces are perhaps a little different. Our bathroom is super small and the kitchen is also a bit limited, while we instead have a very large combined bedroom/exercise room/closet ... 😉.

Seija Viitamäki-Carlsson says:
Congratulations to great agencies. Our week is following in your footsteps in Albania. We are in Ksamil, enjoying the heat, beauty and tranquillity. Thank you for your tips from your long European trip. And thank you for your tips every week/day
15 September 2017 - 8:03
Helena says:
But oh, how nice to hear that you are in Albania! And not least that you are having a great time and enjoying the heat! Glad to hear that you appreciate our tips. Wish you a continued nice trip!!!
15 September 2017 - 8:12
Husis blog says:
Nice chests of drawers (is that what it's called?). The owner probably gets just as angry every time such packages are shipped home and it has to be screwed together. Last time the owners bought a wardrobe, the help was bought from the company, nice but on the other hand it was slightly larger...
The owners who don't drink coffee have neither a machine for 3000:- or 25000:- but the guests have to settle for old-fashioned coffee brewed in the coffee maker... 🙂.
The owners have been busy this week with various issues so there has been little writing on blogs, even little reading some evenings.
15 September 2017 - 8:24
Helena says:
I think it's called dressers 😉 We considered coffee makers but Peter (it's mostly him who drinks coffee) likes to have beans and so he makes one cup at a time and then finds it impractical to put on a whole pot. We hesitated because the espresso machines are expensive, but it had to be one anyway.
15 September 2017 - 17:56
Alexandra says:
Nice dressers and practical to be able to put away all the mess in a place where it is not visible. 😀
When our last coffee machine broke, I think it took about 1.5 days before we bought a new one...you easily get used to getting a coffee just by pressing a button!
15 September 2017 - 8:56
Helena says:
An espresso machine is handy! We hesitated for a while because they cost a lot, but now we are happy with the decision!
15 September 2017 - 17:57
Ama de casa says:
What super nice dressers! Having things high and low is not my thing either. If you start by leaving some gadget somewhere, it propagates lightning fast! I am (fairly) good at not having things out, quite orderly. You should just not open the boxes and look there, then the orderly impression disappears immediately 😉 But I know what I have where, in the mess there in the boxes 😀.
I can think that your division of labour feels a bit unfair like that... Greece is probably not completely wrong at this time of year 🙂.
15 September 2017 - 9:25
Helena says:
Our stuff multiplied a lot you can say ... Hope they stay in the drawers now! 🙂 Yes a bit unfair division of labour... But I'm not jealous of his ten (!) hour long flight down...!
15 September 2017 - 17:58
Ditte says:
A lot of stuff gets collected and a nice dresser/storage is great in many ways. And there are many easy to get hold of. Very difficult to choose sometimes.
When it comes to the Espresso machine, it's a matter of whether there is such a big difference between one for 3000 SEK and one for over 20,000. Doubtful!
A lot of good, fun and exciting things have happened this week so there will be a lot of fun things happening in the autumn, spring and summer. And coming back to the Spanish summer cottage as I did is always nice.
15 September 2017 - 10:04
Helena says:
I find it hard to believe that the difference is so great that it is worth it ... but what do I know 😉 It's great that you have positive things ahead of you and Spanish heat is not wrong now that autumn is starting! 🙂
15 September 2017 - 23:24
Lisa in the village says:
Nice dressers you bought. Instant coffee is not for me, I always make my own.
The best thing about my week was that BB Astrid was sick, not fun that she was sick, but on Wednesday I was with her all day when her daughter and son-in-law worked. It is so cosy, Astrid is 1 ½ years old.
Yesterday I visited my second daughter in Växjö, which was also very nice.
Have a nice weekend!
15 September 2017 - 10:20
Helena says:
No, instant coffee is not so much fun ... mostly by necessity 😉 I think it was a cosy day for Astrid too! 🙂 Have fun!
15 September 2017 - 17:59
Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
Oh, how wonderful it looks with order and tidiness. Unfortunately, I have a certain ability to spread my, a little too many gadgets, both high and low.... even though I try to be a little orderly.
The best thing that happened this week was when I woke up this morning and felt that the cold that knocked me out the day before yesterday was much better!!!
15 September 2017 - 13:26
Helena says:
We've also made a lot of messes... hope the dressers will make things easier... Glad to hear you're feeling better! Have a nice weekend!
15 September 2017 - 18:00
Mr Nils-Åke Hansson says:
We came to daughter and was coffee hungry would be babysitting. Then they had bought a new espresso machine so there was no coffee I did not get it started.
15 September 2017 - 13:31
Helena says:
That's a shame... On ours, you just press the "start" button and coffee comes to a cup 🙂 .
15 September 2017 - 23:25
Weavers says:
Had a great week and are now relieved that we could tell the world about our plans for the digital nomad life. And it finally became a motorhome after a number of turns 🙂 Nice dressers, it is a terribly practical piece of furniture!
15 September 2017 - 18:21
Helena says:
Oh, how wonderful! Sounds wonderful!!! Would like to hear more ...!!!? 🙂.
15 September 2017 - 23:26
Weavers says:
There will be more... 🙂 Filling in afterwards in the blog of course, In a while there will be a post about the accommodation as a digital nomad. Tomorrow we will squeeze again on the motorhome we ordered. Make the final adjustments to the lull-lull and the upholstery.
16 September 2017 - 7:32
Helena says:
Great! I will check it out and read!
17 September 2017 - 5:31
Matts Torebring says:
I hate all these screws and plugs. I want it finished. I hope you have good coffee in your new machine. It was a Siemens, for very little money.
15 September 2017 - 19:13
Helena says:
But really? We felt happy with the price and confident with a Siemens 😉.
15 September 2017 - 23:26
BP says:
The chests of drawers are really nice. Since I have my thumb in the middle of my hand, I would not even think about assembling them. Luckily Peter can do that, right!!!!
Fun with a new espresso machine too! I probably wouldn't have invested in a machine for 25,000 either. It is ridiculously expensive.
15 September 2017 - 20:31
Helena says:
It was quite nice that the delivery came when I was at work and that the drawers were screwed together when I got home 🙂 In my ears, 25,000 is a bit insane, but there may be others who think it's perfectly ok, what do I know ... 😉 .
15 September 2017 - 23:28
Evy Knoph says:
Nice dressers! I myself belong to the kind that thinks instant coffee and especially instant espresso is really good :'). In Singapore and Malaysia, Nescafe was more expensive than coffee in cafes (and tastier than their sweet blask)... always have 1 or 2 portion bags of Espresso in the bag when travelling to spike up for weak coffee.... Hope Greece delivers! After Athens in the spring, the desire for Greece is not very big ...
15 September 2017 - 20:56
Helena says:
Is it true ...!? It is rare that someone says they like instant coffee ... 😉 We will see what Peter says about Greece! As usual, it may depend on where you end up ...
15 September 2017 - 23:29
BP says:
See that my previous comment has gone up in smoke. Boohoo:-( Check the spam.
Too bad, as I wrote that I liked the dressers sharply, but that I had never managed to screw them together myself. I have my thumb in the middle of my hand, but luckily Peter doesn't:-)
Congratulations on your new espresso machine! We run with Nespresso. Coffee should be strong and good:-)
Peter in Greece - yes, feel sorry for you with 9 degrees outside right now. What a division of labour - not nice;-)
15 September 2017 - 23:03
Helena says:
The division of labour is perhaps a bit unfair, but on the other hand he had to fly down for ten (!) hours for only two hours on site... I don't know what happened to the comments today, several of which ended up in the spam. But don't worry if it happens again! I check the spam at least every other day, so the comments always get approved... at worst, just a little late,,,
15 September 2017 - 23:31
BP says:
Now both my comments tonight have gone up into cyberspace. I'm giving up now. Like I said - check the spam. WP and blogspot do NOT go together....
15 September 2017 - 23:04
Helena says:
As I wrote above. Don't worry if it happens, I check the spam regularly! (Don't understand why it happens though, but that's another matter...)
15 September 2017 - 23:32
Elisabeth says:
Fun with something new! Coffee machine with freshly ground beans gives good coffee!!!
16 September 2017 - 16:06
Helena says:
It feels good with a little renewal sometimes! 🙂
17 September 2017 - 5:32
Tia says:
Nice dressers! And soooo practical?
Back from Rome, you must have a new espresso machine ? Instant coffee is fine for breakfast, then you need something better?
16 September 2017 - 19:09
Helena says:
Instant coffee sometimes works, but not so much fun. Big difference now with "real" coffee 🙂
17 September 2017 - 5:33
Lena & Jan says:
...woops crowded on the line tonight was thrown out... just wrote that the agency is back is great you go crazy on stuff lying everywhere! So much fun that you are so sought after in the travel-reportage industry, remember when we met in Roquetas and I suggested you write a book... Your everyday life seems much more interesting than that....
16 September 2017 - 20:38
Helena says:
Oops ... was thrown out!!!? A book would be fun, but I don't really know when I will have time for it 😉 And of course there is a lot going on in our everyday life 😉 Have fun!

LinizTravel says:
