Today we're getting technical here on the blog and talking about filming with the DJI Osmo Gimbal. If you've been following our blog for a while, you've probably noticed that Peter has been getting more and more involved in filming and producing mobile material, both for the blog and for the internet. our Youtube channel. Making good films requires practice, of course, but also the right equipment. Peter has now acquired a gadget that ensures that the films are stable.

Filming with the DJI Osmo Gimbal
The DJI Osmo Gimbal is a stabiliser that is used to prevent choppiness or jerkiness when filming with a mobile phone. You download an app and connect your phone to your gimbal using Bluetoth.
You then attach the phone to the device and hold it while filming. There is a small joystick on the handle that you can control with your thumb. You don't have to press directly on the phone, but control filming and photography directly with the small joystick.
We hope and believe that this feature will help us produce even more professional material for the blog. We have plans for more and more moving material, which may also include interviews and moving travel news, for example.
Multiple functions
In addition to being more stable when filming with the DJI Osmo Gimbal, you get a whole bunch of extra features. For example, there is a function where you get nine panoramic photos all around. Another function is Timelapse and M-Timelapse, where the latter means that you can set the timelapse to move from one place to another.
The device can also be set to "follow" a particular person or animal, for example. In addition, you can set it to walk or run with the camera to keep it steady.
Accessories
Peter also bought several accessories for his gimbal: a tripod, an external audio recording device, a microphone and a light for filming in the dark. He bought all the equipment from Dustin online, but afterwards he realised that the same equipment is also available at Scandinavian Photo.
A smart stand
The stand that you can buy is really clever. When folded, it is only 15 cm long and the foot, which folds separately, is even smaller. Another smart thing is that the stand can also be used as a selfie stick for your mobile phone!

There are many tricks... I'll probably continue with my "arms outstretched" and then rely on Photoshop to fix the worst of the blurring 😉 .
Have a great start to October!

I think your method will work very well Ama 🙂.

Well, what can I say... if you are a gadget nerd, you are. Now I have commented at some point that Peter's films are incredibly "steady", but maybe they were filmed with the drone. To be honest, I don't understand how they became so fantastically "steady"...
PS. Nice to see that at least one in your family is technically gifted. There is no one here;-) DS.

Well, there is no doubt about who is most technically interested in this family ;). But he has managed to convince me that the films will really be better with this equipment, and we will simply have to evaluate it in the future! 😉
