New electric truck from Tesla
On Friday, the prototype of Tesla's new electric truck, the Tesla Semi, was shown to the world for the first time. The range is claimed to be 800 kilometres, which means that in most cases the truck will be able to complete a shift without recharging. The truck will also be strong and will be able to climb five per cent at 105 km/h and go from 0-100 in 20 seconds with 36 tonnes in the trailer.
Stationless bike sharing
Singapore-based company oBike is launching Stockholm's first station-free bike share in November. The bikes can be localised by GPS and can be parked wherever bikes are allowed to be parked.
During a pilot period, there will be 360 bikes in Stockholm and then more will be rolled out based on demand. Prospective users just need to download the oBike app, register, make a deposit, find the nearest bike in the app, scan the QR code on the bike through the app, and start cycling.
First Camp is expanding
First Camp is expanding, and now an experienced construction project manager is being recruited for the role of property manager. Tony Ortenlöf comes most recently from the technical consulting company WSP, and was attracted by the growth rate in camping. First Camp is now investing heavily in the destinations, including a major investment in Björknäs in Upplands Bro, which will become a four-star holiday village and campsite.
Emirates launches new cabins
Emirates presents upgraded interiors for its Boeing 777 aircraft, including new first class suites inspired by the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The soft leather seats can be converted into fully reclining beds and can be put into "Zero-gravity" mode, inspired by NASA technology, creating a sense of weightlessness. Business Class seats also fold down into beds and have their own minibar. Economy Class has new colours and ergonomic headrests.
How to book the cheapest airline ticket
The hotel and travel search site momondo.se has published its annual survey of flight searches. Based on the statistics, they present their best tips for finding the cheapest flight:
- Book your flight 60 days in advance to get the cheapest tickets.
- Tickets are often most expensive on the day of departure.
- Tickets for evening flights between 18 and 00 are generally the cheapest.
- It is usually more expensive to fly in the morning and until 15:00.
- Tuesday is generally the cheapest day to fly.
- Saturday is usually the most expensive day of the week to fly.
The smartest way to travel in 2018

The red days are conveniently located next year, and 18 well-planned holidays can give you a total of 51 days off. Oh, that was clever with the bikes! Hope it will work well. Too bad that Stockholm is a terrible city for cycling ...
It would be really nice to fly first class.... or at least business class on a long flight sometime! Will probably start scratching some more lottery tickets. 😉

Helena says:
Can agree that Stockholm is a bit hard to cycle in. Otherwise, it is positive if people cycle!

Yes, most of it seems to be going on electricity soon 🙂.
That 1st class would be something for a long flight 🙂 .
Enjoy the new week.....

The first class compartments would be fine with me, at least if I didn't have to pay extra for them 😉 .

It looked cool, the lorry. I've always thought that more freight should be transported by train, but an electric car is a big step forward.
But launching bike sharing in November? Not the most cycling-friendly time of the year, but maybe there's an idea behind it too...
Hmm... I guess if you're going to book the cheapest airline ticket, then that suite on the Boeing 777 is probably out... 😉.
Have a great start to the week!

I was also thinking about bike sharing and November. Doesn't feel like the best month for a test ... But if it works in November, it will work anyway 😉 .

Ditte says:
The suite seems absolutely worth trying. But then the cheaper tickets probably go away. But on the other hand, you get comfort...
Bicycles for similar hire have been available for some time in Stockholm and are very popular. I don't think it has been a problem to find their racks. In the summer they are almost gone. Good with more bikes because they are really needed.
20 November 2017 - 10:23
Helena says:
The difference with these bikes is that you can also leave them anywhere without having to find a bike rack. But above all, it might be a good thing if the others have run out sometimes!

Thanks for the smart tips on airline tickets. I have actually quite often travelled on Tuesdays 🙂 .

How lucky that you travelled on Tuesdays! Or you have been smart and checked prices 😉.

Bike hire in big cities is a great idea'.
That airfares vary incredibly between different days of the week and times of the day, we have really experienced when looking for airline tickets. Then you have to weigh price against convenience, but for the most part I think we managed to be satisfied. The 1st class suite does not seem to hurt but will probably remain a dream.....

Helena says:
Agree that airfares vary incredibly! And the suite will probably not be more than a dream for our part either ...

Isn't Tesla delicious!!! When the company unveiled two new electric trucks last week, they were overwhelmed with orders immediately and the shares skyrocketed:-)
More bikes are definitely needed in Stockholm, not in November maybe, but definitely during the summer, when the rental places were often empty. I hope oBike does better than the car-sharing companies that have not succeeded.
A holiday village in Upplands Bro... Would have liked a holiday village/campsite closer to Stockholm. Upplands Bro is the end of the world, where there is nothing worth seeing apart from Lasse Åberg's museum. But if you play golf, there is at least a golf course ...
20 November 2017 - 16:04
Helena says:
Well, the Tesla is a bit cool actually! And of course you wonder why they choose to test bike sharing just in November ... 😉 Like the idea so hope it will work! Like the idea of car sharing services too!

Matts Torebring says:
Electric cars are still a bit dangerous. I was surprised by one when I went to work today. I didn't hear it when I crossed the street...
20 November 2017 - 19:19
Helena says:
Yes, I have heard this before, including from people with visual impairment or who are completely blind. It would be scary and dangerous if the cars are not heard. Maybe you should make sure that you can actually hear them?

Wow, that truck thing seems revolutionary! So good!
Isn't there already a history of cycling in Sthlm?

The bikes that existed before have special bike racks where you pick up and drop off. What's new about these is that you can pick up and drop off anywhere (and use an app to find them).
