If we look back at October and November, we can see that we have taken a small break from travelling. To begin with, it has been quite nice with a little break, but now it starts to itch in the travelling arm. So what do our future plans look like?
Table of contents
Journeys of the year
If we think about it, we have travelled a lot during the year. We started in January with a ski trip to Austria. In April, we had time for an adventure journey to Malta and an Easter trip to Tallinn. In May we went to a concert in Amsterdam and in June we set off on a campervan trip around the Poland and Czech Republic.
In August we were able to experience both beautiful Switzerland and take a motorhome trip to Schwedenfest in Wismar. In September we tried for the first time a Mediterranean cruise with stops in Spain, France and Italy. In the same month, Peter also travelled to Greece.
Break from travelling
After Peter's trip to Greece, there has been a long break in travelling. Why? Because I (Helena) work full time and (for natural reasons, see previous paragraph) have no holiday left. To begin with, it was actually quite nice.
As fun as it is to travel, you get a little tired when you fly back and forth all the time. But being a travel blogger and being at home finally feels strange ... and now it starts to itch in the travel arm!
Future plans
The strangest thing of all has probably been that we haven't had any concrete travel plans. We've had lots of ideas and dreams, but haven't really got round to planning. So why is that? Well, one of the reasons is that I still don't know where I'll be working after the end of the year.
The job I have was a one-year project, and it is still unclear whether it can be extended. There are probably other options and it will surely be solved one way or another, but it's so hard to plan when you don't know what life looks like.
Travel plans
There is a small possibility that we are travelling somewhere already in Christmas, but it is not at all certain. For next year we have lots of travel plans and countries discussed include Ireland, Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Portugal and Tunisia. We are also planning a longer motorhome trip in Europe next summer. And maybe a sailing trip. Hope you'll join us! Do you have any travel plans yourself?
None says:
What great travel plans for next year! Ireland, Georgia, Lithuania, Belarus, Portugal and Tunisia - would like to go to all of them. Ireland is the only country I have been to of these. The nomads will go to Amsterdam, now it's our turn to see Depeche Mode haha, this summer it's Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Berlin and then Croatia.

Helena says:
Glad you like our travel plans! It is not certain that all of them will happen, but at least some! 🙂 And what good travel plans you also have! We have travelled a lot in Poland, Czech Republic and Croatia. Great destinations! 🙂

Ama de casa says:
Sounds like exciting plans! 🙂
I don't have any travel plans for the future, I'm probably tired of travelling around... 😉.
28 November 2017 - 9:51
Helena says:
You are indeed fine where you are, but should I really believe that you won't "flit around" ...? 😉

Goatfish says:
It's nice to take a break sometimes. Travelling is also a form of work.
Then I realise that it is also related to work. An important source of income.
I have two short trips to Stockholm in mind, and a long trip for Easter. So far, I am satisfied.
Have fun! 😀 hugs.
28 November 2017 - 10:35
Helena says:
You have to have sources of income, one way or another, and right now my job is our most important source of income. Sounds exciting with a long trip in Easter! 🙂
28 November 2017 - 17:06
Mr Steve says:
Georgia sounds exciting. I have seen some travel reports from there and I was particularly fascinated by the mighty mountain ranges. I have visited Ireland, Portugal and Tunisia and it is Ireland that attracts me. Driving around there was a wonderful experience. Especially the countryside with its rolling green hills appealed to me. Driving there was very relaxing as a horse and carriage was a common travelling companion.
My own journeys now extend at most to Fjugesta (9 km) and Örebro (16 km) so there are no grandiose travel plans here.
28 November 2017 - 10:49
Helena says:
I also think Georgia sounds exciting! So we hope there will be a trip there! And to Ireland 🙂

Anette says:
It can be nice to take a break from travelling from time to time. Being on the move all the time can be tough, even if it's fun and interesting. In addition, you need time to digest everything you've been through, soon you will be eager for a new trip and the plans will take shape.
I understand that it's a bit hard to not know what the future looks like, but it always works out for the best.
28 November 2017 - 11:26
Helena says:
I really recognise that having to digest the impressions! And yes, the uncertainty is a bit hard actually.
28 November 2017 - 18:20
Cat's Considerations says:
Yes, it is. Sometimes it's hard to admit that it's nice to just be home, especially when it gets a little too close between trips. Georgia is on our To do list! But nothing planned. At the moment we are only in Thailand and that is quite unusual for us. Normally we fly around on holiday and this year I skip the Philippines because it is difficult to be free considering all the commitments I have there. Have a good time!
28 November 2017 - 11:28
Helena says:
Sometimes you just need to relax on holiday and it looks like you're doing that this year!

I have also taken a break, after a crazy autumn, summer, spring and winter in 2017. The second half of November and all of December will be at home to catch up. With everything. At home. With the blog. Texts and pictures from the autumn trips. It also feels very good to finish those chapters before I start the next one. Mauritius in January and the Faroe Islands in March 😉.
28 November 2017 - 11:56
Helena says:
Surely you need time to catch up sometimes! Mauritius sounds lovely and the Faroe Islands are one of my favourites 🙂 .

What a great header! Half a rainbow among shifting blue clouds.
No travel plans - Just travelling with you, as I sit at my desk.

Helena says:
Glad you like the header! We hope that we will be able to offer some nice travel pictures in the future as well! 🙂

Role o Carina says:
Yes you are travelling a lot, so now you have to calm down 🙂 .
We are aiming for a sun holiday to Islas Canarias in Feb-March 🙂 .
Then there will be more with the new Motorhome from April....
Take care........
28 November 2017 - 14:07
Helena says:
Sounds like a great trip to the sun in February and March! Not to mention a new motorhome! 🙂

Britt-Marie Lundgren says:
You have to have something to look forward to, especially on a day like today when the snow is falling all over the place. We have already booked a ferry ticket to Kiel at the end of April. Then I have 5-6 weeks of holiday and we will drive down through Slavonia and Bosnia to Dubrovnik and then head home at a slow pace. A hiking trip, the last 15 miles of the Pilgrimage Trail in Spain together with good friends is also planned for next autumn.
In the summer months I get to alternate work with motorhome trips in Sweden, which is not bad either.
28 November 2017 - 15:01
Helena says:
It's nice to have something to look forward to! What a wonderful and special trip you will make! And the hike, wow!!!
28 November 2017 - 18:25
Annika says:
It's nice to just be at home too, I think.
I have no travel plans either, I'm going to North Carolina this weekend (performance) and then to NYC the following weekend. Otherwise? No, no plans. Now you have it warm and comfortable on the houseboat I hope!!!
28 November 2017 - 15:15
Helena says:
Thank you, we have it warm and cosy in the houseboat! It's quite easy to heat up actually 🙂 .
28 November 2017 - 18:26
BP says:
What a great header with the almost empty marina, the cloud formations and the rainbow. WOW!!!
Planning is not always an advantage, as your "dilemma" shows. When you don't know what the future looks like as in your case, spontaneous decisions are preferable... maybe. I think it's terrible that your employer still doesn't know/have said anything about whether your service will be extended. Such things create insecurity.
Here it will (as usual) be a spontaneous decision to travel to Benidorm again, but as the neighbour is there right now and has not returned so... well, it will have to be as it is;-).
28 November 2017 - 15:35
Helena says:
Glad you like the header! Yes, it's bad not to be told. My closest managers are working for the service, but higher up it seems to be extremely slow. Feels a bit sad, and of course I can't wait forever.
28 November 2017 - 18:28
Henny says:
You have probably needed a break and some time at home, but I understand that the desire for new experiences is starting to emerge. This is partly what you live on too. When things work out with work for your part, we will surely see new pictures and films in the future. I look forward to that.
28 November 2017 - 17:45
Helena says:
Of course there will be trips, pictures and films here on the blog in the future 🙂 We will get some order in life just ... 😉.

Husis blog says:
Yes, there are plans for the owners. Having just returned from Tenerife, they are aiming for Cape Verde after Christmas and New Year. Around midsummer next year they will head for Greece or Spain, not really decided yet.
In April, I will also be going out, so there will be a small trip every weekend, often to the best weather.
So far I have not been told where I am going next summer but have heard about a new trip to Sweden, Croatia or Poland. So waiting anxiously for this decision but it depends on the owners' joint summer holiday.
28 November 2017 - 18:18
Helena says:
Oh what a lot of plans, wonderful! Cape Verde seems popular now, and does not sound stupid at all! Southern Europe is not wrong either, and Poland is known to be one of our favourites 🙂.
28 November 2017 - 18:30
Ditte says:
Great picture from your neighbourhood!
And it's hard to plan when you don't really know what your job situation will be after the New Year. Hope you get something that feels good and rewarding.
Georgia sounds exciting, a country where I have not yet been and it has also not yet ended up completely on my list. South Africa is on it (nothing booked yet) as well as Beijing and KIna. Glad that Tunisia is a bit in the cry again, Worked there in the 70s and have since been back many times over the years. Ireland I would like to visit again as well as Wales.
I have some work trips in Sweden this winter and summer and it will be great fun.
And Spain is still there. Lots to see and experience here too.
Nice to follow your travels.
28 November 2017 - 18:19
Helena says:
What interesting plans you have Ditte! Tunisia we stuck to when we were at the travel fair last time. I like desert adventures and stuff so I got a little curious, hope it happens!

Ann-Charlotte says:
We actually don't have a single travel plan right now. Not even a ski trip is booked, we who always go skiing. The reason is called Billy. It is our new poodle puppy 🙂 But he is pretty cool so maybe it will be a winter holiday anyway. Or maybe a spring winter holiday.
28 November 2017 - 18:37
Helena says:
But oh, it sounds so cosy with Billy!!! And maybe he also likes snow!? 🙂

When you have been travelling non-stop, it is quite nice to have a little break at home... says I who often travel within Spain.I understand that it sucks in the gut and you have a lot of plans for next year. Exciting!
28 November 2017 - 19:24
Helena says:
It has been nice with a break actually, but now we are eager to travel again! 🙂 Have fun!!!
28 November 2017 - 20:32
Linda says:
Oh hope it works out with the job. Georgia sounds exciting and I really want to go to Portugal! This year I have been in Milan and Thessaloniki, just right. Feel no direct travel craving now except for the heat then 😉 This summer we all go to Croatia.
Answer: The idea is that a gang starts a "train" and you have to follow them in the train, then they follow back. The thing is that those who start following you or even those who are in the train unfollow almost immediately afterwards. A way to "fish" followers. Exactly it is those who interact and follow you back that adds value to your account. The number of followers can really matter but companies don't seem to have realised this yet.
28 November 2017 - 20:18
Helena says:
A little heat sometimes can be nice, Croatia sounds lovely! And thanks for the answer! I have heard about this with follow and unfollow. Sooo heavenly sad! I long for the day authentic followers (even if they are fewer) are what counts!
28 November 2017 - 20:35
Margaret says:
You must always have plans! Some carrot to get us through the dark and cold winter in northern Sweden. A trip to the sun in Thailand is planned - to an island where it is calm and quiet. Morning swim with the fish. No hordes of tourists fighting for sunbeds....
A week in the mountains and then a village in the south of France for a couple of summer weeks.
Perhaps an exciting destination for the autumn. There are many on the to-visit list! Portugal - Croatia - Sardinia - Italy - Vietnam....
You have a long list too. I hope you Helena will soon be informed about the job so you can structure your life.
Not much you have done this year either. Time is needed to digest the impressions too.
28 November 2017 - 21:54
Helena says:
Surely you can need something to look forward to! 🙂 A quiet island in Thailand sounds lovely! Even your other plans sound nice ...! 🙂 And of course you need to melt the impressions in between, I can feel a great need if the trips are too frequent.

Marianne - Glimpses of the world says:
I also have a travel break now after an intensive spring and summer on the travel front, but now it is getting close to the time for both a long weekend in Røros and 3 1/2 weeks in Ghana, Togo and Benin. First there will be some real winter cold, then Christmas cosiness, and then some West African heat not so long after that 😀.
28 November 2017 - 22:02
Helena says:
What exciting destinations you have ahead of you Marianne!!!!
02 December 2017 - 9:28
Ninny says:
Wow, you have managed to do a lot of travelling in a year! And you have many new esplans, it will be exciting to "follow along" on those journeys in the future!
Hope it works out for you, it's not fun not knowing...
We are planning a small spring trip, intending to go to Rome in mid-March. My husband has never been there. I have, but it was a very long time ago - in the 80s when I was travelling by train - so it will be fun to see that city again. Planning is also a fun part of travelling...!
29 November 2017 - 7:07
Helena says:
Great to have a trip to Rome! We were there for the first time ever this September. Was pleasantly surprised, what a wonderful capital! 🙂
02 December 2017 - 9:29
Inga Magnusson says:
I who never travel myself look forward to following you on your travels! Ireland would be fun to look at via your site. I have been there a long time ago. ;-)) We now only go to Stockholm from time to time to meet son's family and to Umeå sometimes to meet daughter's family. Possibly we will go big and visit a good friend in northern Germany in March - 18, but it is still uncertain plans. I hope it works out in the best way with your job when the project period ends.
30 November 2017 - 7:36
Helena says:
Exciting with plans for a trip to Germany, and fun that you "follow" our trips! Our plans are a bit fuzzy yet, but we hope that many of them will happen! 🙂
